Richard POV
"Once again our darling son has made us proud again." my dad said after the toast.
"You can say that again, honey." my mum boasted, "This will be his eleventh award."
Derek laughed. "Alexander, you are a lucky man, please I think you should share your tips with Kelvin and I."
Everyone laughed.
"My son is a gem of a person, I am sure that he will share his tips with you." my mother said with pride.
I really hate the business man of the year award because it always remains me of her, it always remains me of what happened that night, and the funny part is that I have not yet forgotten what happened because it always plays in my head. I hate the fact that I can't move on with my life because of you; I regret the day I ever meet you; I regret the day that I fell in love with you.
"Honey, I want us to throw a party right here in Lambton Estate because our son deserves." My mother suggested.
My father smiled at my mum. "You are right, love, we will throw a grand....
"There is no need to that dad." I interrupted.
'Why shouldn't we host a party?" my mum questioned
I stood up from my seat. "I don't want us to throw a party."
My mum also stood up from her seat. "Well, I want to celebrate my son's success."
I clenched my fist. "I don't want us to throw any."
My mum dropped the glass in her hand. "This is all because of that witch that goes by the name Cassandra, if she did not come into my son's life then I am hundred percent sure that your life will have much better but no my opinion is inconsequential in this house. I made it really clear to all of you she was bad luck to our family but no, my son was madly in love with her and he was not ready to listen to his own mother."
"Mum please!"
"No, today Emily Lambton will speak her heart out." my mum yelled out, "She caused all our family problems, seven years ago my son was living a happy life before he meet that b***h. I do not understand what spell she placed on you that made you head over heels with her. There were other girls out there like Vanessa who would have been the best daughter-in-law for our family, but not my son wanted to get married to that girl who had a weird history."
I slammed my hands on the table. "Enough mum, you have said enough about Cassandra and I am tired of hearing her name and also for your information I don't want any party to be hosted and the reason is not because of Cassandra."
"I am your mother, so I will decide what is best for you." she yelled out
"f**k you all!" I said before picking my car keys and leaving the house.
*******
Derek drank his shot. "Alexander, you know that you should have behaved like that."
"I hate it when my mum always brings up her name." I muttered.
Kelvin tapped my shoulders. "Listen, I know that you hate her name but you know that her name will always pop up."
"And I really hate that."
Derek signaled the waiter to get us some more shots. "If your mum wants to host a party, I don't think it's wrong, your achievement is remarkable and you know that your mother wants to host one because she is proud of you."
"Guys I know that but....
Derek sighed. "It won't hurt you if they host a party to celebrate your success."
Kelvin dropped his glass. "I agree with Derek, please just let the party happen."
"Guys no..."
The last thing I want to do is to throw a party, but I have to do that to satisfy my family.
I sighed. "Okay, the party will be held but anyway tell me did you finally do it Derek."
Derek blushed. "Yes, I finally proposed to Maya, and she said yes."
"Finally, so tell me when is the wedding?"
"Mr. Alexander Lambton, we will hold the wedding on the 15th of September."
"Okay so I have another wedding to host." I muttered.
Kelvin laughed. "I really pity Maya."
"And may I know may?" Derek asked
"You are so gullible I was only pulling your leg."
We all laughed before having a few more drinks before finally went back home.
