Chapter1
The rays of sunlight stream into the room. Carl's s eyes flutters open a smile on his face as he reminisces about last night's events. Ethan always had a way of making him feel special each night they spent together. His attention is drawn to the bathroom door as Ethan steps out, his hair dripping wet and a towel tied round his waist.
"Took a shower without me? That's not fair." Carl said eyeing Ethan's body. "You looked so tired from last night and I didn't want to wake you up."
Ethan said while reaching for his clothes. A blush crept up Carl's cheeks. "Where are you rushing to so early this morning?" Carl asked "Mom and Dad called and decided to hold the engagement party this evening. I have to get ready.
" Ethan said while slipping on his watch.
"What?! Can't the date be moved? It doesn't even make sense for them to rush an engagement party." Carl complained. "I know, mum and dad are becoming unbearable these days. I tried to reason with them but they're hell bent on announcing the engagement this evening. Something about public image and business."
Ethan explained "But you promised that you'll spend the whole week with me." Carl said deflated "I know I promised but what would you rather have me do?" Ethan asked while walking into the kitchen.
"Maybe! I'd rather have you stand up to your parents and say no for once. This happens all the time it happened when Clara came into the picture, when you proposed to her and now this. You keep making promises, you can't keep all because you're being mummy and daddy's puppet." Carl said while following him into the kitchen. "This not something to angry over Carl. Let's not ruin the beautiful night we spent together over this. It's just that this is out of my control." Ethan says facing Carl with his hand around his waist. "I promise this is the last time all mum and dad want is a good public image and once I give them that we'll be free." Ethan reassured Carl. "Well let's hope you keep your promise this time around." Carl grumbled with a frown on his face. "I love you, but I have to go right now." Ethan says and gives Carl a chaste kiss and steps out the door. Leaving Carl with a frown on his face and his terrible mood.
LATER THAT EVENING
The ballroom was decorated to its best and the room was filled with the elites of society. It was buzzing with discussion especially the announcement of Ethan's engagement. Ethan stepped into the room with Clara perched on his arm. They were picture perfect with Ethan's black suit with red embroidery and Clara's red hair, makeup and hair-do. They moved round the room exchanging pleasantries, accepting congratulations and cracking jokes throughout the night.
Carl entered the hall to attend as he couldn't bear sitting at home with his thoughts. He moved round the room and decided to settle at the bar, needing alcohol to calm his nerves. While nursing his drink and staring at Ethan and Clara. A group of men stumbled to the bar area. "Hey, bartender! We need drinks the good ones not the juice they've been serving in the ballroom." One of them said loudly. The bartender nodded in silence and started serving them. Another picked up the glass, sipped and groaned the alcohol probably burning his throat. " Man the Sinclair's always know how to throw a good party and this one is no exception." He said. They all nodded in agreement. "One can't help but be jealous especially of their son, he has the money, the fame and now the wish of every man in the room as his fiancee." The first man said. " They seem so in love with the way Ethan has been all over since the party started." Another said.
The sound of the glass coming down so hard on the table startling the men. "Hey dude what's the matter with you?" One of them asked. Carl ignored them and walked away tired of their conversation. He walked back into the main hall as Ethan's father was giving the vote of thanks. "Oh finally it's soon going to be over." Carl sighed gratefully.
"....I really appreciate you all for coming to celebrate our son. We are so happy that our family legacy would finally be carried on. I am overjoyed to announce that a bigger event is coming up in two months and that's the wedding of our son to Clara!" Ethan's father said excitedly as his voice boomed out of the speakers. Ethan and Clara stand up to wave excitedly to the crowd while Ethan scoops her up into a passionate kiss. The whole hall breaks into applause and awws but Carl is shocked. He stumbles, red-eyed to the stage where Ethan and Clara sat everything else fading into the background.
Carl gets to the steps before the stage but he's blocked by guards. " I need to speak to Ethan now!" Carl screams at the guards. "Well you can't, you're not on the VIP list." One of the guards reply him. " I don't care about any stupid list. I just need to see him now!" He continues to scream trying to push the guards away. "Sir I advise you to keep your hands off us if you don't want us to get violent." Another guard warns. "You can hit me if you want to but I'm not leaving here without speaking to Ethan! Now let me pass!" He screams managing to push one guard aside but he's held back by another.
"What's going on here?" Ethan's father asked as the commotion drew his attention. "Sir he insists on speaking to your son but he's not on the VIP list." A guard answered. Ethan's father turns to him and asks, "Well what do you want with my son?"
