Ava waited rather impatiently for Terrell to show up at closing time. When the clock struck eight o’clock, she figured he wasn’t coming. She packed up the food she had left out for him. Then she had an idea. She pulled out her phone and called Rachel.
“Hey boss lady, what’s up?” Rachel answered.
“Not much, I was wondering if your brother would happen to know exactly where the compound is that Terrell works at?” She braced herself for Rachel’s expected banter at her question, but it never came.
“Let me call him and I’ll call you right back.”
With that, Rachel hung up. Ava breathed a sigh of relief that she hadn’t teased her. A few minutes later her phone buzzed with a text message, showing her an address. It was on Newman Ridge, just as Terrell had said. She gathered up
