Elena's Point Of View

I sighed as I sat down on the passenger seat, exhausted that this has been the fourth time this month that those Scottish b-st-rds tried to kill me and that needs to stop.

"That's the reason why I have to marry you Don Mateo." I looked at the road as he drove to my father's estate with the help of GPS "The leader of the Scottish Chapter wants me de-d just like they did to Jack, once my father is out of heirs, The Council will then decide which country all the power of The United Kingdom Ma-ia be given to; Scotland, Ireland, Wales or England" I sighed

"How did they k-ll your brother?" His companion asked curiously

"Hit and run, so they can pass it off as an accident." I spat angrily "My father's been hunting their leader since then. Costing him his marriage and his heart getting shattered in the process." I added with a sigh "My mother had forgotten that she had another child and married another man even before the divorce was finalised." my heart clenched at the memory but I tried not to show my heartbreak and anger towards my mother.

"I've heard about The Scottish Chapter's attempts to kill you in recent years, why?" Mateo asked

"Most of the council members are Scottish so they think that getting rid of me will make them the main attraction for all the business in the United Kingdom Ma-ia" I scoffed "But unlucky for them, they killed my brother the love of my life and now I will hunt them down one by one! Starting with their boss, John Mcintyre. " I spat that assh-le's name as if it was poison. "Though nobody had seen him so it's hard to put a face in the name." I sighed "And the people we capture are either the wrong ones or they're too loyal to speak against their boss." I scoffed

"Your country has a bizarre set of rules when it comes to running a Ma-ia" his third in command chuckled "But I commend you for being a fair leader to your people, you have a reputation in Italy and Domenico won't shut up about you when you met him and a few of the Italian ma-ia leaders two years ago." he added

"What kind of reputation do I have in Italia hm?" I wondered "What do the great ma-ia bosses say about my regime?" I ask sarcastically, already knowing what they would say

"They think that a woman isn't fit to rule the Ma-ia, in their non-existent minds they believe that a woman's job in our line of work is to give men heirs." he shook his head while chuckling "Clearly they haven't met you yet!" he said with an impressed smirk etched on his face as Mateo was a little silent

"Those misogynistic pigs have a point though. If he is to accept my engagement proposal, I would have to give Mateo heirs to keep the Sicilian Ma-ia running and his legacy alive" I chuckled "In return, I want him to be my associate and partner in most of my restaurants, along with keeping those rebellious Scottish b-st-rds in line." I stated, as we were getting close to the estate

"So you're saying that we should be each other's glorified trophy spouse?" Mateo finally spoke again, I nodded "What about public appearances?" He asked

"We are still going to act as Mr. and Mrs. Vitale in council meetings, media appearances, events, etcetera and on paper but besides from giving you heirs, you're free to touch any woman you want as do I with any men I want." I smile to him as servants open the gates for us and he parked the luxurious car on the driveway

"There's one thing you need to know about me principessa... I don't like sharing what's mine" he whispers in a deep, almost seductive voice

"As do I signore... But you haven't even accepted my proposal yet... So I'm not yours to keep" I smiled innocently "Oh and stop being so possessive, it's not a good look on you" I say with a soft smirk on my face before getting out the car and went to the foyer to meet my father and my grandparents. I bit my lower lip and felt his eyes on me as I go inside.

"Did I just flirt with him?" I shook my head at the thought of flirting with a man I just met, let alone a ma-ia Don.

We may get engaged or married before the end of the year but I don't want to fall in love with him. I CAN'T fall in love with him... No matter how powerful or attractive he could be

Mateo's Point Of View

"She definitely burned you on that one" Severino chuckles "And she's right, possessiveness isn't a good look on you" he winked before going out of the car

I am already impressed with her on how she handled herself with the ambush and how she would fight her own battles. I can tell that she will be a good ally for me and my men as well as being a good trophy wife. If we weren't getting engaged, I can tell that we'd be great friends ourselves.

And we both have a similar past with our parents, the only difference is that hers are still alive.

I tried to hide an amused smile as I watched her go inside, shaking my head as I fixed my blazer before exiting the car as Severino and I went inside the Kingsley estate.

She's not the only woman who called me out on my possesive nature. Lucia would call me out often too before she was k-lled.

"You don't have to get so possessive towards me my love... I'm yours and nobody else's." She smiled sweetly and caressed my cheeks as her sweet voice fill my head

But why do I don't feel offended when Elena said it just as Lucia did? Do I like her already?

No. A ma-ia boss can never be vulnerable, I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. You can never fall in love in an arranged marriage.

I'm sure of that.

I need to also focus on hunting down my b-st-rd brother and make him pay for Lucia's m-rd-r.

Third Person's Point Of View

"They're here Don Gabriel, did you arrive safely?" the baggage boy, Jimmy whispered over the payphone

"Si, I did Jimmy. I'm currently working on finding the man who k-lled Lucia to clear my name from Mateo." Gabriel said over the phone with a smirk, finally having a lead on who is Lucia's k-ller. "Tell your papa to keep an eye on Elena and Mateo for me." he hung up the phone as he looked at the footage of Domenico Vitale paying off the three men who k-lled Lucia shortly after her funeral on a surveillance video saved on his laptop.

"With this information in exchange for Elena, Mateo can't refuse it. He can get revenge on the man who k-lled his wife, my name is cleared and I can finally marry the woman I love! It's a win situation, for me anyway." Gabriel smirked at the thought of him finally being with the woman he loves.
