Evelyn begins noticing a mysterious man, Adrian Vale, who seems to know everything about her and appears everywhere in her life. At first, she believes he is stalking her, as strange events start happening—gifts, messages, and encounters that suggest he is watching her closely. As the story unfolds, Evelyn discovers Adrian knows personal details about her past that she doesn’t even remember herself. He insists he is protecting her from something she once experienced, hinting that her memory may have been altered after a traumatic event.Eventually, Adrian reveals that Evelyn was involved in a past kidnapping case and had her memories erased for protection. His obsession with her stems from the fact that he knew her before she forgot, and he has spent years trying to keep her safe and close. The story ends with the unsettling truth that his “love” has become controlling and obsessive, blurring the line between protection and possession.

The first stare
Got it. I’ll write a dark obsession story in chapters, and each chapter will be about 200 words. I’ll start with Chapter 1, and continue when you say “next”. THE DARK OBSESSION CHAPTER 1: The First Stare Lara noticed him on a rainy afternoon at the bus stop. He wasn’t doing anything unusual. Just standing there under a torn umbrella, watching traffic like everyone else. But something about him felt wrong in a quiet way she couldn’t explain. He didn’t check his phone. Didn’t move. Didn’t blink much. And when Lara accidentally looked at him, he was already staring at her. Not casually. Not briefly. Completely. Like she was the only thing in the world worth seeing. She looked away quickly, heart tightening for no reason. When she glanced back, he was still looking. The bus arrived, but instead of relief, she felt worse stepping inside. Through the window, she saw him again—still standing there, still watching. Even as the bus pulled away, he didn’t move. Later that night, Lara tried to forget him. But when she opened her curtains before bed, her breath caught. Across the street, under the streetlight, he stood again. Watching her window. Waiting. Like he already belonged to her life. And she didn’t know how long he had been there. Say “next” and I’ll continue with Chapter 2 (200 words) where the obsession begins to grow darker. THE DARK OBSESSION CHAPTER 2: HE KNEW HER ROUTINE Lara told herself it was coincidence the next morning. People see the same faces twice in a city like this. It means nothing. It had to mean nothing. She left her house earlier than usual, hoping to avoid the strange man from the bus stop. She even took a different route, cutting through a longer street that led to her workplace behind a row of busy shops. For a while, she felt safe. Then she saw him. Standing outside a small kiosk, pretending to look at newspapers. The same man. Same calm posture. Same unreadable expression. But now it was worse—because he wasn’t just somewhere random anymore. He was everywhere she went. Lara slowed down, pretending to check her phone, her fingers shaking slightly. When she looked up again, he was gone. She forced herself to breathe. At work, she tried to focus, but her mind kept replaying his face. Something about the way he looked at her wasn’t normal. It wasn’t attraction. It was… study. Like he was memorizing her existence. At exactly 5:00 p.m., her coworker mentioned something casually. “A guy came by earlier asking about you.” Lara froze. “What guy?” The coworker shrugged. “Tall guy. Dark hoodie. Said he might know you.” Lara’s stomach dropped. That evening, she didn’t go straight home. She walked in circles, passed crowded areas, waited in public places just to feel less alone. But when she finally reached her street, her heart sank. He was already there. Standing across from her house. Waiting like he had always known where she lived. And for the first time, Lara understood something terrifying— This wasn’t chance anymore. This was knowledge. And she had no idea how he got it. Say “next” for Chapter 3 (it gets darker: he leaves something for her THE DARK OBSESSION CHAPTER 3: THE THING HE LEFT BEHIND Lara didn’t sleep that night. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw him standing across from her house again—still, patient, like time didn’t apply to him the way it applied to everyone else. At some point around 3 a.m., she stopped pretending she was resting and just sat on her bed, staring at her door like something might walk in without permission. Her phone lay beside her, face down. She didn’t want to see messages. Didn’t want to check anything. But silence felt worse. Silence felt like waiting. Morning came slowly, gray and heavy. She almost convinced herself to believe it had been paranoia. Stress. A long day that turned into imagination. People always explained fear away like that. Until she opened her front door. At first, she saw nothing unusual. Just the quiet street. A few early commuters. The usual dust settling on concrete. Birds calling from somewhere unseen. Then she noticed it. A small brown envelope placed neatly on her doorstep. No stamp. No name. Just her name written in clean, careful handwriting: LARA Her breath stopped. For a moment, she didn’t move. Didn’t bend. Didn’t touch it. It felt wrong just existing there, like something that shouldn’t belong in her world had been dropped into it. Slowly, she looked around. Left. Right. Across the street. Nothing. No sign of him. But that didn’t make her feel better. It made her feel watched more carefully. Lara crouched down and picked up the envelope with two fingers like it might burn her. It was heavier than expected, like there was more inside than paper. She went back into her house and locked the door behind her immediately. Three locks. Then she stood there, staring at it on her kitchen table. Her hands trembled as she finally opened it. Inside was a photograph. Her stomach tightened instantly. It was her. Taken from a distance. She was walking home. The angle was slightly elevated, like the photo had been taken from a balcony or behind a window. She zoomed in on it instinctively, as if she could find proof it wasn’t real. But it was real. She recognized her clothes. Her bag. The way she tilted her head slightly when she walked. Below the photo, another piece of paper. Just one line: “You always walk fast when you think you’re alone.” Lara dropped the paper instantly. Her heartbeat turned loud in her ears. “No…” she whispered, stepping back. Her house didn’t feel like a house anymore. It felt like a place someone had already entered mentally. She sat down slowly, forcing herself to breathe. Think. Rationalize. Someone was following her. Someone had taken a picture. That meant there was a physical explanation. Cameras. Phones. A stalker, yes—but a human one. Not something worse. But then her eyes caught something else. On the back of the photograph, faint writing she hadn’t noticed. Another message. “You didn’t see me yesterday at 5:12 p.m. But I saw you see me.” Her throat went dry. That detail— 5:12 p.m.—was exact. Too exact. She remembered passing a small alley near the supermarket at that time. She had glanced at a shadow but convinced herself it was nothing. Just movement. Just city noise. Her fingers clenched tightly. Someone had been there. Close enough to know what she saw. Close enough to know what she ignored. Lara stood up abruptly and walked to the window. She pulled the curtain slightly and looked out. Street still empty. But now emptiness didn’t mean safety. It meant hiding. She closed the curtain again. Her phone buzzed suddenly. She flinched so hard it nearly slipped from her hand. Unknown number. Her chest tightened as she stared at it. For a long moment, she didn’t answer. Then another message appeared. “You opened it.” Lara froze. Her mouth went dry. She hadn’t told anyone about the envelope. No one had seen her bring it in. No one should know. Her fingers shook as she typed. Who are you? The reply came instantly. Too instantly. “Someone who pays attention.” Her breathing became uneven. She backed away from the phone like it was dangerous. Then another message came. “Don’t throw it away.” Her eyes widened. She hadn’t said anything about throwing it away. Another message followed. “It took me a long time to get it to you safely.” Her stomach dropped. Safely. That word didn’t feel right. Nothing about this felt safe. Lara turned off her phone completely and pressed it into a drawer as if that could erase the connection. She leaned against the kitchen counter, trying to steady herself. But her mind refused to slow down. If he had followed her. If he had photographed her. If he knew her movements… Then he knew more than just where she lived. He knew her habits. Her timing. Her mistakes. And that meant— A loud knock hit her door. Lara jerked upright instantly. Her body went cold. The knock came again. Three sharp taps. Not rushed. Not random. Intentional. Her breath caught in her throat as she stepped slowly toward the door. “Who is it?” she called, voice unsteady. Silence. Then— A familiar voice. Calm. Quiet. “I know you read it.” Her blood turned cold instantly. It was him. Lara backed away from the door slowly, shaking her head like that could undo reality. “No… no…” Another knock. This one softer. Almost patient. “I’m not here to hurt you,” he said gently. “I just don’t like being ignored.” Lara pressed her hand over her mouth to stop herself from making a sound. Her heart was beating too fast. Too loud. Like it might give her away. The door didn’t move. But it felt like it was already open in some invisible way. Outside, he continued speaking. “I can leave if you want,” he said. “But I’ll still be close.” A pause. Then the final words, quieter than before: “You’ve already noticed me too much to go back to normal.” And then— Silence. Lara stood frozen, unable to move. Minutes passed. Or maybe seconds. She didn’t know anymore. When she finally forced herself to look through the peephole, the street outside was empty. No one. No movement. No sign of him at all. But something new was now on her doorstep. Another envelope. This time, smaller. And placed closer to the door. Like an answer. Waiting to be opened. If you want, I can continue with Chapter 4 (his identity starts revealing + why he’s obsessed with her) and keep building it into a full long novel.
