On Monday started as usual. Cindy had on a pink fitting skirt, a white blouse and a pair of black heels on her feet and matched it with a pink sling bag. She decided to let her long black hair loose. She looked stunning in the morning.
When she reached downstairs, she found her boss already waiting for her in his car. She got inside the car and greeted him with a smile, "Good morning, boos."
Jonathan was mesmerized by her looks. She always looked beautiful on every occasion, be it office wear or casual wear. He was wondering how ravishing she would look when they go out for dates or in her wedding dress. He was sure she would be the most beautiful bride he had ever seen. He was surprised at his thoughts, she was not his girlfriend yet or have they shared a mutual kiss yet here he was thinking about her in a wedding dress.
He was lost in his thoughts as he looked at her which made Cindy feel self conscious and called out his name.
That was when Jonathan woke up from his reverie, "Hmm, good morning beautiful, did you sleep well?" He asked as he replied to her greeting. "Yea, I did boss," she replied still smiling. "Why are you calling me boss? Didn't I tell you to call me by name if we're alone?" He inquired the little woman. "Yes you did and I like calling you boss, is there a problem, boss?" She stressed the word 'boss' as she asked him with raised her eyebrows at him. Jonathan only chuckled as he shook his head that there was no problem. After buckling her seatbelt, the driver set off for the company.
The driver was already used to how his boss seemed to be treating his assistant and he was glad that boss was showing interest to this particular and specific lady. She didn't seemed like those spoilt socialites who would sometimes accompany his boss to dinner parties. 'Maybe this woman might become the future lady boss,' he thought as he drove.
Although Jonathan's mom was a stern woman who wanted each of her every words to be followed by her son and that their relationship was not that good, the driver had worked enough for the family to know that the woman loved her son and only wanted the happiness of her son.
Before Cindy could begin her normal routine of telling him his schedule as they drove to work as usual, Jonathan beat her to it. "I knew you wouldn't have time for breakfast so I brought something for you, have it before it gets cold. The schedule can come later," he told as he retrieved a back from where Cindy didn't know.
Cindy muttered a thanks as she took the bag. She was glad how thoughtful her boss was, she didn't have breakfast as she thought she would be late if she did. There was a box of warm milk, it seemed to just have been warmed, pancakes and bread. She had her breakfast as they went to the company and only finished as they reached since it was not a long drive to the company from Cindy's place and there was no traffic on the way.
When they got to work, some of the employees were still surprised that a woman was able to get on their boss car. Although they couldn't speak this out loud, they could still gossip among themselves and wonder what kind of woman was their boss's assistant.
Cindy decided to ignored the envious gazes of the employees as she was getting used to them as she reported the schedule to Jonathan as they walked towards the private elevator of the president.
When they got inside the elevator, Jonathan turned to her and asked, "There's a charity event on Saturday at Seasons Hotel, will you go with me as my date?" He didn't want to force her to go with him, although she was his personal assistant and had to go everywhere he went, he still wanted to make her own choices since he was pursuing her and didn't want her to feel caged by him.
Cindy didn't really think much about it and thought that she was his assistant so she had to go, "Uh but I really don't know what kind of dress to wear to such occasion?" Jonathan was glad that she didn't refuse and patted her head gently as he replied, "Don't worry about the dress, you only need to accompany me, alright?" Cindy nodded her head as she didn't believe in herself to find her voice due to the fact that Jonathan was patting her head.
'Ding!' The sound of the elevator opening on their floor saved Cindy from turning all red from blushing because of what Jonathan did. She realized that at the secretary's post at the door was now occupied by a young man probably in his early 20's. She was then informed by Jonathan that the guy was hired by the HR department after him firing the previous secretary.
She nodded at him in greeting as she followed her boss to her office starting off the week with busy work schedules, you know the usuals, reply emails, receive calls, make appointments on behalf of the boss and so on and so forth.
By 11 am, there was unexpected visitor and that was Jonathan's mom. Jonathan was in a business and so Cindy had to leave the meeting and receivehis mom. She thought she was the typical rich women who would make things difficult for their son's female PA's but she found she was different. She talked really politely to her.
"My son had never had a PA, let alone a female one. Say, what relationship do you have with my son?" She asked as she sipped the coffee Cindy had prepared for her.
Cindy had to maintain her serious and polite face when she faxed her boss's mother as she replied, " It's nothing Madam. It's strictly the relationship of an employer and an employee." But deep inside she was very nervous, if Mrs Black would know that she had shared the same bed with his son, had breakfast and dinner prepared by his son, she had no idea what she would do to her.
"Well, if you insist I won't ask much. Honestly my son and I doesn't have that good relationship. It's not that I'm a bad mother but it's because all I want is the best for my son," Mrs Black didn't know why but she felt that Cindy was a nice person to talk to. Since she had managed to work as his son's assistant, she was sure that her son might have fancied her if not she wouldn't be working for him.
Mrs Black then invited Cindy to sit down and chat with her as she waited for her son to finish her meeting. Cindy was nervous at first but when she started talking Jonathan's mom, she eased a little and talked with her freely occasionally making comments here and there.
She even came to know the reason why Jonathan's mom had a bad relationship with her son. When her husband had died, then Jonathan was only 10 years old, there were a lot of people who were coveting their family business. Since she was a woman the people thought that she was easy to manipulate and take over the business.
They plotted against her in various occasions but she was able to overcome all of them. That was because she was a brave and a strong woman who came from a family who people had to strive to survive. Her husband had worked so hard for their business to be that good. She couldn't just sit down and see her husband's sweat get wasted by people who knew nothing but we're only driven by greed.
She had to raise her son on her own in a dangerous environment as she took her husband's business in her own hands to run. She also had to make sure that her son was ready to take over the business when he came of age. That was why she was strict with Jonathan and that ruined their relationship.
She didn't regret bringing up her son in such a way since if she didn't, Jonathan couldn't have made it that far in business. He couldn't have made so many deals and took their family business to that level. She knew her son had never felt her love and only wanted him to be happy.
Cindy was surprised at how Jonathan's mom had lived such a difficult life and still managed to bring her husband's business to such levels and even raise such strong and influential man. They had for such a long time that they even forgot about Jonathan having a meeting.
When Jonathan's meeting was over, he rushed towards his office to see his mother. He was ready for another blind date arranged by his mom. But this time, he was ready to tell his mom that he had met someone and wasn't planning on going on another date
Pushing the doors of his office, he found his mother seated on the sofa with Cindy beside her. They looked so harmonious, just like a loving mother and daughter. Jonathan didn't know but he only felt his heart warm up with the site before him.
When the two ladies heard the door open, they both turned to look at the person who had entered both with bright smiles on their faces. They seemed like old friends who had met each other after a long time.
"Son, you're done with your meeting. I was just leaving by the way." Mrs Black said as she stood up and whispered to Cindy who was also standing beside her, "Please don't reject my son." With that she walked towards Jonathan who was still standing beside the door leaving a blushing Cindy behind.
When she reached beside Jonathan, she said to him in a voice only them could hear, "She's a good one, don't let someone snatch her from you," and walked out. She was acting like a matchmaker between her son and his secretary.
Jonathan could only gaze at his mother's back. He didn't know what they talked about but he liked it that his mother liked Cindy. That was already a bonus for him while pursuing her. He turned towards Cindy with a questioning gaze but the latter only shrugged as she reminded him of his next appointment as she walked towards her office.
So his mother had come to see him but didn't even tell him anything apart from not letting Cindy be snatched by another man? Wasn't she here because of another date with another spoilt princess? He couldn't understand his mom? And Cindy, what was it with her being mysterious with him after talking to his mother? He had a lot of questions but there was no one to answer them since both women had left to go deal with their things.
Maybe he had to cajole Cindy to tell him what she had talked about with his mother.
