Heart of Drakki

1000 years ago, the humans hunted the dragon shifters almost to extinction, you see back then the humans use to rule over all the territories in Zylenthis. And while the dragons were stronger, they could never retaliate because their king had strict laws forbidding any attacks against the humans. King Mikaii believed that they needed to show their rulers they were creatures of peace and not war. So that is exactly what they did, but despite all their efforts at peace the humans kept on attacking them and one day tragedy struck the kingdom. Everyone in the castle rushed to the main gardens when the screams of the Kings sister Ferra could be heard echoing through the castle walls. Even the king was horrified at the bloody scene that lay before him. The humans it seemed had managed to attack the far south of the castle grounds, massacring not only the servants and guards, but anyone who crossed their path. Luckily, they had not managed to enter the castle, unluckily both Ferra’s husband and daughter had been in the south grounds when the attack had happened and were killed by the humans along with all the other dragons. (How a few humans managed to kill almost a dozen dragons is still a mystery up until this day.) Ferra’s youngest child, Damien was now left grieving the deaths of his father and older sister. Unable to witness her son’s agony Ferra pleaded with King Mikaii, begging him to avenge the deaths of their people, but the King refused her request and claimed that any violence against the humans would only lead to more bloodshed. Ferra was enraged by the Kings response, so that night she snuck into his bed chambers wielding a dagger dipped in nightshade and drove it straight through his beating heart, while he slept. Prince Eric, the kings only child, was next in line for the throne, but because he was so young Ferra persuaded the dragon council to Crown her Queen instead. The first thing Ferra did as queen was to declare war against the humans. And a young Damien was forced to grow up watching his once soft-hearted and kind mother become cold and ruthless. As Damien got older, his hatred of the humans intensified, as he did not just blame them for the deaths of his father and sister anymore, now he also blamed them for the change in his mother. It was not surprising when Queen Ferra finally led her dragon warriors to victory, as the dragons had always been the superior species. Dragon shifters from all over, travelled to the castle to cheer the Queen and celebrate their victory. Everyone in the kingdom was thrilled that there would no longer be any more bloodshed and death, but little did they know that both these things would become part of everyday life. Everyone thought the reason for the war was to force the humans into a peace treaty, so that both species could live harmoniously. That was even part of the reason the dragon council decided to forgo tradition and give Ferra the throne, but Queen Ferra didn’t want peace, she wanted revenge. Once the dragon council learned of her real motives, they tried to dethrone Ferra, but it was too late, as she had already won over the loyalty of the Drakii Army. Together with General Galiant, she ambushed the council and forced them into signing a new law. One that meant the enslavement of the whole of mankind. Once again, her army stormed into the human territories, killing anyone that defied their new dragon masters. Eventually all humans were forced to servitude by the Dragons and their ruthless Queen. Well, all except for One village, hidden deep in the forest of Nightshade, the dragons were unable to get to the humans that fled there. And in this Village is where the real story begins, and it all starts with a young woman named Emelia.
