Chapter 09

A month has passed since I came here, most of the days here went by the same. I trained everyday and I've gotten a lot stronger if I do say so myself and I have gained more control over my powers.

'From above... From below...From above... From below' Hero was teaching me to block attacks from different directions 'Now the middle' The last one knocked my sword out of my hand, I lost my footing and fell down while the sword made a clanging sound somewhere behind me

'Your reaction speed is not fast enough'

'It's a little hard when you come at me like that'

'That's the point. Drakon is going to come at you with the intent to kill, if you don't get used to it now you never will' He dropped his wooden sword back on the rack 'Begin 100 sword swings after that we are done for the day's he walked away

I closed my eyes and laid down on the floor exhausted

'You ok?' a voice I know too well asked

'Just peachy' Alex extended a hand to help me up and I took it

Alex has become one of my closet friends now. He's so nice and has helped me a lot since I got here, I'm thankful for him

'Here' he handed me my sword

'Thanks' I started swinging it '1... 2... 3...4'

'So have you made any progress?' I knew he was asking about my hand. During my training with Xanthe we learned that I can only use my right hand. No matter how hard I've concentrated or trained I just can't seem to use my power with my left hand

'Nope, it's still the same I can't use it... 11... 12'

'Maybe it's just late'

'Yeah and maybe I just can't use it, 20... 21... 22... 23'

'So, it seems you spend a lot of time with your teachers'

'Yeah, I've got to get strong and fast'

'You train with Agatha too'

'Well not physically, she helps me with history and stuff ... 29'

'Right well do you... know if'

I stopped swinging for a second 'Out with it Alex stop beating around the bush'

'I need to know if she's seeing someone'

'Really?'

'Yes really, I've had a crush on her for years but I just can't engage a proper conversation with her'

'What is it with people and falling in love' I said remembering Tzuyu

'Hey I didn't say I was in love with her, yet, I just want to maybe ask her out and see where we go from there'

'Theb why don't you, just walk up to her and ask her'

'It's not that easy'

'I done with this conversation, I'm the worst guy on the planet for you to ask this of'

'You're not here to chit chat! Get back to work!' Hero screamed from across the room

I went back to swinging my sword '31... 32... 33...'

'I just want you to find out what she thinks about me and maybe put in a good word for me?'

'Fine, whatever I'll try but try not to get your hopes up'

'Really? Thank you so much' he pat my back

I walked through a market square with Kyros, he said he wanted me to get used to being in the presence of my people

'Good day your highness' a woman carrying a basket curtised when she passed us not only her everybody that passed us either bowed or curtised

'Everyone seems so happy's my eyes trailed to a group of kids playing in a clearing 'Do they know what's coming?'

'I would rather not raise any panic among the citizens'

'Drakon is going to attack this place in 5 months, what will happen to them then?'

'We'll have them evacuate to our shelter so there won't be any collateral damage'

'You can't catch me - oof' a little girl crashed into my leg and fell on the ground

'Hey, are you alright?' she started crying 'no, no don't cry. Do you want to see some magic?' she nodded 'I'll show you but only if you stop crying' she cleaned the tears from her eyes and straighten up attentively

'It seems you have something behind your ear' I reached out beside her ear and plucked a flower from a flower shop stand beside us.

I held the flower out and she gasped with amazement

'How did that get there?' she said

'I don't know, why don't you go show your friends' she nodded and took the flower from my hand to show all her friends

'Look, look, there was a flower behind my ear'

'How did it get there' one of her friends asked checking her ear

'I don't know'

I smiled at the children having fun

'Our future generations, they are going to need someone to protect them which is why you need to get as strong as you can as fast as you can'

'I know I'm working on that'

'I know you are. Come we have a lot to do back in the castle'

I entered the main hall with Kyros and found Agatha already waiting for us

'Is he here yet?'

'He's running a bit late'

'Who is coming?'

The doors sprang open 'sorry, sorry, I know I'm late. My carriage chose the wrong time to stop'

'It doesn't matter you're here now'

'Who is he?' I asked Kyros

'This is Germaine he is your stylist and dance instructor' he bowed

'But for today I'm your dance instructor' he clapped his hands and a boy came carrying a trunk running towards him

'What would I need a dance instructor for?'

'We have begun preparations for your coronation. Now that we are going to make it public that King Amyntas has a son, no doubt Royalties from other Kingdoms and countries would want to meet you. You'll have to show them you belong in the same class with them and one of those steps is learning how to dance'

'Now that I have put on my dancing shoes let us begin' Germaine said 'First we'll start with the invitation, how do you ask a woman to dance with you?'

'Uhh... May I have this - WRONG!!' he yelled

'You must approach her with confidence non of that Uhh business. Try again'

'Alright' I cleared my throat and with more confidence started again 'May I have this - Hold up' he stopped me again.

'Bow a little' I did as he said 'extend your hand' I lifted my right hand 'Never you're right hand' I dropped it and brought out my left 'let it be a little bit above the waist line, raise your head a bit. Alright go'

'May I have this dance?'

'Much better but much practice is needed. Now for the dance, que music'

A small.band in the corner of the room that I didn't notice before started playing a slow music

'Now you must lead the girl to the dance floor like so' he took my hand and led me to the middle of the room 'Now right hand on the waist and left hand to the lady's right hand' he demonstrated it with me in the girl's position 'don't be afraid to get closr' he pulled me closer and I sprang apart

'Sorry but I am totally not comfortable with doing this with you' Agatha giggled

'Alright it is understandable after all we are two men and I just let my assistant on a vacation' he bit his finger in thought, looking around until his eyes landed on Agatha

'You, pretty girl in the glasses'

She looked behind her to see if there was someone behind her 'Me?' she pointed to herself

'Yes you come and be his highness' partner'

'I don't know if I am the perfect choice for that'

'Don't worry darling this is for his highness to learn the steps, you don't have to be a professional'

She looked at her father for permission

He shrugged ' It will be a major hell's

'Ok' she dropped her scrolls and books at a nearby table and took her position opposite of me

A man came into the room and whispered something in Kyros's ear 

'It seems I'm needed elsewhere. Germaine you know what to do'

'Of course sir' he bowed as Kyros left the room 'Now from the top' the clapped his hands and the musicians started playing

'Miss Agatha' I extended my hand, doing everything that I was taught 'May I have this dance?'

'Yes' she curtsied and took my hand

I led her to the middle of the room and placed my right hand on her waist and wrapped my left hand round her right hand

'Yes excellent form' Germaine applauded from the side

'Is this ok?' I asked her

'Yes, everything is perfect' she said in a high pitched voice

'Now Prince Emilio, you step forward with your left leg then move your right leg to the side, she'll follow your movements'

I did as he said and as I stepped forward, she stepped back following my movements

'I did it's

'Greay now step back with your right leg and move your left leg to the side then repeat, it's really simple'

I did exactly as he said and Agatha followed me without missing a beat

'You're a really good dancer'

'I've had practice'

'Now my Prince, try to sync with the music'

I continued dancing trying to match my movements with the music playing

'Prince Emilio slow down' Agatha said

'I'm-' I stepped on her dress causing her to fall while pulling me down with her but at the last second I was able to flip her so that I was the one that hit the floor

'Ow'

Germaine buried his face in his hands 'This is going to take a while. Let's take it from the top everybody' he yelled

'I'm sorry Agatha, are you hurt?' she raised her head from my chest and looked deeply into my eyes. She was so close that I could feel her breath fanning against my skin

'Agatha?'
