THE ALPHA'S STAR

CHAPTER 1 “How would you do this to us?” “I faked it Megan, it wasn't real, it all wasn't real” I stood there in tears as Ryan yelled straight to my face. Something he's never done to me in my entire years with me. “Ryan, it can't be true, it was real, how would you say you faked it?” I tried to convince Ryan, but it felt like I was hoping to convince myself more than Ryan was ready to listen to me. "You're a hopeless wolf, and being with you would be bad for the pack and everything it stands for. I can't be with you.” “Is this really coming from you, Ryan?” A tear dropped from my eyes. “Who else is standing in front of you?” A chill of panic ran down my spine at the stern expression on his face. “OK, forget faking, don't you like me? You can't say all these years together you don't have feelings for me.” "Megan, please be careful not to ask anything you’d eventually regret asking about.” “You can't possibly push all we've had together away, why on earth would you fake our mating?, how is it even possible?” I tried to understand and comprehend how it happened. “It is, and I'm here telling you that I did those things. It was fake. The earlier you accept it, the better for you” “So what now?” “I am mated somewhere else, and I would like to cut all ties with you” “Ryan,” "Leave me alone, Megan. This is Prince Ryan for you.” “I hate you”. I ran from where we stood and that was the last time anyone saw me in that pack. ***************** After I lost my parents, Ryan was the only one who stood by me. He took it upon himself to take care and protect me from the glaring and gazing eyes of the members of the pack. He would always protect me from the bullies and people that taunted me right from high school. We became too close, we couldn't be separated and were sometimes mistaken for mates. We did everything together. I always had a crush on Ryan. We had so much in common, but I didn't know if he actually reciprocated the feeling. His father was not in support of our friendship, and so he warned Ryan off me. Werewolves. We were destined to find our mates when we turned twenty. It doesn't have to be on that day, but we get it before we turn twenty-one, some even longer after that. Mine and Ryan's seemed to be longer. Ryan was to take over his father's place as Alpha when he turned twenty-five. We were both twenty, and it was Ryan's birthday that day. It was a full moon and a total coincidence, but it was a happy day for us both. “Hey Megan, where have you been?” Running towards me, Ryan beckoned at me from behind. Sitting there, hiding from the rest of the pack and avoiding trouble as usual, let me not forget, waiting for Alpha Ryan to come to my rescue”, I teased and tapped the space beside me for him to sit on. “Come on, you know I'm not of age yet.” “Well, soon you'll be, and then I'll be cast aside” I jokingly said with feigned sadness, even though I knew that the possibility of that there was very high. “Who wants to be with an Omega after all?” “Don't say that, Megan, I took it upon myself years ago to protect you, and I’ve always done that till now, five more years to come, and I'll still protect you, Megan. His genuineness was as innocent as a baby, and the intensity of his stare chilled me to the bone. “ Stop saying these things to comfort me, Ryan.” “I'm not saying them to make you feel that way, I am saying them because it's the truth of what I want you to understand.” “Are you trying to ruin my birthday? If you stop it, it's getting to me so hard” I watched as he held his hands to his chest as though his heart was going to pop out. I watched how he smiled and how handsome he looked. I knew I liked him, I also knew something was coming. “No, of course not, happy birthday, Ryan” I smiled and held on to his hands like he was going to run away. He smiled at me. “You look really beautiful today, Megan.” “I thought it would be a little different for you, since today is your day, which also equals mine.” “No, really, you look really beautiful, you've always been beautiful.” “Your highness,” some called from behind. “I think it's time for me to go unveil the new statue” “I can't ever have you all to myself, can I?” “I'm sorry Meg, when duty calls, I have to answer, say what?” “What?” "When the party ends, meet me at our regular spot; I'll be there, okay?" He gave me a kind word and left with the guard. The celebration was already coming to an end. People were trooping out of the square til there was no one left. I waited for Ryan, but he didn't seem to be anywhere around. I decided to go to where we usually met, our spot. It was a very solemn river close to the pack square, the outskirts of the Pack wasn't far from there. People rarely visited that place, Ryan and I were always alone whenever we went there, and we always talked till night fell. Hours passed, and it was getting extremely late. Ryan wasn't there yet. I stood up to go when I heard footsteps from the bushes behind me. “Who's there? Who is it?” I started hearing growling and snarling from the bushes. “Come out, show yourself.” At that point, flashes and memories of my parents started coming back. They were killed by rogues and I started to think that was my end too. ******************* “There is more to you than you think, Megan.” “Mum, stay with me, I can't lose you, dad is gone already, you have to stay.” The rogue was staring at me, watching my mum go slowly. It came at me with force and my mum used her last breath to kill it. That was how she left this world. ******************** I saw a rogue come out from the bushes about to pounce on me. “Nooooo” I covered my face out of fear and then Ryan came out of nowhere. His wolf emerged, and he looked really vicious as I watched him tackle the rogue. It was really huge, and I was impressed at how he fought it. I knew he was the one, but then, there was no sign to prove this conviction. “I thought someone needed help” he said and smirked at me, leaving the animal lifeless on the floor. “Where were you? I was almost turned into a pile of bones by that terrible monster" I said, nagging. He grinned and added, "Well, it's my birthday and I would have loved to see how your pile of bones is.” “ Ha ha, hilarious, where were you? I waited hours here” I said, almost roughing out on him. “We should leave this place quickly.” “Why? I got rid of it.” “I got a horrible memory flash of my mum. Why did those things happen to me?” “That's all in the past now, Megan. I'm here to protect you.” “What if another one comes out impromptu?” "And then I take it up again. The Alpha blood flows through me, Megan, and they are no match.” He took my hand and raised me up. We started strolling down the stream hand in hand. “So, what took you so long, Mr. Alpha’s son?” “Well, I met my parents, and we had to discuss something concerning the pack. It was urgent. I'm sorry I kept you waiting.” I stared at him, “Do you want to talk about it?” "I don't think it matters in this case.” “Oww,” I exclaimed and held on to my neck. “No, not like I don't want to tell you, it's just boring st..” “No, it's not that, Ryan, my neck, it's stiff, I can't move it” My neck was stiff and the pain in that spot was really sharp and extremely painful. “Sit here” Ryan showed me a log of stray wood. I sat, and he came closer to look at my neck. I started feeling some kind of heat like I was being burnt from the inside of my body. “What is going on?” I asked, confused. “I think we are mates,” he replied, also feeling confused. Stuck in the confusion of us being mates. Our eye contact was really genuine. "I truly do not understand what is happening" I said, taking away the sense of quiet between us. “Well, I am not surprised, I really like you, Megan, ever since we met and this only proves that we are meant for each other,” he sounded really sincere. “It can't be possible; it must be an error or something.” “No Megan, the goddess does not make mistakes. Wait, are you rejecting me as your mate?” His countenance changed. “No, I wouldn't,, I like you too, Ryan, but it might ruin our friendship and that is one of the things in the world that I really care about. I don't want to lose it.” “Megan, listen to yourself, I like you, you like me. Let's go ahead and build a family” he said in a rhythmic tone. “Seriously, we are in a very important situation right now, and you are singing?” I said to him with a smile on my face. “I mean, do you love me? If you don't, and you think we are just friends, why does my singing affect you?” he teased me and tickled me. I laughed out loud, “stop, Ryan”. I exclaimed. “Let's not talk about it anymore. By the way, it's nightfall. Let's just go back before we both need saving” We got to the Alpha home, and we were supposed to go our separate ways. He insisted on escorting me to my block. “I have a great idea,” he suggested to me. “No, you should go.” “You think I want to go back into that house and face misery?” “You didn't tell me what went on when you met your parents earlier.” “Forget about them, show me where you are.” Ryan has never come to visit me at the quarters, we only met at school and at the gate. “It's not that impressive.” “I want to see you, you are my mate. I should begin to know these things about you,” “When will you let the pack know about us?” “That will have to be later. For now, let's keep it to ourselves, OK?” I almost thought he was ashamed to call me his mate. Who wouldn't be ashamed to have an Omega without a wolf as a mate? I kept the thought to myself and let him inside. “Wow, this is nice” he exclaimed and walked into my place. “Not so impressive”, I stated, and locked the door. “Well, it's smaller than mine, but this is something that” “Yh, yh, future Alpha, your royal highness, god of the pack, the moon goddess incarnate” I teased him for his unconscious bragging. “I wasn't bragging, Megan, I was just merely stating facts” he replied and pulled me closer into a hug. “What are you doing?” I smiled, but I didn't resist his gentle touch. “We're mates, I think we should both be free with ourselves”, he had a point and I also had been waiting for that confession. “What do you think will become of us now?,” I asked with uncertainty clearly audible in my voice. “What mates do,” he continued, “bask in the warmth of each other's love, bear children and build a home". “And you're sure of that?” He didn't answer that question, but he pulled me closer and planted a kiss on my lips. It became intense, we went with the flow and the night, the most blissful one I've ever had.
