Welcome, Young Master!

Barnett was still speechless after leaving the courthouse. He slowly began to glance at the woman driving the luxury vehicle he was riding in. All this time, no one cared about him except Grandpa and Kim. The world was so cruel to him. She had been orphaned since the age of 7 and was now being betrayed by the person she loved the most. "Are you mad at me for messing up your divorce day today?" asked Kim, who was quite agitated by the silence in the car. "Of course I'm not mad at you. What am I doing to you for always coming when I need help?" Barnett looked back at Kim's face seriously. "I've already told you that that woman just wants to use you. She never saw you coming. Your marriage was also just a distraction from her troubled family," Kim said carefully. "I just wanted to protect her from the evil of our family. Love at first sight made me weak. But not anymore. I can get whatever I want and it's all thanks to your help," Barnett began to touch the back of Kim's idle hand. It was clear that Kim's gaze radiated love for Barnett. However, the handsome man with a well-proportioned body only considered her as a half-sister. Their journey had arrived in front of the luxurious residence in the center of Reedplaced. The elegant residence covered in gold paint looked very majestic and sturdy. In fact, Barnett's eyes could not look away from it. It had been three years since he had left there, but there had been many changes. "Welcome, Mr. Barnett. Please come in," said the man standing at the door of the residence. Barnett's face looked confused when he entered there. In fact, previously, he had received the same call from all the servants working at the residence. The luxurious welcome given flattered him until he forgot the figure of the older man standing beside him from earlier. "Do you still want to stay and stare at the splendor of this place?" asked the old man with his golden cane. Barnett was surprised and realized his grandfather was already there. "Grandfather? I'm very surprised by your presence here. Didn't you say you were still overseas to take care of some business matters?" Ben quickly sat down on one of the sofas in the living room. "I do have a lot of business to attend to. However, how could I ignore your return?" He raised one eyebrow at the sight of his grandson's weak face. "I didn't bring anything for you—" Ben immediately cut Barnett off. "I heard you recently divorced Alice. Did she not treat you well during the marriage?" Barnett's gaze immediately fell on Kim. However, he quickly refocused his gaze on Ben. "No, it's not like that. It was me who was unreliable. There wasn't any problem, Grandpa." "You'll get weaker if you still think about love. Don't be like that stupid young uncle of yours! Don't ever let me down," Ben said, getting up from his seat. "Grandpa, I can—" Ben was reluctant to listen to Barnett's explanation too much. He quickly left and ordered some bodyguards to explain Barnett's initial duties after returning to the Cullen residence. Tomorrow, the Crest View Group company will announce the highest shareholder at an antique auction event in the city center. Of course, Barnett was asked to be prepared to give a speech in front of all the exclusive guests present. "I'm sure you can do it, Barnett." Kim offered her support again. "I will prepare myself the best I can. I'll show them that I'm not the poor, helpless man they say I am. They'll regret it all," Barnett replied with a look that was already looking very sharp. "Hm, welcome back to this residence, Young Master Barnett. I'm sorry to hear about the rumors surrounding your household," said Kendrick, Barnett's youngest uncle. Barnett did not expect to meet the man had never gotten along with there. "I'm very honored to hear your words. However, I'm sorry I don't have much time to talk to you here," he said quickly, turning around. "You just received the gift of maturity. But you already look like the owner of all the inheritance rights in this family!" Ken quipped later. Barnett's footsteps immediately stopped after hearing that. "What about you? You've lived and earned your adulthood gift longer than me. But what have you given to this family, my youngest uncle?" He immediately released one killer smile for the man. There was only a look of hatred and a fist that was about to punch Barnett in the face. However, Ken knew he would be in trouble if he fell for the man's provocative remarks. "We'll see. Who will my father give the biggest share to. Me or you useless bastard?" He quickly walked away. "Never pay attention to anything Uncle Ken says. He's always been like that. You know his bad attitude," Kim said to calm Barnett's heart. "Yes, I won't be easily provoked by his sharp words. I know he'll do everything he can to get rid of me from this family," Barnett replied. "You go into your room to rest." "You too. Hm, then I'll be back. Let me know if you need any help. I'll be happy to help you," Kim said before walking away. The next afternoon, all the reporters were already preparing to cover Barnett's arrival at the entrance. They were also mesmerized by his good looks as he walked along the red carpet. The Cullen family had been keeping his presence a secret for security reasons until a reporter realized that he was the poor son-in-law of Stuart's family. "Isn't he the poor son-in-law of the Stuarts seen in the paper this morning?" a reporter asked. "I can't see his face clearly. But how can a poor man be present in this place?" said another. "He must be joking about being rich. He looks so shameless," whispered another. Barnett didn't really care about all the reporters who had sneered at him. He just held up a finger, and a few bodyguards rushed into action to get rid of all the reporters who had been talking badly about him. Inside, he met up with Alice and Dauren on a unique bench. "What did you come to this prestigious manner for?" asked Alice with an apprehensive look on her face. "Are you afraid of my presence here, Alice?" Barnett immediately looked at the haughty face of the man standing next to his ex-wife. "Why would I be afraid of you? You're poor and have nothing," Alice sneered with a worried look on her face. Barnett smiled sarcastically before saying, "You'll be surprised to see what's here, Alice." Alice immediately frowned. "What do you mean by that?" "Guards! Get this man out of here. His presence will only bring chaos to this event!" Dauren said as he pointed contemptuously at Barnett. All the bodyguards standing around Barnett could only remain silent as they waited for direction. "Why are you guys standing around? Arrest this poor man. Get him out of here!" Dauren commanded once again.
