Mischief

Finally, she couldn’t contain her excitement. “Finally, you’ve done it, Ti-tiiiiiiii!” Mayla shouted, stretching the syllables to tease him mercilessly. “Oops, I mean… Captain Aliyan,” she corrected mid-laugh, realizing she had almost called him by his informal nickname. Aliyan’s eyes narrowed slightly. “You don’t need to call me Titi, Captain Eagle. It only sounds good when you say it,” he replied, genuinely offended, though there was a trace of amusement in his voice. “Alright, okay, I won’t say it anymore,” Mayla said with a playful sigh, trying to hide her grin. Titi—or rather, Aliyan—looked at her thoughtfully. “Can you make amends with her?” he asked quietly. “Will she be able to trust you again?” “It’s difficult,” Aliyan admitted, “but not impossible. She’s a good friend of mine. She’ll understand. I had no other choice—our Master’s orders were clear, and I couldn’t refuse.” His confidence was steady, though a hint of concern lingered in his expression. “Did you report it to the Master?” she asked, curiosity piqued. “No need,” he said with a small smile. “I dropped it off at his house myself.” “What?” Mayla shouted suddenly, her eyes wide. “Are you out of your mind?” Aliyan didn’t flinch. “Now you can’t escape the Master’s punishment.” “I know,” she muttered, a mixture of frustration and relief in her tone, “but I can’t hide it any longer, Captain Eagle.” Aliyan nodded. “Alright, I need to meet Voomchy now. Okay?” “Captain Eagle…” Mayla’s voice softened, teasing once more, “behave yourself. Her name is beautiful—it’s Vania, not… whatever profane name you’re giving her!” “Oh-ho, you’re hurt, my little Captain Aliyan,” Mayla said with a burst of laughter, her figure disappearing into the shadows as her giggle lingered in the air. Aliyan watched her go, a mysterious smile curling on his lips. “I’ll tell you, my dear Captain Eagle, I will protect you… at the cost of my life. But the time hasn’t come yet.” And with that, the air between them held a charged tension—part trust, part mischief, part the promise of challenges yet to come. Mayla hurried to the washroom to freshen up before TT arrived, humming softly to herself. “Now, where’s the toothpaste… where did it go?” she muttered, her brow furrowed in thought. Her eyes scanned the counter. “Ah! Found it!” She reached for a tube, only to pause. The color looked strange, the cap was missing, and there wasn’t even a label. “Well… it’s here, so it must be toothpaste, right?” she said, trying to convince herself. Brushing quickly, she hoped nothing disastrous would happen. Meanwhile, a strange light glowed through the palace corridors. The usually silent halls of Maverick’s estate shimmered green, even though Aliyan had already departed. Mayla frowned. How was it possible that the palace doors opened without her secret password? “Is someone hacking in?” she whispered to herself, anxiety prickling her spine. At that moment, Maverick’s thoughts were interrupted by a sudden scream. “Oh no! Something’s gone wrong… Captain Eagle, I need to go!” Aliyan’s watch blared loudly. He immediately snapped into alert mode. “What was that sound?” Mayla asked, concerned. “This alert is linked to Maverick’s palace,” Aliyan explained. “Something has happened there… I need to go!” Before she could protest, Captain Aliyan vanished in an instant, leaving a faint shimmer of blue behind. Mayla smirked. “Ah… so you’ve been tracking Maverick secretly,” she murmured, a mysterious glint in her eyes. Meanwhile, in the palace, Maverick stormed through the corridors. “Who are you?!” he thundered at the unknown figure intruding into his domain. Suddenly, Aliyan appeared beside him. “Master! When did you arrive?!” he asked nervously, his eyes wide. “And… what’s this strange scent?” Maverick sniffed the air suspiciously. “Oh no…” Mayla froze, realizing her mistake. “What?!” “You’re brushing your teeth with THIS!” Maverick exclaimed, holding up the tube. Mayla’s eyes widened. “It’s… toothpaste!” she stammered. Aliyan and Maverick burst into laughter simultaneously. “Mayla, it’s not toothpaste—it’s shaving cream!” Aliyan howled, nearly doubling over. Mayla’s face flushed crimson, but even she couldn’t help laughing at her own misadventure. “Well… that was an interesting adventure,” Maverick chuckled, shaking his head. And just like that, what began as a mundane morning quickly spiraled into chaos, humor, and a reminder that even the cleverest heroes sometimes make the silliest mistakes. Suddenly, Mayla felt a wave of nausea and rushed back to the washroom, still reeling from the taste of what she thought was toothpaste. TT, or rather Aliyan, couldn’t help but laugh at her flustered expression, while Maverick returned to his seat, his eyes sharp and serious. Somewhere deep in thought, Maverick couldn’t stop wondering how Aliyan had brought her here without permission. “How dare you, Aliyan, bring her here without my knowledge? You know perfectly well who she is!” he thundered, his voice sharp with authority. Aliyan, unfazed, stood there with a calm smile, his confidence unshaken. Meanwhile, Mayla emerged from the washroom, still bitter from the unexpected ordeal. “Who is this, TT? And why are you calling him Aliyan? Aren’t you ashamed? Who keeps shaving cream in the toothpaste box?!” she demanded angrily. Aliyan laughed, brushing off her scolding. “If something had happened to you, Mayla… nothing would have happened to me,” he teased. “This,” he continued, turning to Maverick, “is my friend… Maverick.” He emphasized the word friend deliberately, catching Maverick slightly off guard. The older man raised an eyebrow at Aliyan’s calm confidence. “And… Master…” Aliyan glanced at Maverick, seemingly stunned by his own boldness. “This is Mayla… and she’s not from this world.” Mayla blinked at Maverick, her eyes narrowing slightly in curiosity. There was something strangely familiar about his face, yet she couldn’t place it. Maverick, for his part, maintained a serious expression that only added to her intrigue. She thought to herself, Anyway… I’m here because TT told me to come. She didn’t voice it. But curiosity got the better of her. “Why does he call you Aliyan?” she asked, tilting her head. Aliyan chuckled. “My real name is Aliyan, but my nickname is TT,” he explained casually, his laughter echoing lightly in the hall. Mayla smiled faintly, her anger melting into amusement. The air between them softened, the tension of the shaving cream incident replaced with a quiet, playful camaraderie. Even Maverick, stern as he was, couldn’t help noticing the subtle connection forming between the young heroes. In that moment, amidst laughter and scolding, alliances were quietly taking shape—and new adventures were already on the horizon.
