To Kill An Alpha {Irvine}

1214 Words
The night was exceptionally beautiful, and I only noticed its beauty on the night I would die. I watched from the window tower of Alpha Reed’s castle as alphas and lunas, with their kids, parked their cars and limos, entering the castle one after the other. The cold breeze made me feel alive in that moment, and the presence of the moon gave me strength in an odd way. I am yet to see the Alpha King Kaiden. Tonight’s banquet is to celebrate the blue moon. Last year it was at Alpha Raid’s castle, but this time, our pack is hosting the party. Once the clock hits 12, the moon will change from its gray color to an illuminous vibrant blue, and everyone will be outside to bathe in it. The wind blew, and the smell of oak and cloves wafted into my nostrils. My heart hammered in its cage, and my body trembled. What happened? My tummy coiled, and I felt afloat. This is bad. I can’t kill the Alpha King if I’m like this. My body moved, I don’t know how, but it moved, and I was no longer in control of my limbs. I could only watch in panic as I took the elevator down to the first floor where the party was held. What the heck are you doing, Irvine?! I screamed in my head, and yet, my legs continued to move. The elevator opened, and I got out, in full sprint, I ran to the backyard, to the garden. There at the center of the white-colored rose, under the cherry blossom tree, is a man with a vivid resemblance to Adonis. I gasped. He was gorgeous, tall and screamed power, rage, and everything dangerous, and tonight I will take his life. Wait, what? It happened so fast; my body moved with newfound speed that was nothing close to normal. He turned; I pierced the air with my dagger but missed his beautiful neck by an inch. He managed to dodge my attack, which was impressive by the way. I felt strong hands grab my hands and slammed my back to the tree, but the pain did not last for a second when I pushed and slammed my head on his perfectly sculpted forehead, but it only pushed him away from me and left a safe distance. Again, I attacked, relentlessly. Left and right, I swung my dagger at his neck. He dodged every single attack and made no move to attack me back. While that observation worried me, my body did not stop. I was unbelievably fast that even I could hardly see my hands and legs as they moved. I was confused. Where did this sudden power and speed come from, and what is the feeling in my heart that burns and kills me from within? The only thing my brain is saying to my body is “kill him! kill him!” and I’m sure it has nothing to do with Alpha Reed’s mission. “I’m ending this,” he grunted out in a low voice, and my body automatically froze before he twisted the dagger out of my hand and slammed me back to the tree with his hand around my neck in a loose grip. I could not tear my eyes away from his mismatched eyes. The right one is amber, and the left, sapphire like the blue moon itself. My heart began to beat loudly like it sat in my throat. I wanted to speak or say something, but the look in his eyes rendered me speechless. They appeared warm and gentle, like he found something worth keeping. It made my heart flutter. “Mate,” he said, and I blinked twice. “What?” “So you speak. I was worried my mate was mute,” he added. “Wait, what?” “What’s your name, mate?” he released me, and I took the opportunity to reach for his neck with my clawed hands. Claws? He caught my hands in the air with ease and raised them above my head. This position brought him closer to me and made me realize how short and little I am. “I see the curse is quite effective, but I’m afraid I have other plans for you, mate,” he muttered, just an inch above my lips. My chest heaved up and down as I tried to slow my heartbeat. Why does he affect me this much? More importantly, why do I have claws? “Let me go,” I ordered. He gave me a blunt look. “Try again,” he ordered. Every time he spoke, my lower belly coiled. “Please, let me go,” I begged but only because I can’t think straight with him being this close to me. I looked away from his eyes and landed my eyes on his lips, which was soon a bad idea cause the only thing I could picture was his perfectly shaped cupid thin lips melting on mine. “Promise to behave?” I looked up again and met the mischief in his eyes. “Y-yes,” he let me go immediately, and I took a few steps away from him and allowed myself to breathe properly. I checked my hands to see my claws retract into my nails. “What in the world?” “A hybrid as a mate? This is more of a blessing than a curse,” he appeared before me again and gently took my hands in his. I frowned and removed my hands. “I am not your mate,” I stated more firmly than I thought I could. He simply smiled, and it annoyed me. “And I am not a hybrid!” Why am I shouting? I glared fiercely at him, but his smile did not waver. “Then why does the blue moon affect you this much? What led you to me, and why is your heart beating like it's about to burst?” I felt dizzy; every bone in my body felt as if they were getting crushed. What does he mean by the blue moon? The blue moon is no—" I looked up in time to see the moon turn blue. My body was set on fire; the crackling sound of bones reached my ears as my scream built up to my throat and left my mouth in an ear-piercing volume. I felt the surge of energy spread within me, an intense heat rippled through my veins. I clenched my fists as my bones began to twist and reshape. Each twist made me scream in excruciating pain. I felt my limbs stretch into powerful limbs, and I landed back on the carpeted grass on my fours. It was then that I saw my coat of snow-white fur that covered my paws, limbs, and entire body. I breathed heavily; my body heaved up and down as my senses heightened, catching on to every sound, smell, and movement. It suddenly felt like my body was not my own, and I was only made to watch. I heard one last crack before a newfound primal spirit overwhelmed me, and my head tilted to the sky, and I howled at the moon. What just happened?
