The door opened and two Soviet officers in impeccable uniforms without a single crease walked in. One of them identified himself as Captain Grusow. He was exceptionally polite and even apologized for the inconvenience of having to bring her here.
“We just need to ask a few questions, if you would please come with us,” Captain Grusow said in surprisingly good German.
Zara nodded and followed them. It didn’t matter whether she agreed or not, they’d ask her their questions anyway. She relaxed slightly when they led her upstairs and through the menacing metal doors that kept the U-Boot sealed from the rest of the building and the world.
