The Fallen Hero
Episode 1: The Golden Vessel
Dara was a woman who wore her faith like a crown. In her local assembly, she was the "Mummy G.O." that everyone leaned on. Whether she was sweeping the sanctuary at dawn or leading a soul-stirring worship ministration that left the congregation in tears, she did it with an infectious joy. She was the "jack-of-all-trades" for God, and everyone believed she was untouchable.
One Sunday, as the sun began its slow descent, Dara walked home with her childhood friend, Joy. They had shared everything—secondary school memories, their salvation experience, and their growth in the church. But while Dara was a blazing fire, Joy was more of a flickering candle, faithful but easily swayed by the world.
"Dara, that song today was heavenly," Joy remarked, her eyes bright with admiration. "I saw the way the Pastor’s wife looked at you. Honestly, you should be the one leading the choir department. You minister more than any of the leaders!"
Dara smiled, though a small seed of pride tried to take root. "I am just a vessel, Joy. There is still much to learn from Mummy."
"Nonsense," Joy pushed. "You have the grace. Remember the crusade? People were falling under the power while you sang. If I were in charge, you’d be the head of every department."
That night, as Dara lay in bed, Joy’s words echoed. Do they really see my effort? Am I being underutilized? These thoughts were the first cracks in her armor.
