It happens after the mother/son dance. Pam can’t stop sobbing and rushes to the ladies’ room. This is totally out of her character and Willa and Soozie chase after her to console her. Jonah is now left alone on the dance floor and Jake comes to his rescue. Jake is high as a kite, as expected, but he doesn’t give a f**k what people think. He provides Jonah with a bear hug during “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynrd and asks his brother, “What did you say to Pam to make her cry. She’s making a scene.”
“I told her I loved her, I called her Mom, and then I told her that she gives me gifts every day in my life. It’s not the scene you think it is.”
Jake chuckles, “You’re a horrible and bad son. Way to go. How do you live with yourself?”
“She seems happy right now. We talked about Bill and marriage.
