Chapter 1: Love at First Sight

“Have you found her?” asked by a slim, looking hermit man who was standing at the top of Hope Tower, the tallest building in Athenin a third tier city in Barcelon Province.

“Yes, Young Master Lord.” The middle age man said in respectful manner as he bowed down his body 30 degrees.

“Tomorrow, all is set on your wedding day. I already hired someone to prepare everything for you” he immediately followed.

“Cut the crap! How many times have I to remind you to not call me that name anymore?”

He said calmly but his terrifying look, made the middle age man shivers in fear.

“He was already dead 12 years ago!” He then turn around and leave.

“Understood Young Master Lor... Loyd” as the middle age man respond nervously.

November 11, at the Golden Shell Gasoline Station

“Loyd, you may take your day off today. Follow me to the parking lot” said Manager Kwan.

A little surprised. His eye brows twitched, made an awkward smile then nodded. His mind is occupied with many thoughts. He has no idea of this sudden information and why does Manager Kwan personally ask him to follow him at the parking lot.

“Could it be??? Hmmm…” tilts his head as he murmured… Dirty thoughts flashed across his mind.

“No… No… No… That couldn’t be” he murmured again. In the end, he follows through to Manager Kwan’s order.

In the beginning, there are rumors spreading about Manager Kwan sexuality and many of his employee talk to his back and called him as gay. Being at 46 years old, until now he is still single and yet, no one ever heard or saw him on a date or bringing his wife or having a girlfriend.

Despite knowing this rumor Manager Kwan is still very kind to his entire employees, in fact he treated everyone as his family.

At the parking lot, Manager Kwan ordered Loyd to use the front seat, dirty thoughts flashed across in his mind again while corn size sweat kept flowing from his forehead “where are going Manager Kwan?” asked Loyd while his lips slightly trembled.

Manager Kwan knows what was going on inside Loyd’s mind, thus, he plays with it. He looked him in the eyes, smirks and then tease fully blinks his one eye.

This gesture of him leaves terror in Loyd’s state, shocked by what he saw, his jaw dropped, leaving his mouth wide open that even his whole fist could be fit in. He just swallowed his saliva then took the front sit hesitatingly.

While driving his car, Manager Kwan suddenly handed a 4R size photo to Loyd then asked “How is she to you? Does she look beautiful? Do you want her to be your wife?” Loyd felt amazed of what he saw looking at the lady in the picture, he could not forget the kindness in her eyes. Her gentle touch gives him a second life.

Loyd was completely taken aback “How did Manager Kwan get to know this lady?! How did he know that I was looking for her?!” asked in his thoughts. He could not utter a single word.

He connected the dots and finally gets it.

Manager Kwan was actually the person hired by his subordinate to arrange for his wedding today.

Looking at the photo, memories of her flashed back at Loyd’s head. Twelve years ago he was nearly frozen to death. The weather was cold, he was sick and had a high fever lying in the corner of the busy street beside the building. No one bother about his presence, it was only then, this little girl’s family who showed kindness to him.

Although he was weak and his vision that time was blurry, he couldn’t forget how this little girl cried and begged her parents to bring him to the hospital to save his life. Her parents were a little hesitant to help at first, in the end they couldn’t resist their daughter's tantrum and just agreed with her.

It was after three days when he was able to wake up at the hospital. He never had the chance to thank the family‘s kindness.

A bit regretful, he still managed to ponder something that someone whispers in his ears while he was asleep. Though he couldn’t figure out the entire sentence, the line that lingers most to him is “Find me in the Athenin City…” a soft voice said in his head.

“Ahem, ahem… Are you alright Kid?!” Manager Kwan cleared his throat before asking this question upon seeing a drop of tears started flowing slowly in Loyd’s face.

Loyd finally snapped back to reality.

Don’t know how to respond to Manager Kwan interrogation. His emotional face suddenly turned red from pale that any moment a blood may flow out soon in his nose.

He felt a roller coaster emotion in his heart “It is love at first sight” thought to himself when he finally saw her picture and then smiled from ear to ear.

Manager Kwan kept his focus on his driving. Worried, he made a quick and short glance of him from his side from time to time. He then smiles the moment he sees the awkward but romantic excitement in Loyd’s face.

Manager Kwan's driving skills were so smooth that even Loyd didn’t notice that it was already 30 minutes had passed since they left the parking lot, they had already arrived at their first destination, the Carbon Mall, and this was the largest mall in Athenin City.

All the luxury stores & international branded apparels were sold here. As soon as they arrived they went straight to the third floor right away where the store for Men’s apparel was located.

“Excuse me sir, but you are not allowed to enter this shop with that outfit”

The guard immediately stopped Loyd and denied him from entering the shop upon seeing his outfit.

Shocked! Loyd looked at himself in the glass wall of this shop. He is still wearing his faded work uniform while the cap was still intact in his head without noticing to remove it. “What’s wrong with my outfit?”

The guard was about to be enraged of his question. He keeps his composure and controls his emotions, worried that they might get the attention of the crowd. “Are you nuts? This shop is for rich people. I bet, bumpkins like you can’t even afford to buy the cheapest item from this shop.”

“Looked at the people around you, is there anyone you see wearing cheap clothes?” followed by the guard.

Loyd gave the guard an awkward smile and just bowed his head ashamedly.

The guard was right after all and he can’t blame them for treating him this way. In the first place he never thought that Manager Kwan would bring him to this luxury place and even if he knew, he has no time to change as he has no other nice clothes to wear except for his company uniform.

Without hesitation, he made a two step backwards to avoid the trouble and made apologetic gestures to the guard.

The guard smugly nodded.

Manager Kwan just keeps walking while talking, thinking Loyd was still following behind him “Have you been to this place before?” There was silence but Manager Kwan didn’t mind it, as he thought that Loyd was a bit shy just by entering this place.

Many people looked at Manager Kwan awkwardly, thinking this man is crazy upon seeing him talking to himself alone.

He then found the perfect Tuxedo for Loyd. He immediately approached the sales lady to hand it to him and called Loyd to try it.

“Sir, who are you talking to?” the sales lady asked embarrassedly but still gave him a very nice smile.

Sensing the awkward situation, Manager Wang turned his head and started pointing at the person in his back but suddenly “…?, where is he?” murmured to himself…

All the people inside the shop who had witnessed the scene started murmuring and ridiculing him…

“What a lunatic”

“He must be crazy, why is the shop allowed such abnormal persons to enter”

Although it was still early, there was already a huge influx of customers in this shop.

Manager Kwan didn’t mind people saying nasty things to him at all.

He turned his gaze at the entrance and his eyes caught the image of a thin man wearing a company uniform standing near the doorway, waiting patiently for someone.

He then made his way back and asked Loyd “What are you waiting here for? Come on in! It’s so boring here.”

Then Loyd turned his attention to the guard as he was put in a difficult situation. “I’m fine waiting here and I don’t have anything that I wish to purchase” Loyd Laurent shook his head as he really didn’t feel like going inside the shop.

Sensing something was amiss, Manager Kwan frowned. He immediately realized the uncomfortable feeling in Loyd’s situation.
