Mental State
Chapter 1th the deranged and mentally ill state Rowan was presently in, Jessica still wished to be with him for the rest of her life, letting nothing come between them. Ignoring the ridiculous advice from her family to sign a divorce with him, being with Rowan was what she will stick to till the end of the tunnel.
Jessica majestically walked to Rowan, who was sitting on the couch, staring at her with blinking eyes full of lost thought.
“Rowan, I will never turn you down. Even with the condition you are in now, I will always be with you to love and care for you,” Jessica mumbled, getting closer to Rowan's ear, her hands running through his chest.
All Rowan could do was stare at her without making a move. He had been mentally ill for three years and had been eating trash, in order to survive. Begging for food from one street to the other.
On the night after his wedding, he went missing, never to be found until three years later when Jessica accidentally came across him in one of the streets in Atlanta, eating cabbage from a recycling bin. She stopped her car, walked up to him in shock and surprise, only to discover that he was completely mad. She quickly instructed her guards to get him into the car, taking him to her residence.
When her family discovered about Rowan's being found after three years and his mental health, they ordered Jessica to sign a divorce with him, saying they don't want their daughter to be with a madman. But because she loved Rowan very much, she decided not to do as she was told. They threatened her, stating that if she didn’t comply, they would seize all the wealth she held that belonged to the family and leave her with nothing. She scoffed at their words and decided to follow her heart's desires. That was when her grandfather got angry, seizing everything from her—the company she controlled, the house she bought—and, worst of all, he chased her out of the family, warning her never to return to the villa.
“Rowan, having a child with you is the only way to keep your memories and also a legacy of you by my side. I will make sure I cherish this baby with all my life. All I want from you now is to get me pregnant,” Jessica spoke into Rowan's ear. But it was all futile because he could barely grasp her words, let alone understand them.
She gripped the bottom of his shirt, removing it and tossing it to the other side of the room. She gently swung her legs over Rowan's lap, facing him directly. she ran her hands seductively over his hairy chest, caressing it down to his trousers, while her lips connected to his, forcing a kiss from him. Just as the scheme was unfolding, Jessica's phone began ringing.
She stood up from Rowan's lap and walked to pick up the ringing phone. Upon reaching it, she saw it was her mother calling.
“What is she calling me for? I thought she contributed in chasing me out of the house, pressuring me to sign the divorce,” Jessica mumbled with a furious gaze toward her phone. She hissed then turned back to Rowan, but the phone kept ringing, making her heart raise in annoyance this got her confused and thought of picking the call. She walked back to the phone and picked it up. Just as she was about to speak into the phone, a raspy voice sounded.
“What's wrong with you, Jessica? Why haven’t you been picking my calls? Are you stupid?” her mother’s voice boomed, rising with anger and making Jessica’s flinch a bit.
“Mom, why are you reaching out to me now, after months? Do you want to put more pressure on me to leave Rowan? Is that it? Because I can see that's the only thing you can do—nothing else. You allowed grandfather to chase me out, seizing everything from me, just because I want to live with the man I chose and truly love,” Jessica yelled angrily at her mother through the phone with a clenched fist.
“I won’t exchange many words with you over the phone. All I want you to know is that grandfather is celebrating his birthday and has requested everyone to be present at the celebration and that doesn't make you an exception. I want you to be there,” Jessica's mother instructed flatly.
“I’m not part of the family. Did you forget? You all ripped away everything I possessed that concerned the family wealth. Why include me in your nonsense affair?” Jessica responded with disgust, gripping her phone tightly as anger spread across her face.
“I have one thing to tell you, Jessica—and you know me as a woman of my word. If you fail to attend grandfather’s birthday party, I promise to locate you, seize the only place you live now, and, to make it more interesting, I heard you are still taking care of that lunatic called your husband. I promise to get rid of him if you don’t always comply with me. Remember, you can’t run or hide from me. I have eyes all over Atlanta. Be at the family villa in three hours, or see what I will do to you,” Jessica's mother spat angrily with threatening words before ending the call.
Jessica let out a loud shout, burning with rage. Her hands trembled as her fingers gripped her phone tightly, as if she wanted to smash it. She threw the phone on the desk, then walked to the bathroom to shower so she could get dressed for the birthday party.
When she finished dressing up, she went to Rowan, gave him a peck on the cheek, and said softly, “Rowan, just wait for me a little. I will be back. Please, I’m doing this in order to keep you safe.” She coaxed gently before walking out of the house.
After she was gone, Rowan was beginning to respond to her words using body language. his fingers twitching, lips started raising slightly, his brows moving simultaneously. His teeth gritted together as if he wanted to speak. Suddenly Rowan fell to the ground from the couch he was sitting on. He gripped his head in pain, his feet curling.
“Ahhhhhhhhh!” he lend out a low, rambling sound in pain. Suddenly, he began regaining his memories. He remembered the night after his wedding when he was with Jessica, having a romantic moment. The pain began getting intense and Before he knew it, everything went blank, and Rowan passed out.
Some hours later, Rowan woke up, finding himself in an unrecognized room. This was not where he last remembered being when his cousin Jordan offered him a drink. He recalled the last thing that happened before he went blank.
“I was poisoned,” Rowan snapped with realization. “It was after the drink Jasper offered me that everything went sideways,” he mumbled to himself while checking his body. His clothes had been changed, but who had been taking care of him all this while? Rowan wondered with a confuse thought.
“jordan was behind this. He planned this evil against me, and I promise to make him pay—and anyone who joined hands to ruin my life, they will all pay.” With his thoughts of rage, his mind suddenly snapped back to Jessica. “But first, I have to look for my wife and make sure she’s safe,” Rowan muttered through gritted teeth.
While Rowan was staring around the room like a scanner, his eyes suddenly caught sight of Jessica’s phone on the desk. It turned out Jessica had forgotten her phone when she left home to the villa. Rowan went to the phone and picked it up. The phone light blinked open and Rowan was surprised to see Jessica’s picture displayed on the wallpaper of the phone, he remembered her face in an instant.
“Jessica,” he muttered, his fingers brushing over her face on the phone. Without wasting any more time, Rowan unlocked the phone using the hacking skills he had learned during his military days, then quickly dialed an encrypted phone number and placed a call.
