Shattered Wedding
Marcella’s POV For a moment, it seemed like the world around me stopped. I couldn't move. I couldn't think. Whispers and murmurs filled the room, while all eyes stayed glued to me. The bouquet trembled in my fingers… the soft background music only added to my pain. The priest looked at me in a way that made me want to disappear. And my friends and family—they were watching. I wanted to take off my heels and run out. I wanted to break down and cry. But I didn't. The word ‘hope’ kept me standing… It kept me breathing and believing that this isn't the end of the world. Maybe something came up? Maybe he is just running a little late? He could be trying to get me a special gift? Harris was never a time-cautious person. He might be playing a prank on me. I forced myself to believe these things. Sofia left the crowd and walked up to me, something resembling guilt flashed in her eyes. She held my arm and whispered, “It's gonna be fine Marce.” No! It isn't going to be fine. Harris never wanted this wedding in the first place. It was all my idea. An idea that was crashing right before my eyes. I looked around me, and without hesitation, I picked the hems of my wedding gown and ran out of the hall. “Marcella… Marcella…” I heard the voices of my father, my mother and Sofia chorus behind me. Tears threatened to drop but I didn't let them. I should have known all this while. Harris wasn't interested in this marriage. I won't cry. I won't break because of a guy who dumped me at the altar. He doesn't deserve my tears, he doesn't deserve me. I got in my car and drove off at full speed. I wasn't in control of the car, the feeling of betrayal and hurt was. I didn't know where I was driving to. I just wanted to flee. I wanted to forget that all this ever happened. ‘This is a nightmare, it isn't real’ I murmured to myself. Hours later, I halted at the front of a club – Elites Dynasty. The place was filled with loud cheers and music that almost blasted my eardrums. Elegant men sat. Strippers held the poles. Waiters and waitresses moved around. Yes, this is it. This is the perfect place for me to be right now. Everyone turned their gazes to me. Surprised as to why a woman in a wedding dress is at the club. Some of their gazes were judgmental, while others were pitiful. But I didn't care; none of their thoughts mattered to me. I sat on a stool. The bartender's eyes scanned through me. “Good day ma'am, what would you like to order?” He asked with a forced smile. “Everything…” “Everything?” he questioned. “It’s not in your place to question me. Do your job.” “Alright ma'am.” He poured a mixture of tequila and something I couldn't recognize into a glass cup. I didn't question him – I didn't bother to. I took it and drank it all in one smooth, bitter, long gulp. My eyes blurred. The taste was different, it elevated me to another level. I put down the cup and smiled. The bartender watched me with remorseful eyes. I didn't mind him, I took a lot more careless shots. “Give me vodka,” a deep voice resounded. The voice sounded familiar. Due to my drunken state, I couldn't tell who it was. I turned to look at him. He was dressed in a sharply tailored suit, his eyes glistened under the club's light, his silver hair fell to his face. His presence commanded respect. It was my boss – Antonio Martinez. “Marcella?...” He called, but I didn't respond. “Isn't today supposed to be your wedding?” He asked in astonishment. “Today is my wedding Mr Martinez, I am in my wedding dress,” I laughed hysterically. “Sir? Do you know her?” The bartender asked. Antonio nodded. “I don't think she is in a good condition,” the bartender added. “You should go home Marcella,” Antonio muttered. “I can't… I can’t… go home sir,” I said, taking my glass, but Antonio snatched it from me. “You're already drunk.” “I have… an idea Boss… take me somewhere,” I smiled as I stood to my feet. I stumbled a little, Antonio caught me before I fell. “You don't know what you're saying.” “I know… I know… what I am saying,” I wrapped my hands around his neck for balance. His eyes displayed unreadable emotions. I stared into his cold blue eyes, they intoxicated me, his nose was structured perfectly… and his lips, they were pink, thin and kissable. Kissable? Without thinking, I locked my lips with him in a hot wet kiss, his hands found their way around my waist. His lips were so soft, I wanted to bite them. I tried to pull him closer, and felt him do the same. Without holding back, I bit down on his lower lip, hard. He tasted of coffee and cinnamon. It felt delightful enough for me to tangle my tongue with his in a wet caress. I wanted more. I wanted everything. Sadly, he broke the kiss, “You've started a fire Marcella, it might burn you,” he whispered. “I wanna get burnt, Boss.”
