I entered Raíz alongside Green Eyes, I noticed her hesitation probably because she wasn't expecting the fancy environment .
I couldn't help but smile, as her expression of shock was endearing.
"It's okay, you're perfect," I assured her, and I meant it. Her purple dress beautifully brought out the color of her eyes, while her skin seemed to glow under the ambient lighting. Even the shy smile she offered in response to my compliment was captivating.
I placed my hand on the small of her back as we made our way into the dining area. Upon approaching the host, he promptly inquired about my reservation. While a reservation wasn't necessary for me, I handed him my card, which revealed my status as a Stone. My father's influence in the region, primarily due to our business, has its perks.
"Right this way, sir," he said, leading us to a private corner table, away from prying eyes.
I pulled out a chair for her, pushing her in as she gracefully took a seat.
"Oh, why, thank you," she said with a smile, as I settled in across from her.
"Mr. Tyla doesn't need a reservation, huh?" she playfully teased. I responded with a scoff, and then signaled for a waiter to bring us the menu.
"So, you're a regular here, or...?" she asked, her curiosity evident.
"Yeah, something like that," I replied, knowing that my family's influence in the area granted me certain privileges, though I didn't want to bore her with the details.
"That's amazing," she responded.
"I guess," I said, turning my attention to the menu.
"So, what would you like?"
She scanned the options, her eyes wide with delight.
"Crazy."
"What is?" I inquired, confused by her vague response.
"The fact that all this food seems incredibly delicious, and it's so difficult to pick just one!"
Her response elicited a chuckle from me, and she looked at me, smiling beautifully. Her lips were undeniably alluring.
"What? Why are you laughing?" she asked.
"It's just that you must really love food if you can't decide," I teased.
Our eyes locked for a moment as we both laughed, and in that instant, I knew this was going to be an amazing evening
"Well, forgive my dilemma," she scoffed, her green eyes sparkling with amusement.
"No, it's fine," I assured her
"My beautiful, clumsy foodie. I like it," I admitted.
Will you ever stop calling me clumsy?" she asked, feigning annoyance.
I smiled "Probably never, especially after you bump into me not once, but twice," I teased, she rolled her eyes
"Ok fine, apologies," I chuckled.
"You know what? I have an idea," I said signaling for the waitress and getting a curious look from those green eyes
"Yes, sir. Please, what would you like?" the waitress inquired.
"I would like...a sampling of all your finest dishes ," I announced, my gaze fixed on Green Eyes.
Her surprise was evident as she exclaimed,
"Robins!"
"Sir?" the waitress questioned, seemingly confused by my request.
“Did I stutter ?" I asked
"Oh, no, sir. You didn't," she replied before retreating to prepare our extravagant order.
"You can't possibly do that," Green Eyes said in awe, her gaze searching mine for confirmation.
"Well, I just did," I confirmed, grinning. Though I'm not one to flaunt my wealth, it seems the lady in front effortlessly makes me do the craziest things.
And within no time a tray of diverse dishes was headed our way, carried by two waiters.
“Sir, these are all our most ordered dishes” the supposed head waiter said, carefully arranging them on our table while those that couldn't fit remained on the tray.
“Perfect” I said as the waiters walked away then my attention came back to the pretty lady in my front
"You must really be…” she started
“Who's going to eat all this food?" she asked, though her eyes lingered on the artfully presented totoaba fish.
"So you're not going to eat them?" I countered, unable to hide my smirk.
"I am not going to eat them," she affirmed, matter of factly
"I bet," I said, anticipating her curiosity.
"Okay, I am so tasting it," she declared, deftly using her chopsticks to sample a piece.
“Mhh” a moan escaped her lips, and I couldn't help but wonder what that would sound like elsewhere
"This is so good," she said, prompting me to savor the fish for myself, which I did
"I'm definitely leaving a review online; this is outstanding," I remarked, genuinely impressed by the dish's quality.
"Don't say that until you taste this," she said referring to the Kampachi crudo with burnt shishito paste
"No, you have to try this first," I said, giving her a spoonful of another delicacy, she opened her pretty lips to taste it. Hot!!
"Okay, mine tasted better," she joked, as we both laughed
Soon, we were engrossed in sampling various dishes and laughing through conversations.
This had to be the best night I'd experienced in a very long time.
As the evening came to an end, I held her hand as we made our way out of the restaurant.
"I had a really amazing time, Robins," she confessed, our steps slowing as we approached the car.
"Yeah, I did too," I admitted, turning to face her, noticing her subtly exposed chest.
I returned my eyes to hers. In that moment time stopped as we stared at each other.
Losing myself in the moment. I leaned in slowly in an attempt to capture her full lips with mine. She was still in that moment and I guessed she anticipated this too.
As I closed the distance between us, she tilted her head, a gesture of disagreement
"I'm sorry," she whispered, taking a step back, creating a distance.
"No, it's fine," I replied,
I opened her car door, and she slipped into the seat. We drove in silence throughout the ride
"Good night, Robins," she said, stepping out of the car.
"Good night," I responded, watching as she disappeared into her home.
The drive back was a solitary one.
