2023 THIRD PERSON POV The Maria medical hospital was at its busiest. Its recent surge in fame has attracted patients from far and wide. The influx of patients filled the rooms, breathing new life into the hospital's corridors and generating funds for the advancement of their research. In just twenty minutes, an elderly woman was scheduled to undergo a complex surgical procedure. Her diagnosis had revealed an aggressive cancer, leaving her family distraught and desperate for a miracle. "We've tried countless hospitals, but none have been able to help her," the woman's son explained, his voice tinged with despair. "Please, Doctor, you're our only hope. Please save my mother," he pleaded, his eyes locked on Dr. Robins. "Please save Granny," the man's young daughter chimed in, her tiny voice trembling as she clutched a worn teddy bear to her chest. "I'll do my best," Dr. Robins promised. He saw himself in the young man. A son that was just hoping for a miracle that'll keep his mother alive for him. In his case that miracle was not possible but in this case, he knew he would do all it takes to give the man a miracle. He excused himself to prepare for the challenging operation. Putting on his surgical scrubs and gloves, Dr. Robins collected the essential instruments for the procedure. He then stepped into the adjacent preparatory room, where his team of skilled surgeons awaited his arrival. The room fell silent as he entered, and the surgeons greeted him with a mix of respect and anticipation. "We have exactly fifteen minutes until the surgery commences," Dr. Robins announced, his voice steady and commanding. "Diane, kindly review the surgical plan with the team." Diane, the assistant surgeon, stepped forward, her eyes scanning the group of medical professionals. "We're dealing with a case of angiosarcoma," Diane started. "So our goal is to remove the tumor.” She continued “We have to excise as much of the tumor as possible, aiming to reduce its size and alleviate symptoms. Alright?” She said as they nodded in response “I am sure everyone understands their roles as we have previously discussed” “Yes we do” the other four surgeons chorused Dr. Robins surveyed the team, seeking confirmation that each surgeon understood their role. "Is everyone clear?" In unison, the surgeons nodded. Dr. Robins led the way into the operating theater where the surgery began. While Dr. Robins was occupied with intense surgery, a mysterious male figure made his way into Robins' office. He studied the space, it looked a bit different than he remembered. Settling into Robins' chair, he pulled out a cigarette and a lighter. As he took a long drag, he turned the chair around and looked out the window. After 5 hours of a stressful surgery, it was finally over. Dr. Robins addressed the other surgeons, "Excellent job, everyone.” he said as he made his way to the waiting room to deliver the news. Before he could say anything the man already ran to him, with hopeful eyes and voice he asked “Dr. Please, how was the surgery, is my mom ok?” Robins let out a small smile as he responded A small smile graced Robins' face as he provided assurance, "The surgery was successful. Your mom is doing perfectly fine." The father and daughter screamed. They expressed their gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Doctor," the young girl managed to say between sobs. Once again, Dr. Robins was reminded of why he chose this profession and the true meaning of saving lives. "Can we go see Granny now?" the girl asked innocently. "Wait just a little longer," Robins replied gently. "She's being moved to the recovery room. You'll be able to see her soon." "Thank you," they said, as Robins excused himself and made his way back to his office. As he approached, he noticed the door was ajar. The unusual smell of cigarette smoke wafted through the air. Upon entering, he found a male figure sitting in his chair, facing away from him. Robins didn't need to see his face to know who it was. "Enrique," Robins called out in his smooth, deep voice, prompting Enrique to turn around. "Long time no see," Enrique said, smiling and happy to see his friend again. "You didn't tell me you were coming. Diane didn't mention it either," Robins noted, a hint of surprise in his tone. "Oh, she didn't know either. You know I love a good surprise," Enrique replied with a wink. “And besides, you're all so busy saving lives," Enrique said. "Welcome back," William replied. "How's the team?" He asked "Good, good. They welcomed me faster than I imagined," Enrique admitted "Yeah, typical Scorpionos," William said with a smirk. "So, any news?" He asked hoping for some information “Yeah, I got some information about….” "Before you go on, put out your cigarette. This is my office," William interrupted, pointing at the lit cigarette between Enrique's fingers. "Ok, ok, sorry," Enrique laughed, extinguishing it. "As I was saying, according to the team, on the day of the accident, your dad went alone to get the supply from the outskirts of town. That's when he was attacked." William's brow furrowed. "Yeah I know, though I've always been suspicious of that story. My dad would never go alone. At least one of his men would always accompany him for any business." He stood up and started pacing around the room. "Exactly, I'm getting there," Enrique continued. "The supply that was to be collected that day was 50 cans of plutonium-238. Richard went alone and was captured, he wouldn't have been able to collect the supply and transfer it back to the Scorpionos." "So what are you saying?" William asked, his voice laced with concern. "During my stay with the Scorpionos, I went through their records. Turns out the 50 cans plutonium that Richard wasn't able to collect were sold exactly five days after the incident." Enrique blurted out making Williams to do some quick thinking "That means someone had gone with Richard Stone that day, who delivered the package back when Richard was captured," William deduced. Enrique nodded. "Exactly, and I'm guessing that person is the one who gave out Richard's location to the Double Axe Mob." "Strange," William muttered, lost in thought. "The team still stands by the fact that he went alone, though," Enrique added. "Interesting. They must be covering up for someone, then," William said, his mind racing with possibilities. "We must find out who.” He strictly stated “And what about the Double Axe Mob?" he continued "I'm still gathering information on them. They've always been our rivals, but turns out what might have enraged them was the venom shipment we stole from them," Enrique revealed. "Where was the shipment initially headed?" William inquired. "Their local warehouse. I know where it is, though I haven't been able to find out their headquarters—where they hold their meetings," Enrique explained. "It's fine. You've done well, Enrique. No need to rush things. The best revenge takes the most time to execute," William said calmly. "You're right, Will," Enrique agreed, admiring his friend's determination to seek revenge.
