Chapter 5 Tom overslept the next morning and found that, as the excursion to the vineyards had already left, his decision was made. No time for breakfast as he collected his things, including his iPad, gave in his room key at reception and walked down the gangway along a short wooden jetty to the waiting coaches. Mike, Miranda and John were on the second coach and, as he reached the road, they waved at him to join them. “We didn’t realise you were on this trip,” Miranda said, “or we would have met up earlier.” Tom explained it was all rather last-minute, he had not signed the list, had overslept and missed breakfast, so he was looking forward to some French coffee and croissants when they stopped at the market.
