Chapter 4

2633 Words

CHAPTER 4 After the stranger had ridden away, Charley stood on shaky legs, wiping the dirt off her backside and grabbing her clothes. As she dressed, she watched the path to ensure he didn’t return. Although given the way he’d stormed off, she didn’t think she had to worry. Mounting Omega, Charley still had no idea what had made him so irate. He’d clearly found her attractive—that much she’d seen in his eyes. But what had made him angry enough to push her? Was it her name? Mason? She knew the Mason name was well-known in the region, but most people liked the Masons well enough, even though her father had made some political enemies lately. That cowboy didn’t look political, though. So why the hell had he shoved her away from him? She’d fallen in the dirt, for Christ’s sake. The bastard.
