Deer Creek, later known as Roseburg, is where Clarence told Lenoir he felt they were close to home.

Using boards from boxes and slabs of tree bark, Clarence created a storage area under their wagon. Lenoir then made a place inside for them to sleep. This was the beginning of the temporary camp that would become their first homestead.

In the early morning Lenoir crept from the wagon and reinforced her kitchen setup. Starting a breakfast of venison and bread with the remaining tea.

Clarence finished breakfast just as Destiny started to fuss and wake.

"I have a lot to do." He said, and went to the jockey box for tools.

Clarence built the cabin quickly, hardly taking breaks to eat or sleep, only really pausing in the hours too dark to safely walk through their woods. The house he built wa
