Deer Creek, later known as Roseburg, is where Clarence told Lenoir he felt they were close to home. Using boards from boxes and slabs of tree bark, Clarence created a storage area under their wagon. Lenoir then made a place inside for them to sleep. This was the beginning of the temporary camp that would become their first homestead.
