Sparring for Love

Gael's POV I woke up the next morning, still upset at Princess Jewel's rejection. Honestly, I thought that was a brilliant plan. I would be guaranteed pups from both women. One of which would become King. I looked at the time, 6:45 am. I called my off-duty best to come with me. My cell rang. "Hello?" "Gael," The male voice I knew so well spoke. "Ivan." I grinned. "What are you up to?" "I don't know why the message last night?" I could catch his Russian accent, he was my half-brother from my father's trip to Russia. "Yeah, I need extra eyes I can trust." I figured asking him to come to the castle would help me, keep eyes on the odd guy Tau, and maybe he could help me distract them so I could get more time to change Jewel's mind. She is a southern wolf, her father had 6 mates. I have a feeling she just needs to understand it will be a great plan for us. "What's going on?" He seemed unconcerned about it even though he asked. "I had a succubus get into the castle, Lobos maybe getting take out as head and the new Princess is likely my second chance mate." I let the words fly out of my mouth fast, I need to be at the training ground in 10 minutes. "Well hell, all you had to do was say Lobos was getting kicked out." He chuckled. "I hate that old prick. I will fly down in a couple of days. I need to finish this job first." Suddenly he was quiet. "Thank you, gotta go." I hung up. I had to run to make it to the training grounds. I was not going to pass up a chance to trade punches with the man who had my lady's arm! ********** Jewel's POV ********** Tau met me in the hall, so did Hawk and Jakarta. Hawk and Tau started walking ahead and talking about something intensely. "How are you this morning?" It was Jakarta's voice that pulled me from trying to hear their conversation. "I am good." I realized then she spoke, she had been pretty silent to everyone until now. "How are you?" She smiled, "I am good, I have to say your brother is a gentleman." She looked ahead at my brother. "Momma raised him good I think." I chuckled. "What is your mom like?" Jakarta's eyes held a little worry. "My mom is awesome, when the coronation happens, she and our dad will be here. You will have nothing to worry about. They were always worried he would be rejected." I placed a hand on her shoulder in comfort. "Really? Why would anyone want to reject him?" Her eyes showed me just how surprised she was. "Growing up he was labeled autistic, my mother and our biological father found lots of ways to try to help him. It wasn't until he was bitten by the rogue wolf, and Shaman gave him Tys that he began to grow out of the shell he had been trapped in. He doesn't talk very good, and was made fun of by humans." I looked at the massive man that is now my brother. I was full of pride. He had managed so much more than what was expected of him. "That is the scar on his stomach?" She too turned her gaze to my brother. "Yes, happened when we were helping another pack out. The rogues had the Luna but one decided to bring my brother for whatever reason." I shrugged. We were outside now and could see the field in the distance. "Oh," She was getting quiet, I noticed she looked at the people and became nervous. "You are safe here, I promise." I looped my arm into hers. "There is no one who would touch you." I strode with the others. Jakarta was a quiet one and I had been the first she talked to. I was so happy! My smile fell as Gael and a crew of men showed up behind us. "I was told I would get to spar today?" He glanced at me with a smirk. "Who is he sparring with?" I found Athens to ask. "Tau," Athens fangs were exposed he was grinning so hard. I let go of Jakarta to grab Athens, "Why?" I hissed in his ear. Athens chuckled, "You know exactly why." He laughed. "Just like your mother, grabbing beefcakes off the shelves for your little man mob." He was still grinning when he walked away. Jakarta put a hand on my shoulder now, "Hawk already said everything would be fine. They have a plan." She gave me a weak smile and I followed her to the side of the field so we could watch the fight. Hawk came to stand with Jakarta and me. "You know this was gonna happen." Hawk gave me the dad look we use to get from our dad Joe. "I was not expecting it, honestly." I shrugged. I looked out onto the field to see Tau and Gael. Gael removed his shirt exposing his tattoos and his ripped physique. Tau just stretched his arms and glanced around till he saw me. He smiled big and gave me a wink. I grinned right back and blew him a kiss. I watched Gael's body language stiffen. "Begin!" Athens shouted. Both began to circle each other. I noticed, that each was gauging the other. I was fully invested in seeing how this played out. Gael moved in and hit a spot on Tau, moving away to see what his hit did. Each time you could see that it did not bother Tau. Tau kept letting him do it. He would try different places expecting him to react. When he didn't, he just tried powerful blows. (Ok, I should say normal wolf power.) Tau could withstand Mortou, and even my dad, Joe. My dad Joe is noted for knocking people 20 feet or more. When Mortou and Dad rough house, trees get knocked down. Pretty normal in Hawk and I's world. Tau use to fight the three of them. We would ask them to fight where we needed trees cleared for new places on the farm. This right here was child's play. Tau was letting Gael wear himself out. Gael did a one-two punch on Tau's pretty little face. I still giggle when I think of what I told him that day we first sparred. There was no warning I could see, Tau released a seires of massive blows. Gael was flung 30 feet past the group of guys Gael had brought with him. Not a single wolf there bothered to try to challenge Tau after watching Gael fly through the air and land with a thump thump like a skipping rock.
