Gael's POV
I was heading back out to the training field when I got a text message. I pulled it out to see it was from Ivan.
Ivan: I need you to pick me up from the airport. Be there in 4 1/2 hours.
Me: Ok I will head out shortly.
Ivan: your ass better be there
Me: I will
I needed to tell Athens or Jewel's brother. I walked out to the training field to see Jewel going toe to toe with the Head vampire Athens. They were moving faster than I had seen her do with anyone else. I stood in awe of it. If that was her actual fighting speed, nobody I knew, ok including Ivan could stop her.
"She has been training with him since she was 10." Leon came to stand next to me. "We tried her as you guys did and all of us got our asses handled. I didn't realize how stupid we looked until you guys did the same." He chuckled.
"How did you end up with them?" I turned to ask the young wolf.
"Linzi my adoptive mom asked me to come to help her." He shrugged.
"Adoptive?" I raised a brow at that. The fact that Lobos had lost his s**t over asking who his parents were the first day clicking in my head.
"Yep, she found me as a baby. My mom and dad had been killed by hunters. So she took me back to raise me at her den." He continued to watch the fight with Jewel.
"Den?" I couldn't help but ask.
"She is mated to him." I watched as the kid pointed to the originally cursed werebear. My jaw dropped.
"You grew up as a child of the cursed bear and his mate?" Pretty sure my eyes were saucers.
"Yep, those are my parents." He shrugged. "I think mom is coming to Jewel's coronation too."
"Ouch!" Our attention was drawn to Jewel and Athens. Jewel had stabbed him in the chest with her dagger. Jewel yanked the dagger out.
Athens came to us, his chest bleeding a grin on his face as he said, "I get to meet your mom?"
"Um, yeah." I heard Leon say like it was no big deal.
"YES!" Athens did a little happy dance. "Worth getting stabbed!" He chuckled as he walked away.
"He is the strangest one I have met." Leon shook his head to walk away.
"Athens!" I hollered at his departing back. The tall blonde vampire turned. His blue eyes still glittering with merriment.
"Yes, beefcake?"
"I need to go pick up my half-brother from the airport. We ok?" I asked.
"Yep do what you gotta do." He waved me off. I watched him trot over to where Jewel was standing with Tau. I was told they were mates but had never seen anything like them. Jewel had her arms around his waist. He had one arm around her. I still wanted to be him. Turning on my heel, I left the training grounds to head to my Jeep to go get Ivan. I also needed to fill him in on the dragon threat too. Maybe he knew some people who could help.

Tau's POV

Jewel, Hawk, Athens, and I were in the dining hall sitting across from 10 other family heads. She was going to tell them about the dragon threat.
"I called this meeting as we have an issue that had come up faster than I thought it would." Jewel began. I eyed all of them. It had been 24 hours since Gael's beat down. I am pretty sure they knew who I was.
"What could be important enough to drag us away from Lobos' investigation." Huffed Emiliano.
"All 17 dragons have agreed to wipe out every Southern wolf around." Jewel's answer is perfect.
Three of them stood. I eyed each of them. They paused and gulped, retaking their seats. Smart plan boys.
"You remember the prophecy of a Southern wolf bearing a true dragon borne?" Jewel looked at each man.
"Yes," a few nodded in understanding.
"The mark of the prophecy was for a red dragon to appear. The red dragon attacked me while in South Africa. If not for Tau's knowledge of dragons, I would have been killed." I placed a hand on her shoulder in support.
"Why are we just now hearing about this?" Andrès Chen voiced the question.
"The dragons sent a messenger yesterday, He says in 6 months they will attack and wipe us out." Jewel paused to look up at me. I nodded silently. "Tau has placed a ward on these lands around the castle to protect us from royal blooded dragons." She paused looking at each man. "They are going to wipe us out so there cannot be a dragon borne." Jewel placed her hand on mine as she continued. "I am retraining the guard to be like my father wanted. I would like your support in gaining the throne so that I can help train the rest of the southern wolves to better protect themselves and their families. I have no idea where the dragons plan to style first."
"Let us think on it today, we shall get back to you tomorrow." Emiliano rose from his chair.
"Is the man behind you your mate?" Mateo Mora asked.
"Yes, he is," Hawk answered calmly.
"Why are they not marked?" He looked intently at Hawk then at me.
"I am a griffin by birth, I cannot mark her till my second task is complete," I answered his question which caused all eyes to snap at me.
"Griffin's are a rare thing. How do we know you are not lying?" Emiliano shot back?
I did a partial shift for them. They shrank back. Jewel just looked at me in awe. I let one of my fingers slip along the contour of her jaw. "I cannot until the task is complete. After that, I will happily mark her as mine." The growl in my throat was there more out of want than a warning. The men took it as a warning and ran. Hawk and Athens followed them out.
"Why would such a beautiful being as you want to claim me." Jewel stood shaking her head.
"Because you are just as beautiful." You bet your ass, I grabbed both sides of her face to kiss that beautiful mouth of hers. Having tasted her lips I was finding it harder and harder to stop myself. She again met my passion with her own. When we broke the kiss panting, Gael stood in the doorway with another man. He was tall, dark hair long enough to cover his ears, and a pale tanned looking skin with eyes as dark as Gael's.
"This is my half-brother Ivan." Gael finished stepping in the room.
