Jewel's POV
It had been two days since my date with Tau. I couldn't get the date or him out of my head. It was like he had taken up residence. Everything I thought about I wanted his opinion on. It was insane. We were currently finishing morning training. Athens had already left to go to mom's place. I was still sparring with Pinky at the sword.
"Wait!" She shouted, her eyes glowing bright pink. "Tau!" She spun to stare straight at him.
"Everyone get ready!" He roared. I could hear his animal in his voice.
Isaiah and Bianca, along with my brother stood in front of me. Mike, Logan, Tiffany, and Lory are behind me. Elder Braun, I noticed took front and center with Pinky.
The smell of sulfur and fire licked the air. Our wolf noses noticed it immediately. Dragons and a lot of them. I watched several shades of browns and green dragons descend from the sky above. They circled above us, their mouths agape as the intense glow of their fire or element lay within the tooth-filled maws. They almost resembled great white sharks in their approach.
"Which one of you is the daughter of Alisandra?" The large dark brown dragon flew just above us. His wings bopped some of our guys across the head.
"Pinky, you don't have to.." I heard Elder Braun plead.
"Oh but I do.." She growled. I watched her skin shimmer like Tvso's had when he changed to his dragon. It was slow as the pale pink scales with darker pink edges began to pop up as Pinky's form shifted with old magic to her birthright. I had never seen her in dragon form. I don't think even she had been in dragon form. She had always said she was low born and could not change. I could see Elder Braun knew she was higher than she said. I was not sure why she kept the secret but, I would ask her later.
Once Pinky had transformed, I stood in awe of her slender regal beauty. Her varying shades of pinks on a palette of white were breathtaking. As she took a graceful step forward, she stood before the hovering dragons. "Land!" She shouted.
I watched with wonder as all the dragons who showed landed, against their will. They growled and released bits of their magic to disobey. All of their claws were out, digging and grinding into the dirt.
"How can you control us?!" Their leader the dark brown one snarled. You could see his teeth in his scowl.
"My mother was Alisandra, my father the love of her life. A warrior-class dragon." Pinky waved a claw as if it was common knowledge.
"Why did we not know about you?" He snarled more.
"Because my mother knew she would be killed. She knew the ranks of elder dragons would go bad. I was raised in Lyica by the original wolf changers. Once I was old enough I was put in charge of the tournament of the wolf. I was told to pretend low born status until it was time. I think now is the time." Pinky opened her mouth, a mix of red, white, and pink rotated inside.
"You can't possibly think you can kill all nine of us?" The brown dragon scoffed.
Pinky tapped a clawed finger to her razor-sharp mouth. "See, here is the thing, I don't need to worry about that." She giggled. She pointed at our team from the ranch, "you have to understand if I can hide in plain sight, so can many other things." The mirth in her voice was making the other dragon's anger rise.
"You honestly think the wolves will be strong enough?" The dark brown one snapped out. His jaws clicking with each snap.
"You all thought I was a wolf, then thought I was low born." She sighed shaking her wings out. "You honestly think your a great one to judge anything?" She turned, her eyes taking on an intense glow, as she opened her mouth and a series of bright dark pink orbs flew from her mouth creating massive amounts of bubble gum-like substances that coated each of the nine dragons. They could not move nor could they leave the ground.
"Tau," Pinky chirped. She looked at the man before me. I watched as he morphed into the griffin I had only partially seen. Each of the dragons reacted slightly differently but all I noticed had fear in their eyes.
I watched as Tau shook out his feathers and fur. Stretched his scaled front legs. Glancing back at me I noticed his eyes, the ones I got lost in were still the mix of blue and green I seemed out. They had a golden rim around them now accenting their uniqueness. His eyes turned from me, He bowed his hawk-like head to Pinky as he stood just before her. "I assume you didn't think I was here anymore?" Tau chuckled, as he slowly eyed each of the dragons as he walked the row of them.
"Tvso will kill you." Seethed the dark brown dragon.
"Perhaps," Tau shrugged his creature's form.
"He will avenge us!" shouted another.
Tau rock back on his haunches, thrusting his head forward his beak landed into the skull of the first dragon. This he went down the line, each dragon falling dead with the impact to the head.
"The other dragons will be stronger than both of you. They have royal blood and Tvso is the most powerful. His father a star dragon." The dark brown dragon hissed.
"Conin killed that one, I will kill Tvso. If not because he is evil, but for what he did to Jewel." Tau turned to look at me just as the dark brown dragon lunged against the bubble gum substance holding him.
I leaped, Akasa was forward so fast I didn't feel the change. My teeth wrapped quickly around his neck as I felt my fangs bury into his neck. My jaws continued to close as I heard cracking. My nails digging into the scales as I found leverage.
Crack!
The smoke smell waned and the sound of dragons was no longer roaring in our ears. I opened my eyes to taste the hot metal tang of dragons blood in my mouth. Pulling my fangs from the dragon's neck I lifted my head realizing my teeth felt heavier. I felt bigger.
"Akasa it is good to see you again." Pinky bowed low.
Akasa leaped from the dead dragon, to the ground. I felt bigger, more powerful. I shook my fur and realized I was indeed taller. "What happened?" I looked at Pinky.
"Your ancient wolf spirit clicked your dragon's gene. Plus you are to be Queen your wolf will be more powerful then any other in the kingdom." Pinky in her human form grinned back at me.
