Jewel's POV
Pinky had just told me About the dragon gene being clicked. She explained that was why Akasa my wolf had changed. Our fAngs were like sabers, my body heavier with more mass. I was the size of an ancient dire wolf. Though my fangs grew in size like that of a saber-toothed cat.
"Akasa, is an ancient spirit her powers only come to those who can wield it. Your dragon blood has nicked well with her spirit. Aiding her powers to help you." Pinky grinned.
I stood before her human again, as I was tossed some clothes. "I wish I could be like mom and not lose my clothes," I grumbled as I threw on a baggy shirt and shorts.
"Reina is your mom's wolf. The Queen cannot be named in front of her subjects which include all wolves." Pinky winked with a smirk. She still had her clothes after her change back from her dragon form.
"Still would like the clothes thing," I muttered.
"Jewel!!!!" I heard Rachel's voice coming from the side door of the castle. Rachel had been doing private training sessions with me or Pinky until she felt comfortable with training outside with the others. She had not been allowed to train like Lory so, her self-esteem was needing to be bulked up. She also needed time to finish healing from what her human husband had done. Rachel wanted to immerse herself in
Southern Wolf law.
I looked up to see her paused as she gazed stunned at the dead dragons in a row. I walked to her, before I could get close to her Isaiah bolted from his spot to stand before her. I was hurrying to get there too when I saw her wide eyes and her nose flare. Isaiah was stiff. I slowed up to noticed they both looked intently at one another.
"Mate" Isaiah's deep voice rumbled.
"Mmmaaate," Rachel stuttered some. Her brown eyes were wide and disbelief shining in them. Her eyes darted to me. She walked around him, a hint of fear and worry in her eyes. "I. I came out to tell you I found the loophole in the marriage if you wished." Rachel's eyes darted back to the massive blue-eyed man, as he watched her intently.
"You can explain when we get to the library." I smiled, looking back to Isaiah, I saw he was disturbed that she had paid him little regard. I understood why, she didn't think she deserved the massive Viking-looking half-wolf half-dragon hottie. "Isaiah can you escort Rachel to the library and wait there with her for me to return." I looked up at him to see his intense stare soften as his lips tilted up just a bit.
"Of course my Queen," Isaiah bowed low. The faint grin on his lips that my words made him happy. I knew Rachel had a hard time believing in herself from the bullying and the treatment she got from her human husband. I knew she deserved way more than what she let herself think. Isaiah was what she needed. No one would challenge him. He could give her the safety she craved. He would dote on her like she was the only treasure in the world.
I watched them walk away. Isaiah lightly touching the small of her back leading her back to the castle. "Mates?" Pinky asked near me.
"Sure sounded like it." I looked over at her with a grin.
"That is a helluva ego boost with that big snack." Pinky snickered, glancing up to see if Elder Braun had heard her.
"Indeed," I grinned. "One hell of an ego boost there for sure." My eyes found Tau walking back shirtless, in a pair of spare shorts. My mouth watered looking at him. He was ripped with corded muscle, his skin smooth to look at. The only time I got to see him shirtless was on the field, my fingers itched to dance across his skin and feel it.
"Rachel ok?" Tau got closer to ask. The purr in his voice vibrating my insides.
"She said she may have found a loophole in the marriage thing." I wanted to marry Tau but if he wasn't my mate I didn't want his bond with me if he had someone waiting for him.
"I have no worries about marrying you," He continued to purr near my ear. It made my insides turn to massive butterflies. Each one inside me causing massive amounts of chaos inside me.
"I don't want you to marry me then find your mate and not be with her," I grumbled quietly next to him as we had our private little sidebar moment.
"I care for you too much to think that I wouldn't help you any way I can." His hands found the sides of my face as he leaned down hovering just above my lips. "You are starting to sound like Elder Braun." He grouched quietly before his lips found mine. Telling me he just didn't give a damn about who his mate was. That I was the most important thing on this planet to him. To say the words flew from my brain was more like teleported to another dimension.
Coming back, to the reality of Tau kissing me and him reminding me how much he cared. Made my heart burst more. I loved this man with every fiber of my being. I didn't know what it was like for a "mate," as I never experienced it like others. We had just killed a massive chunk of dragons. pinky had told me she had killed the other three using the blood, Tau had offered her on their swords. I had never known that had happened. Tau too was in shock about it.
"Let's go to the library and see what Rachel has found." Tau's voice dragged me out of my head.
"Yes, I hope Isaiah is behaving." I sighed. I was not sure how he would react. I knew Rachel would be distant but, Isaiah I wasn't sure would strong-arm her into something she wasn't ready for. Crap, I needed to stay out of my head. The words in there could turn so fast to negative it wasn't funny.
