Just as Lucas was almost in despair, Erin's fingers moved slightly.
"Erin!" Lucas shouted excitedly, surprise in his voice.
Erin slowly opened her eyes, her eyes confused and empty. She looked at the strange and concerned man in front of her, her mind in a daze.
"Who am ...... I? Where is this?" Erin asked weakly, her voice hoarse.
Lucas's heart stung as he fought back tears, "You're Erin, I'm Lucas, you've been in an accident, but don't be afraid, I'll take care of you."
Erin's eyes were still confused, she tried to remember but only felt a headache.
"I don't remember anything ......" her voice held a hint of helplessness and fear.
Lucas gently stroked her hair and soothed her, "It's okay, it'll get better. I'll always be there for you."
Erin looked at Lucas with a flash of dependence in her eyes.
Lucas said gently, "Are you hungry? I'll have someone prepare some food for you."
Erin nodded slightly, and Lucas hurriedly ordered it down.
Not long after, the food was delivered, and Lucas carefully fed it to Erin.
"Here, eat slowly." Lucas' voice was incredibly gentle.
Erin took a few bites and closed her eyes again tiredly.
Lucas looked at her and prayed silently in his heart, "Erin, be sure to get better soon."
Lucas sat on the edge of the bed, his deep gaze filled with concern and tenderness as if he could wrap Erin in endless warmth.
"Erin, how are you feeling?" Lucas asked softly, his voice filled with caution for fear of disturbing her peace. His eyes were locked onto Erin's face, not wanting to miss a single change.
Erin lifted her head slightly, that originally pale face now gradually had a hint of blood color. She looked at Lucas, the corner of her mouth barely squeezing out a smile, like a flower trying to bloom in the cold wind. "I'm much better, thank you, Lucas." Her voice was still weak, but it carried a hint of determination, as if declaring to fate that she would not be easily defeated.
Lucas gently took Erin's hand in his, the hands conveying warmth and comfort. "I'm really happy to see you getting better day by day." His eyes shone with relief, and that light was like the brightest star in the night sky, illuminating the dark corners of Erin's heart.
A trace of doubt flashed in Erin's eyes, and that doubt was like a mist that gently enveloped her eyes. "But I still can't remember who I am, my past is a blank." There was a hint of confusion and helplessness in her voice as if she was a lone boat lost in a vast ocean.
Lucas tightened his grip on her hand slightly as if trying to give her strength through the gesture. "Don't worry, maybe time will slowly bring back your memories. I'll stay with you until you remember everything." His voice was gentle but firm, making it impossible to doubt his determination.
Days passed slowly like running water, and Irene's body gradually recovered under Lucas' careful care. Every morning, Lucas would come to the ward early, carrying fresh fruit from the market. He would carefully peel the fruit for Irene, cut it into small pieces, and hand it to her piece by piece with a toothpick.
"Here, Erin, eat some fruit and get some vitamins, it'll be good for your recovery," Lucas said with a smile, his eyes full of pampering.
Erin took the fruit and gently bit into it, the sweet juice spreading in her mouth. "Thank you, Lucas, you're always so attentive." A grateful smile spread across her face.
In addition to the fruit, Lucas would bring Erin delicious food. Sometimes it was a steaming bowl of chicken soup, sometimes a delicate pastry. He always sat on the edge of the bed, watching Erin slowly savor it with anticipation in his eyes.
"How does it taste? Is it to your liking?" Lucas asked with concern.
Erin nodded a happy glint in her eyes. "It's delicious, Lucas, I feel like I'm being spoilt by you."
During the days when Erin's body was gradually recovering, Lucas would also chat with her and tell her about the outside world.
"Erin, you know what? The park outside is now full of all kinds of flowers, red, pink, purple, and beautiful. When you get better, I'll take you to see them." Lucas's voice was full of yearning.
Erin leaned back on her pillow, entranced. "Really? That must be beautiful."
"And the sandy beach on the ocean, with the sun pouring down, golden. The waves lapping against the shore, making a crisp sound." Lucas continued, his description making Erin feel as if she were there.
However, Lucas' heart was always filled with worry. He knew that Erin couldn't be allowed to stay in the hospital all the time. On the one hand, the hospital environment was not the most favorable for her recovery; on the other hand, he feared that hostile forces would discover Erin's whereabouts and bring new dangers to her. After much deliberation, Lucas decided to take Erin back to the werewolf tribe.
On this day, the sun was exceptionally bright, and the golden light shone through the window, showering the ground with patches of light. Lucas sat on the edge of the bed, holding Erin's hand, looking slightly grave: "Erin, I've been thinking, the hospital may not be the most suitable place for you to continue recuperating."
Erin looked at him in disbelief, "Why do you say that?" Her eyes were filled with doubt and unease.
Lucas frowned slightly, worry in his gaze, "On the one hand, the atmosphere of the hospital is too cold and not conducive to the recovery of your mind. It's full of sickness and sorrow, and I'm worried that it will affect your mood. On the other hand, I'm worried that those secret enemies will find their way here and threaten your safety. As you know, our world is not as peaceful as it appears."
A trace of panic flashed in Erin's eyes, "Enemies? What about that? I don't remember anything, how will I face them?" Her voice trembled and her hands clutched the sheets.
Lucas took a deep breath as if he had made up his mind, "I want to take you back to my tribe, where my people can protect you better. There you will feel warm and safe, and perhaps regain your memories faster."
Erin frowned, a twinge of unease welling up in her heart. "Where? I've never heard of any tribe."
Lucas took Erin's hand in his, his gaze firm and tender. "My tribe, a tribe of werewolves. We have great strength and close unity, and we will be able to protect you."
Erin's eyes widened with disbelief as if she had heard a heavenly story. "A werewolf tribe? This is too unbelievable! I don't believe it, how is this possible?" Her voice was filled with surprise and fear.
Lucas gently patted her hand, trying to calm her down. "Don't be afraid, the people there are friendly and I'll always be by your side to protect you. I swear I won't let anyone hurt you." His voice was soft and firm as if he was making an eternal promise.
Erin lowered her head and thought for a moment. Her heart was filled with conflict and fear, not knowing whether to trust Lucas or not, not knowing whether to follow him to a completely strange place. However, deep down, she had an inexplicable trust and dependence on Lucas.
"I don't know, I don't remember anything, I don't know if I can fit in there." Erin looked up, tears glistening in her eyes, which shimmered in the sunlight like broken crystals.
"Erin, trust me." Lucas gently stroked her hair, the gesture full of love. "Don't worry, I'll always be by your side, protecting you and taking care of you. The scenery there is beautiful, with clear streams, dense forests, and vast grasslands. You'll love it there."
Ayrin was silent for a moment before she finally nodded. The moment she nodded, Lucas's face blossomed into a wide smile that was like sunlight piercing through dark clouds and illuminating the entire ward.
With the decision made, Lucas began to prepare for their trip. He picked out soft, comfortable clothes for Erin, each one carefully chosen by him, with colors and styles to Erin's liking in mind. He also prepared enough food and medicine to ensure that they wouldn't be inconvenienced in any way on the road.
"Erin, how about this pale pink dress? I think it suits you." Lucas held a dress in front of Erin and gestured at it.
Erin looked at the dress and smiled, "It's beautiful, Lucas, you have a great eye."
Lucas also had a picture book for her with drawings of the tribe's landscapes and people's lives, hopefully giving her some advanced knowledge of the tribe.
"Erin, look, this is our tribe's house, it's all built with wood and stone, it's strong and warm." Lucas pointed to the pictures in the picture book and patiently introduced them to Erin.
"And this, this is our tribe's festival, where we all dance and sing together to celebrate the harvest and reunion." Lucas' eyes were filled with love and longing for his tribe.
Erin listened quietly, looking at the pictures in the album, the fear in her heart was gradually replaced by curiosity.
The day of departure was sunny and breezy. Irene was wearing a light blue dress, looking particularly fresh and attractive. Lucas carried his luggage, holding Irene's hand, and walked out of the door of the hospital.
Along the way, Erin was silent, just quietly looking out the window, her heart filled with fear and anticipation of the unknown. Lucas looked at Erin every now and then, trying to find something to talk about to ease her nerves.
"Erin, when you get to the tribe, you're going to love it there," Lucas said, his voice filled with anticipation and hope.
Erin let out a soft 'hmm' and didn't say anything more. Her gaze remained fixed on the window, and the ever-changing landscape seemed to be a reflection of her inner thoughts.
Lucas continued, "There's beautiful scenery and kind people. We'd go to the mountains together to watch the sunrise, fish in the river together, and look at the stars at night together."
Erin turned her head to Lucas with a hint of doubt in her eyes. "Really?"
Lucas nodded sincerity in his eyes. "Of course, I wouldn't lie to you. Besides, there are a lot of fun activities in the tribe, like bonfires where everyone sits around and shares stories and food."
The car traveled along the winding mountain road, the trees on both sides were lush as if forming a green barrier. Erin's mood became more and more nervous as the journey progressed.
"Lucas, I'm really scared." Erin's voice trembled as her hands clutched the corners of her coat.
Lucas reached out and took Erin's hand in his. "Don't be afraid, Erin, I'll always be there for you. It won't be long now, and when you get there, you'll realize that nothing is so terrible." His voice was firm, giving Erin a glimmer of courage.
