CHAPTER Four

1453 Words
On this day, Oliver arrived at Irene's residence. Dressed in a neat uniform, he bowed slightly and said, "Miss Irene, I am Oliver, who once served your grandfather." Irene looked at him curiously, anticipation in her eyes. "Oliver, can you tell me about Grandfather?" A look of reminiscence appeared on Oliver's face as if his thoughts had traveled back in time for a moment. "Your grandfather was a very kind and wise man. He always cared for every member of his family, giving everyone strength and support in both hard times and joyous moments. I remember once, the tribe was hit by a severe drought and there was a shortage of food, it was your grandfather who led everyone to find new water sources and plant drought-resistant crops, and eventually got through it." Irene listened quietly, as if her grandfather's firm but kind figure floated before her eyes, a warmth welling up in her heart. "And what does Grandfather like to do in his spare time?" Oliver smiled and said, "Your grandfather liked to sit in a rocking chair by the door in the evening, watching the sunset and telling the children old stories. He had a low, magnetic voice that always mesmerized everyone." As Oliver recounted the story, Erin's image of her grandfather became clearer and clearer, as if she had created an invisible bond with this unseen relative. It wasn't long before Amelia and Leah came forward to visit as well. "Erin, we can finally meet you!" Amelia enthusiastically took Ayrin's hand as soon as she entered, her face beaming with a bright smile as warm as the sun. Leah smiled from the side, her smile gentle and serene, "We couldn't wait to come and see you when we heard you were here." Erin smiled a little shyly, "Thank you for coming." Amelia said excitedly, "We'll be good friends from now on, if there's anything you don't understand, just ask us." As she said that, she took out an exquisite basket from behind her back, which was filled with small gifts specialized in the tribe, including hand-woven bracelets and scented pouches made from flowers. "Wow, these gifts are so beautiful!" Erin marveled. Leah also took out a bouquet of freshly picked wildflowers and handed it to Erin, "This is for you, I hope it adds some color to your room." Erin took the gift, her heart filled with emotion, "Thank you, these gifts are so thoughtful." "Erin, did you know? On the night of the full moon, we will gather around the campfire and sing, it is said that this will get the blessing of the Moon Goddess." Amelia said mysteriously. Leah went on to say, "And also and also, every spring, we hold a sowing ceremony to pray for good weather and a good harvest." In the days that followed, Amelia and Leah often came to see Erin to play together. One sunny morning, they met at the stream. The stream was gurgling, and the sunlight sprinkled on the water's surface, sparkling as if it were a flowing golden ribbon. "Erin, look at the beautiful flowers over here." Amelia cheerfully picked them, dancing like a lively butterfly among the flowers. Leah, on the other hand, carefully picked the right flower branches with concentration in her eyes. "We can make a beautiful bouquet with these flowers." Erin smiled as she joined them, feeling the simple joy. "These flowers are so pretty, let's pick more." As they picked flowers, they shared interesting facts about each other. "I saw a little rabbit yesterday that ran fast," Amelia said with a smile. "I recently learned a new way of knitting, I'll teach you guys later," Leah said. Erin also shared her feelings about being in the tribe, "I'm liking it more and more here, everyone is so friendly." They laughed as they wove wreaths in the shade. "Erin, you put this flower here, it will look better," Amelia instructed. Leah, on the other hand, knitted quietly, occasionally looking up to give them an encouraging smile. Erin gradually got the hang of it with their help and wove a beautiful wreath. "Wow, Erin, you did a fantastic job!" Amelia cheered. Leah also nodded her head in praise, "It's really pretty." The girls played together by the stream for a while longer, until the sun dipped in the west. At one point, the tribe had a big party. "Erin, come on, let's dance together!" Amelia pulled Erin into the crowd. Erin was a little hesitant, "I'm not much of a dancer." Leah smiled and encouraged her, "That's okay, just follow everyone's rhythm." The music started and people danced happily. Amelia and Leah took Erin and taught her the dance steps by hand. "Left foot, right foot, turn around ......" Erin was a little nervous at first, never able to keep up with the rhythm, but with the encouragement of her friends, she gradually relaxed. "Yes, that's it Erin, you're doing great!" Amelia exclaimed. Lucas watched the laughing Erin from a distance, his heart filled with relief. His gaze remained on Erin as if she was the only thing in the entire world. At this moment, someone came over to greet Lucas, "Chief, it's wonderful to see Erin so happy." Lucas smiled and responded, "Yeah, she's slowly adjusting to life here." Amidst the music and laughter, Erin completely let herself go and blended into the upbeat atmosphere. Her face was beaming with happiness, like the brightest star in the night sky. Suddenly, the music stopped and everyone formed a circle and started playing a game. "Erin, come play with us!" Amelia pulled Erin to join. During the game, Erin laughed and frolicked with everyone. After the party ended, people dispersed one by one. "Today was so much fun!" Erin said. Amelia and Leah smiled and nodded as well, "Yeah, there will be more fun times like this in the future." Lucas walked over and handed Erin a glass of water, "Tired, have some water." Erin took the glass of water and took a sip, "Thank you, Lucas." Lucas smiled, "It makes me happy to see you so happy." One day the girls went to play by the stream together again. The sun was shining on the water and it was sparkling. "Erin, look at the beautiful flowers over here." Amelia picked them cheerfully. Leah, on the other hand, carefully picked the right branches of flowers. "We can make a beautiful bouquet with these flowers." Erin smiled and joined them, feeling the simple joy as they wove garlands together in the shade. The girls brought endless joy and warmth to Erin. Driven by them, Erin gradually let go and got into the cheerful atmosphere. "Look, there's a bird's nest in that tree," Erin said, pointing, her face full of surprise. Amelia winked, "Maybe there are baby birds inside." Just then, the sky suddenly darkened and it looked like it was about to rain. "Not good, we have to hurry back," Leah said. The three of them quickened their pace and walked back, but the rain still fell. Lucas saw the change in the weather and rushed out to look for them. "Erin!" Lucas' voice came through the rain, full of anxiety. Seeing Lucas' figure warmed Erin's heart. "We're here!" Amelia shouted. Lucas led them back to their lodgings, where Erin's clothes were soaked through. "Go change your clothes, don't catch a cold," Lucas said with concern, and worry in his eyes. Erin nodded and walked out after changing her clothes to see Lucas preparing hot soup for them. "Here, have some soup to warm you up." Lucas handed them the soup with a gentle gaze. Everyone sat around and drank the soup, laughter echoing through the house. With everyone's help, Erin gradually adapted to her new life in the tribe. Erin and Lucas sat on the hillside of the tribe and looked up at the stars. "Lucas, I appreciate you bringing me here," Erin said softly, her voice filled with gratitude. Lucas took her hand and looked at her fondly. "Erin, this is your home, and I will always watch over you." Erin lowered her head slightly, a blush spreading across her face. "Lucas, I feel like I can't get away from here, from you more and more." Lucas took Erin gently into his arms. "Me too Erin, I wish I could give you eternal happiness."
