GAMBLE: Rule of Cards

RAINBOW CARDS

“Rainbow Cards?” Denton asked himself as he was placed to one of the seats on the table. Little later, one woman who they believe was the dealer entered the room using the door they did not use to enter with. It was a door from another side of the room where it is only exclusive to workers of the game, just like the dealer who came from it. “Where do they get these dealers of them?” Denton asked himself as he looked at the dealer positioning on her chair, shuffling the card, not minding the two candidates of winning at all.

“Please sit down,” the dealer muttered. At this point of the game, the dealer makes the rule and she speaks her own heart as well. The speaker vanished from the screen, as he let the dealer do her job. “The mechanics is easy but I will repeat. No overlapping of cards with my cards means you made rainbow cards. Whoever gets the higher total amount for every round wins that round. Whoever wins three rounds out of five rounds will get to be hailed as the last man standing or the winner of the game.” She placed the card inside the card releaser, a machine which releases the card randomly. “Let us start with the first round of the game.”

The machine releases another card after one of the cards was gotten by the dealer itself. The dealer will give herself and the players cards alternatively. As soon as the two players get three cards and she gets four cards, the game will start with the two players revealing their cards first before she reveals the cards of the dealer. “There you go,” the dealer mumbled as she completed giving out the cards for all of them. “Should we start revealing the cards with you, Player M-22?”

Denton placed his hand on the table where the cards are on as well. He slowly unveiled the cards using his hand. “Three, Nine and Six,” the dealer muttered. The dealer looked at Hector who was carefully peeking at his cards. “Now, it is your turn to unravel your cards, mister,” she told Hector who was ready to unveil his own cards. He did it excitedly and was merely looking at Denton’s expression. It was fair that he was excited about it since he got... “Seven, Eight, Nine.” The dealer looked at her cards as she slowly unraveled each of it. “Four...” she muttered. She continued doing it. “One,” she said. The last two cards of her are also unraveled. “Seven and Nine.”

Hector’s mouth gaped open. “What?”

“This is why you should not celebrate in advance, mister,” the dealer mumbled as she was looking at the monitor. “Player P-04 got eight points, since his two cards are cancelled as I also have those two cards. Player M-22 got eighteen points for this round.” She gathered all the used cards and placed it on the card bin. “In the first round of the game, Player M-22 won.”

Hector just looked at Denton like it was Denton’s fault that he lost the game. Denton did not give a damn but continued on playing the game. The second round started when the dealer started on giving out the cards to both the players and her as well. “You can now check your cards,” the dealer mumbled, as she gave the two of them time to check their own cards. Denton took his time in checking his own cards.

Denton nodded. “As I do not know what cards the dealer has, I have no choice but to give these cards a try,” he mumbled to himself. “The value of the cards only value in the total amount after cancelling the cards that was owned by the dealer. Just like what happened in the first round, even though one has three higher pointer cards, if they were all cancelled by the cards the dealer owns, there is still no assurance that one will win.” He paused for a moment. “I just need to stay in this momentum until I win this match. I have to do this for my kids who are waiting for me from the outside world.”

“What are you mumbling about, Denton?” Hector asked all of a sudden. The dealer was just looking at what happens between the two of the last men standing. “Are you shocked to see how low your cards are? Are you going to cry now?”

“Are you done now?” the dealer suddenly asked the two last players. The two players immediately looked at the dealer who suddenly talked. “If you are done now, please reveal your cards already,” she continued. The two players revealed their cards to each other and to the dealer. Their cards were revealed. Denton’s card was consisted of a five, three and six, while Hector’s card was an eight and two nines. “I will now slowly show my cards...” As the dealer slowly revealed her own cards, the two of them looked at the cards with so much awareness, scared that their cards will be cancelled. “My cards are one, two and nine. This means that Player P-04’s two nine cards will be cancelled, which will leave him eight points only. Player M-22, on the other hand, has fourteen cards. Player M-22 holds the second victory of this round.”

Denton looked at Hector who was pissed at what he was expecting has not yet to happen. Hector wanted to end the game, so soon that he actually wanted to finish the game in just three rounds but the opposite actually happened and that, Denton won the two rounds unfortunately. “Look who is winning, Hector?” Denton muttered in such a low voice, but the dealer could actually hear what the hell he is talking about. “I just have to win the third round and this game will end so soon. For once, I should be assured that the game is going too well with how I wanted it to be.”

The dealer cleared her throat, afraid that Denton will jinx his own luck. “I said that one must not celebrate first, it might jinx your luck,” she said and cleared her throat once more. “As the second round ended with Player M-22’s victory, this will mean that if the same player wins the third round of the last main match, the game will conclude with the score of three to zero. Again, we are wishing the both of you your best lucks. Player J-04 could possibly take the victory if he wins the three rounds consecutively.”

“Do you think I’d let this loser win against me?” childish Hector told the dealer who thinks his statement was absurd and unnecessary. Hector, otherwise, looked at Denton who was just secretly smiling against the two of the other people on the table. “You must wait for my revenge. I’ll surely ace the last remaining rounds. You just watch it. I will be sure that between us two, you will get your head shot and not me. Don’t be so proud of yourself yet, as it has not yet done.”

The dealer continued the game after she gave Denton, Hector and herself the respective cards that they will use for the third round. “You can now check your cards for a couple of minutes,” the dealer mumbled as the two players tried to check their cards without any of them seeing each other’s cards. “Once done, you can now show your cards to each other and to me. Also, if you have the swap card, be sure to give me before you reveal your cards.” Denton and Hector revealed their cards which included a three, four and one for Denton and a five, one and eight for Hector. “I will now reveal my cards slowly and simultaneously.”

The dealer did as what she said. She revealed her first card which was a nine. She continued on the second card which was a two. For her fourth and fifth card, it was a one and a four, which to no avail, was against Denton and it made him lose his two cards after the cancelation of cards. “Yes!” Hector exclaimed like he just won the lotto. “I am telling you, Denton. I will for sure win this game and see with my naked eye how you will be slain today.”

“Hmm,” the dealer mumbled as she collected all the cards and placed it on the card bin. “I will now start giving out the cards for the fourth round. The process went smooth as the dealer already knows what she is doing. After she has given the two their cards, “you may now check your cards.” The two of them did what the dealer told them and revealed their cards after. After they revealed their cards, the dealer also revealed her cards and immediately revealed the fourth round victor. “The winner of the fourth round is Player J-04. Since the play is two to two, we will now play the last round. In this game, no one has yet to pull a rainbow card.”
