“I don’t know, Anika. Your friend doesn't seem all too friendly.” Malakai said, with a nervous smile.
“He’s only friends with me.” Anika said with a humourless smile. “Shall we proceed with our meeting?”
Malakai adjusted his suit jacket uncomfortably but nodded in agreement. I stood back, a shadow with nothing but eyes and ears.
“I spoke to my superiors. They have some issues with the… project.” Malakai said with a suspicious look at me. I wished I could say I wasn’t concerned with whatever they were discussing but I had an odd feeling about this whole thing, especially since it involved Anika. She wanted me to be around her constantly? I would use that to my advantage.
“And what issues would those be?” Anika asked, digging into her seared salmon.
