I thought I knew how to handle unbridled pain. I knew how to face unbound fear that holds the capacity of paralysing someone to the extent of inaction.
But the moment Xavier's body began to crash and his vitals started falling at lightening speed, I knew that I could not handle that.
One moment I was sitting by his bedside, holding his hand in my own while Adrian sat in my lap and the next moment the doctors and nurses were pushing us away as his body began to crash and he was leaving us.
My breathing had fastened and I had all but fallen to my knees praying for Xavier's safe return to health.
