Seeing the forlorn and confused expression on Sage's face was pure torture and even more so when she tugs at Adrian's shoulder and pulls him closer to herself like she's scared that the cold of my voice and tone is somehow going to burn him.
It is sad to think that just two weeks ago, I was so excited to start a new life with Sage and Adrian and now, here I am, distancing myself from them.
But it's better that she thinks that she needs to stay away from me rather than her getting hurt because of her closeness to me.
There is no way that I would be able to handle that. Not with her and Adrian.
