Chapter 1
BE MY MISTRESS
From her side on the round table, Selena watched as her friend talked and laughed loudly.
“Really?” Selena questioned with wide eyes.
"Yes babe, I hope you get the job, the pay is damn good, I'm certain you'll make a lot working as his secretary." Linda smiled.
"Oh my God Linda, this is good news, when is the interview?."
"Tomorrow, 9 am sharp, and you can't afford to be late. I also heard the CEO will be conducting the interview himself and from what I heard he is pretty cold, strict and ruthless too," Linda said.
"Does it even matter, I'll be sure no to get on his bad side if I get the job, I just want to work in peace, earn enough to take care of my needs, I don't want any trouble."
"Ha!" Linda scoffed.
"You should hear what people say about him, working in peace and harmony will be impossible," Linda continued to blab on. Selena frowned.
"Come on Linda, enough now, it's no use listening to what people say, sometimes, these things turn out to be false, and besides, we can't judge the man without getting to know him first," Selena said. Linda smiled.
"Look at you, acting all goody." Linda teased.
"Stop it, Linda; I'm just stating the fact here."
"Alright alright, whatever you say, just make sure to go there early and please Selena, dress well."
"Shut up." Selena laughed.
"It's not like I'll go there dressed as a beggar, but I'm worried about something," Selena frowned.
"What's that?"
"Do you think I’m qualified for the job? You know that I have incomplete credentials because I only completed high school.”
"Let's be positive here okay, say no to negative thoughts, let's be hopeful and pray they'll accept you," Linda said positively.
“You are smart, intelligent, good looking and can handle and solve problems effectively”. Linda continued.
"Okay babe, but what about Nathan, who'll take care of him, you'll have to go to work too."
"I'll take the day off to stay with Nathan tomorrow, you don't have to bother about anything, just be concerned about tomorrow, make sure to do your best, and leave Nathan to me."
"Thank you so much, Linda, you're an angel, I love you so much," Selena said and stood up towards Linda.
“Aww, I love you too baby girl." Linda said as they embraced each other.
.
Selena hugged her tightly while fighting tears when they heard a little voice.
“What of me?” Nathan whined as he stretched out his little hands for a hug too.
Both ladies turned to look at him and when they saw the cute frown on his face, they couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
"Silly boy." Linda smiled, and then she hugged him.
"I'm happy for you Selena, I pray you get the job, then you won't have to be sad anymore," Nathan said while struggling to fight back tears.
His words melt Selena's heart. It was enough motivation to her to make sure she lands that job.
"Nathan." She called as she patted his blonde crispy hair
"I love you so much and I’m always here for you.”
"And I love you too Selena." Nathan smiled, he wrapped his little hands around Selena's neck, then he kissed her cheek.
"Aww, you're just so sweet, if he hadn't been a kid, and if he was just a little bit older, I wouldn't mind dating him and making him mine forever," Linda said, and Selena shot her a glare that was enough to bury her soul.
"Just kidding." Linda huffed.
"Better," Selena replied, and they all laughed.

Next morning...
Selena was done dressing, she stood in front of her mirror to check herself out once more, she had on a simple yellow dress, her long blonde hair was packed in a high ponytail, she had on matching yellow sandals, and she didn't bother to apply any makeup since she was already so beautiful, and she wasn't a fan of makeup anyways.
Just as Linda had said yesterday, she took the day off work to stay with Nathan at the hospital, and Selena couldn't be more grateful for that.
"Let's do this." She said to herself.
She hurriedly grabbed her bag which contains her credentials, then stormed out of the house.
She got outside and boarded a cab to the venue for the interview.
*****
Venue for the interview...
A few minutes later, the cab pulled up in front of one of the biggest companies in New York City .Selena paid the driver, stepped out of the cab but was suddenly overwhelmed, she had doubts about this but she thought of her brother and was determined to get the job. The huge building in front of her was mesmerizing and she couldn’t help but admire it.
"Wow, so beautiful." She muttered to herself.
She checked her wristwatch and saw she's got just 3 minutes left until 9, she hurriedly strolled into the company, met the receptionist at the front desk who greeted her with a beam of smiles on her face. Selena stated her purpose for being there and the receptionist gave her a card number before giving the directions to where the interview was being held.
"Thank you so much," Selena said.
She went to the elevator the receptionist showed her, and then she punched in number 10. She watched the elevator slowly close shut while she silently prayed.
The elevator stopped suddenly, jolting Selena to reality and she realized that she was at the 10th floor, the door opened, and she got out. She was greeted with different faces of drop dead gorgeous ladies and she was aghast as to if they came for the interview or to flash their assets.
She took a sneak peek at her card and realized she was number 6.
"Great, this will be quick." She said and rushed to sit on one of the vacant chairs in the narrow lobby which was as quiet as the graveyard.
She stylishly checked out the other ladies' outfits once more while waiting for her turn and what they had on wasn't decent at all, it was more like they came here to seduce the CEO instead of getting a job.
A lady probably in her early twenties, petite on a red revealing dress ran out of the interview hall wailing and sobbing uncontrollably which attracted the attention of everyone at the lobby. The other ladies shared worried glances at one another when they noticed her puffy eyes from all the weeping, even Selena wasn't left out, she began to feel so nervous and worried as to what might have caused it. Then she heard the door to the interview door close tight, a man stepped out and looked at the paper in his hands.
"Number 6." He called loudly.
"That's me." Selena stood up.
"Alright, it's your turn." He said, then he went in, and Selena went in after him.
The opulent hall was filled with modern artwork and floor to ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of the city below. She sat down quietly on the seat the man who ushered her in offered her, adjusted the hem of her dress while watching the young lad disappear through the other door. Selena took deep breaths while fighting the urge to melt into the ground, the fear that gripped her and uncertainty lingering in her head. She looked up again but no one was there in the interview hall other than her. She only saw a seat across her at the other end of the room which she guessed was meant for the interviewer.
"Where could he have gone to?" She thought, staring around.
The door at the end of the room opened, and a man in a black tux walked in and gracefully to his seat.
The moment he was seated, his gaze shifted to Selena, when their eyes locked, his eyes widen in surprise, all to the confusion of Selena who was wondering why he seems so shocked and surprised to see her.
"Selena!" Zavier gasped, still staring intensely at her.
Selena was beginning to feel very uncomfortable under his intense gaze but she stands her ground refusing to back down despite the tension in the room. She cleared her throat nervously.
"Sir, hope there's no problem." She said, jolting Zavier out of his thoughts.
"What's your name?" He questioned coldly.
"Selena Martinez."
"Selena Martinez," Zavier repeated in a cold tone clearly infuriated with so much bitterness.
"What are you doing here Selena?" He spat and clenched his jaw.
Selena was shocked by this, the way he questioned her felt like he held a huge grudge against her. It felt like he knows her, but that can't be possible, she doesn't even know him, so why is he being so cold and mysterious.
"I asked you a f*****g question." He yelled.
She flinched.
"I'm here to apply for the job," Selena answered immediately with so much fear in her, shivering almost peeing her pants.
"Ha!" Zavier scoffed.
"You want to work as my secretary…." He smirked.
Selena didn't know if that was a question meant for her to answer or a statement.
"Do you really want this job, Selena?" Zavier asked while grinning from ear to ear with his gaze on her tracing every inch of her being, undressing her with his eyes and savoring the sight.
"Yes," Selena answered sharply aware of his intense stare at her body yet trying to stand her ground.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Good," Zavier said with a wicked grin.
"To work as my secretary, there's a condition." He said in a cold menacing voice that sent cold unpleasant shivers down her spine.
His blue eyes held no emotions in them, it looks to her like he despised her, but what could be her offense, it's not like they’ve crossed path in the past.
"W what's the condition, SIRR?" She stuttered and immediately hated herself for that.
She didn't want to give him the impression that she was scared of him, but it was too late. He knew she was afraid of him, who wouldn't be anyways, after all, he's known all over the world as a tycoon who is cold and heartless, many fear him, and she shouldn’t be an exception.
A sly smirk played at the corner of his lips as he said the word she wasn't expecting.
"The condition is to be my mistress."
"Whattttt!"
