Marcus POV
I ran for Mount Maple. It’s been years since the last time I ran in this mountain. The terrain is not complicated it’s just that there’s a lot of booby traps that’s been planted here over the years. I hope that she’s safe. A rejection is painful. It’s so painful that some werewolves killed themselves.
I focused my powers on my senses when I arrived. I searched for scents, voices and heartbeats. I tried to look for tracks but the snow covered it and the ground is too soft to left a print.
“s**t!” I cussed. It’s frustrating knowing that Margaux is just right here yet I can’t see her. “Margaux!” I shouted hoping that she’ll hear it.
I continued on running to the peak of the mountain and that’s when I heard her. She’s still alive. I sigh, relieved that’s she’s fine. I followed her voice and there she is. Standing on the cliff side and screaming.
"Where are you, Marcus?" she screamed.
The snow is falling hard. The wind was strong. She kept shouting my name. She’s sad and it broke my heart. I hate seeing her sad. She doesn’t deserve to be sad. The smile suits her best.
"Marcus." She said my name. Her voice was weak from shouting. "Marcus. You LIAR." That’s the last thing she said and I ran to her before she fell to the ground.
Luckily, I managed to catch her on time. She’s still the same. I moved her hair that’s covering her face. She’s been crying. I hate seeing her cry. I might like the idea that her mate rejected her but I know that s**t must hurt a lot.
“I’m here, Margaux. I’m sorry that I made you believed that your mate will love you. I shouldn’t have.” I whispered and kissed her forehead. “But I’m here now. Don’t worry I’ll love you more than life itself.” A tear managed to escape my eyes. “I’ll take you home, our home.”
I carried her bridal style. I ran until we reached my house. I laid her to our bed and tucked her in. I ran to the bathroom to get a towel and a basin with water. I went back to the bedroom and I cleaned her using the towel. Throughout the run she accumulated quite a number of dirt and debris.
I head to the leaving room and I called her father.
“Hello, Marcus? Did you find her?” Alpha Jack, her father, asked.
“Yes, I did.” I said.
“Thank you. I’ll send my children to get---” I interrupted him before he can finish.
“No!” I said. My voice is covered with possessiveness and command. I cleared my throat and said it again. “No.” This time it’s much more pleasant and gentle. “I’ll take care of her.” I said. Hoping that he wouldn’t push the matter but he did.
“Um--- We wouldn’t want to disturb you any further.”
“You’re not disturbing me. It’s alright, Jack.” I said, giving everything in me not to growl. After all Jack is her father. I dropped the call and made my way to the kitchen. I prepared a meal and a soup for Margaux. The already dusk and dinner is coming. Now, I’m just going to wait for Margaux to wake up.
I head to the bedroom with a portable bed table and her food. I put it on the bedside table. I sat on the bed, beside her. I run my finger on her face to her hair. I kissed her forehead again, reassuring myself that she’s really here beside me.
I stood up before I do something that I will regret. I called Jamie, my friend, asking him to inform the council about my absence for the next couple of days. He said he will just inform me about the plan when it’s done. I thank him and I ended the call.
After a couple of minutes, I heard Margaux shifting. I hurriedly sat beside her and caress her head, saying sweet nothings to her.
“Hey, it’s alright. You’re safe here with me.” I said.
She slowly opened her eyes and blink a few times adjusting her eyes to the light. She groans and she brought her hands to her head massaging it. She seemed to have a headache.
“Where am I?” she groaned will asking me. I helped her sat up.
“Our home.” I said sweetly.
“What?” She said her voice is rough. “Who?”
She jerked her eyes open. It widen when she saw me. “Marcus? How?” She said. The shocked is all over her voice and face.
“I’m back.” I said.
