“That’s it,” she said. Crossing her arms, she looked up at him. His face had gone impassive again, revealing very little. “So why did you come down here?”
The words sounded accusatory almost as soon as they left her mouth, and Amber had to keep herself from wincing. However, Idris didn’t seem offended, but only said, “I came here to see if the changes I made in the house would work for you, and also to see if you would come up and share dinner with me. The food you had at lunch seemed to help, so I thought perhaps something a little more substantial for the evening meal would be in order.”
He wanted to have dinner with her. Then again, she supposed it would have seemed strange for the two of them to be sharing this enormous property and yet avoid each other as much as possible. Besides,
