I thought I was coming with them but they ended up leaving me in the Haven with Blue. Jared decided not to take me as he claimed that I still know nothing about fighting and my powers are still unknown. He had a point of course. But even as I argued about the fact that it was my mom they are going to save and I needed to be there, Jared said I'd bring more harm than I already did. That made me retreat into a nod and just let them handle the situation. I don't want to be the reason why my mom would die. And so I stayed with Blue.
"Don't worry, they'll get your mom. Sit down and calm down." Blue pushed a chair towards my direction. It had been two hours since Hannah, Elle and Jared left the Haven and we were both left with nothing but ourselves and my silent hoping that they'd get my mom to the Haven safe and alive.
"Pete, chill out," Blue said again, prompting me to sit down in front of him in the circular table where they had interrogated me the other day. "Jared and the girls have done many times before. It'll be fine."
I tried to calm down and just faced him. I really need to calm down. My jittering and panic won't do me any good or to the people rescuing my mom. Maybe leaving me behind was a good choice after all.
"You know, I used to think you're a brave person but it turns out you're a soft one beneath that shirt" Blue said and grinned at me.
I lifted my brow up. "What are you talking about?"
"Well, we've been watching you for months in your little village," he started. "We we're just looking for the right opportunity to get you into the Haven. We can't just pluck you out of your home and tell you you're a half vampire right ? But still, it turned out you still got plucked somewhere."
"Y-you've been watching me?" I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing. Maybe that was why I was feeling that someone is watching me from afar. Because there are really people who are indeed watching me.
"Yup," he said. "We do reconnaissance on potential halfbloods. "Hannah found you first but we all have to confirm you as a halfblood before we take you here. When you showed signs of your vampire blood that's when we decided to come to your neighborhood to eventually sway you to join us. But before that, we've been watching you and keeping you safe because it turns out vampires wants you too. And not just regular vampires but Valerious."
I reminisced the sight of Jared's blade from our encounter with Victor in the street. And that's when I recognized it. Jared was the very person watching me from Olivia's house. And that ice trail on the road. It was Blue.
"We knew vampires we're after you," he added fidgeting something in his fingers. "We just didn't realize how bad it was until Xynthia Valerious attacked you at the hospital."
"Xynthia Valerious?"
Blue nodded. "Yeah, she's known as Maurine Marquez in the mortal world but she's a vampire. A Valerious. She's a telepath, she can alter the way your brain thinks."
I swallowed, remembering how I stupidly kissed that doctor who ended up biting me. If Hannah hadn't come to my aid that night, I would have been dead.
"Then later that night, Victor Valerious showed up. He doesn't really comes for halfbloods unless they mean something to him. That's when we realized that you are valuable to them. And that necklace just added more fuel to the fire."
I still don't know why they wanted me. Why am I even that special.
"Hannah also mentioned earlier that Cedrick Valerious saved your asses." He chuckled. "That's sweet"
"I didn't why he did that." I inhaled. "He also called me a different name."
Blue's gaze lifted up to me. "He did?"
"Yeah, or maybe I think he was referring to me." I shrugged. "I don't know. I'm not sure."
"What did he call you?"
"I think it was Reivhen"
"Reivhen. . ." Blue's face turned serious. "That's weird. We really should take a look at that one because that actually means your related to an elder."
"You've said that before."
"Maybe, but I've found something quite interesting, Peter."
"What?"
"Of the three Elders named Lucian, Reckon and Reshire, only one had a child. And that's Reckon. Reckon was killed by Lucian and his son Cedrillian was also murdered. But no one found the body or his ash. So some believed that maybe, just maybe, he was still alive."
I groaned. "So you're saying that this Cedrillian is me?"
"I don't think so, Cedrillian was born centuries ago. It would be impossible if it was you. But if he did survived and he came to live in this world. I think it would be possible that he did mated with mortals. And if did, he would have an offspring."
My eyes narrowed. "So you're thinking that I'm his child? It that what you mean?"
He shrugged again and smiled. "That's just my theory. It could be or it could be not. Since its the only explanation as to why you are wearing an elder necklace. But it could also be something else. Something we just fail to take notice."
I can't help but think of it. What if it was true? What if I'm indeed a son of a Valerious? Does that mean they could want me for a reason? If this Cedrillian is my father, where is he? Why did he abandoned me?
"I still need to take a better look at it," Blue said, making me turn to face him. "I'm the one Jared assigned to finding out about you and I'm currently lost as to how to get to an acceptable conclusion." He dropped himself on the chair. "It would have been easier if Hannah can help me. She can glimpse through the past. But everytime she uses her powers lately, things turn a bit sourly."
"It did turn sour," I muttered.
Hannah walked to the past with me and and she ended up with a knife in her back. It wasn't something her friends and even me would want to happen to her again.
A loud blaring alarm echoed inside the Haven. Blue and I got up.
"They're back!" Blue hopped up from his seat and signaled me to go out of the room. We ran outside to get to the entrance when I saw Jared running towards us. He had a scrape on his forehead.
Behind him, Hannah and Elle ran, carrying with them a bloodied and limp body.
