Hannah and I remained silent as the car made its way into the boulevard. I was still flustered, unable to talk. I don't know what to think or how to act. I don't even know what I'm feeling right now. Everything just seemed so surreal. Like a bad dream. Well, I do hope that everything is just a bad dream. A nightmare I could just escape the moment I wake up. But its not. Everything that has happened is really a part of my reality.
Olivia. My sweet poor cousin Olivia.
I closed my eyes, refusing to refresh the memory. But I couldn't take it from my head. I couldn't wipe the sight of her pale figure swaying sideways outside my door, her blood trickling down the side of Victor's lips. I closed my eyes, wanted to erase it my head. Still, it haunts me.
"I'm sorry about what happened to your cousin," Hannah mumbled.
I kept quite. Even if I badly wanted to changed what had already happened, I couldn't. My cousin is lying cold and dead outside my house and it's all because of me. I hated the feeling of it. I balled my fist. Hannah was right. I was stupid. If I just listened to her, this wouldn't have happened.
"Hey, it's okay"
"It's not!" I yelled. "We stole a car, our house is in shatters and my cousin is dead! And it's my fault! HOW COULD IT BE OKAY?"
Hannah's grip on the steering wheel tightened but she stayed calm.
"I-I'm sorry," I said, calming down. I closed my eyes. "It's just. I don't know." I closed my eyes again, breating deep. "I should've listened to you."
I heard Hannah draw a deep breath but she chose not to give a remark. She let me act what I wanted.
"It wouldn't have happened if I wasn't stupid, like you said." I wanted to cry and scream.
"I didn't mean to tell you that," she said.
"Yeah? Well now my cousin's dead because of me. There's no point trying to be nice just to make me feel better."
"I'm not trying to make you feel better. What I'm saying is that there's nothing we can do about it now."
I hated that she was right. I hated that I got tangled up in this mess. My life used to be pretty normal and boring. How I wish I could go back to the time when my only problem was to get my school projects and assignments done. At least, that didn't include halfblood revolutionaries and vampires and killing people. Now, everything just turned 360 degrees. I don't even know where to start and what to look forward to. For all I know, tomorrow I'd be a cold and dead body.
In an instant, I'd been in a vampire watchlist. It wasn't something I'm quite happy about. Great, I just missed the days when all I cared about is my mom's morning cooking.
I straightened when I remembered something. Fear crept around my body like Elle's electricity.
"Hannah, my mom!"
Hannah stopped the car and looked at me, surprised of my sudden shouting.
"We need to get my mom! What if Victor comes back and takes her? What if they'll hurt her?"
"Pete, I understand. But right now, we can not go back in there. It is too dangerous. For all we know Victor has other vampires tailing us right now. We need to go back to the Haven."
"But my mom! I can't just let her be! If Valeriouses really wanted me so bad, I need to get my mom to safety before she becomes bait. You realize that, do you?"
Hannah cleared her throat. "I know and I understand how much this means to you. But we can't go back out there. We're badly outnumbered and outgunned. We'll discuss this with the rest of the team when we get back to the haven. We'll get your mom to safety, Peter. I promise."
Her voice carried a surprisingly amount of calm. I didn't know how but it made me stop my argument. I sunk in my seat and closed my eyes, hoping I'd fall asleep so I'd forget about this for a few minutes. But my eyes remained open until we reached the Haven.

"What happened? Are you guys alright?" Blue asked as we got out of our stolen car. "Where is the convertible?"
"We got into trouble. I need to talk to Jared. Where is he? We'll be at the gunnery. Go get me Jared" Hannah asked.
"I'll go get him." Blue zipped away in a gust of cold air and disappeared from sight. Hannah turned back to me and waved me to follow her.
We walked inside the building and turned to an intersection. A red door appeared before us. Hannah walked straight to it and touched the knob. With a twist, the door creaked open and my eyes welcome the sight of numerous guns and weapons. Hannah grabbed two pistols and gave it to me. She then took a sword, a number of blade discs and a shotgon and placed them in her thighs and waist. She pulled a smaller door open containing trench coats and leather coats. She grabbed one and gave it to me.
"Change into this and meet me back into the hall. We've got a long night to go."
She walked past me and left me inside the room. "Hurry Peter, we don't have much time."
I hurriedly changed into the leather overalls and made myself wear the trenchcoat. With my chest still heaving inside my chest, I managed to move swiftly. I needed go get my mom to safety. And I needed to do it now before it's too late.
I didn't have time to check the way I looked. I placed the pistols in the sides if my waist and hurried outside to meet Hannah. I found her talking to Elle. She had changed too in her usual dark leather bodysuit. Elle is wearing the same outfit.
"We need to move," a voice said behind me. I turned around and spotted Jared who looked stern as usual. I don't really know what is up with this dude. He glared at me and looked at Hannah.
"I hope he'd be an asset than a liability." He glared at me again. "Let's go!"
