CHAPTER THREE

Jimi is seated in the parlor. Drinking a glass of juice with his legs crossed against each other while seeing a movie. "Oops,” he says. “I haven't called my cousin, and it's getting dark already. He reaches for his phone on the table and dials her number. “Sorry, the number you're calling isn't reachable. “What? ”. He says. Well, she's a boss; she can handle herself, and he waves his shoulders off. Jimi drops his phone and takes a sip of his juice. He wasn't one to care too much about someone. Miriam reaches her destination, Louis V. Parks her car and sluggishly walks in, but her beauty is what makes people whisper. She notices but doesn't pay too much attention. She heads straight to the bar, takes a seat, adjusts herself, and flips her hair to one side, then places her bag on the table while waiting for the bartender. The bartender approaches her. “Good evening, Ma'am, and welcome to Louis V. What can I offer you? "Umm.” Can I get a bottle of whiskey? She says. Yeah. Sure. Just a minute. The bartender says. Hold on, please. Is there a space in your executive suite? I don't know, ma'am, but you can just go upstairs; on your left, you'll see the receptionist. Oh. Alright. Thank you. Miriam says as she stands, reaching for her bag. She makes her way on. “Good evening, ma'am. Welcome to Louis. V. How may I be of help?” Thank you. Is your executive suite available? Miriam asks. Yes, Ma'am. It is available. Okay. I'll pay for it. She checks for her mini purse in her Fendi bag. She removes the card and swipes through the machine. Seen? Miriam asks. Yes, Ma'am. Here is your tag. She hands it over to Miriam. Just take your right, ma'am. The tag has your executive suite number. Enjoy your stay, Ma'am. The receptionist adds. Miriam mutters, "Thank you,” while putting her mini purse into her bag. She makes her way to the right and takes a turn while searching for the suite that corresponds with the number on the tag. She finally finds it and swipes the tag through. The door creaks open, and she steps in. She throws her bag on the couch and heads to the bed and jumps on it. Miriam heaves a sigh of relief. “What now?” asked herself. I'm drained. Then she whispers, "God, please, just a miracle,” with her voice breaking and tears rolling down her cheeks. She cries her eyes out like a baby and eventually falls asleep. Damian arrives at Louis V. He heads to the reception. Good evening, Mr. Damian. The receptionist quickly said, as she was aware of the figure standing right in front of her. Good evening. I made a reservation, his fingers slightly tapping the table and his phone in his other hand. Damian says. Yes, sir. Your friend is already waiting for you at the executive bar, sir. "Okay,” Damian says in a cold tone. The receptionist shivers and gulps down saliva. Damian sharply turns and heads to the executive bar. Good evening, my friend. Good evening, Jerry. I hope I didn't keep you waiting. Damian asks. “No, not at all,” Jerry responds. Damian takes his seat. Unbuttons his suit, crosses his legs, and drives his fingers through his curly hair. Jerry pours in some of the Italian wine for Damian. So how was your meeting? Jerry asks. It was fine. Damian answers tightly. How was that work? Damian asks in return while sipping his wine. It was fine as well. Nothing much to do. With the current crisis, I think the whole company might crash. Jerry says sadly. What of the CEO? Damian asks. I really do not know. She hasn't addressed everybody yet. Jerry responds. I hope she'll handle the situation before it gets out of hand. He adds. Well, a CEO will always know what to do. Damian says with a faint smile. They go ahead to talk about many things about the past, the girls, childhood, school, and then business. Mr. Jerry checks his watch. Ha, it's getting late, and I better get going. He drops his glass and hesitatingly stands up. It was a nice time with you, my friend. I look forward to more of this. Jerry says. Me too. Don't forget to kiss my goddaughter goodnight. Damian says. Of course, I will. Jerry responds with a full smile while leaving. Damian crosses his legs and stares blankly at nothing as though thinking about something. He sits there for a while, sipping his wine, enjoying his privacy, and glancing through his phone. Miriam wakes up as she hears a knock on her door. "Mmmmmmm, who's there? With a sleepy voice. Room service, ma'am. A girly voice responds. "Ohh,” she says tiredly and walks to the door, dragging her feet on the floor. She opens the door a bit. Leaning on it. Your bottle of whiskey, Ma'am. You ordered it from the bar. That's true. She opens the door wide. Letting the girl come in. She walks in. Drops the bottle of whiskey on the table. Ma'am, should I pour it into a glass for you? "Yes,” Miriam says while closing the door. The girl opens the bottle of whiskey and pours it into a glass. Miriam walks to where she is and sits on the sofa. Here you go, ma'am. "Thank you,” Miriam says. The girl leaves, and Miriam drinks her whiskey. Wondering when she slept off. She stands up with the glass of whiskey in her hand. Pacing up and down. She reaches for her bag and grabs the investor fund file. “NO, I don't want to go through this again. At least not now. She says as she's about to shed uncontrollable tears again. She drops the glass of whiskey and the file. She gets her phone from her bag and thinks of whom to call. She lets out a heavy sigh. Let me call Kylie. She dials her number. Kylie's phone is ringing…
