Seraphina had already decided what part I would play. I was supposed to claw at her hands and beg for a life I no longer wanted. My body gave me one last burst of movement. I caught her wrist, closed my numb fingers around the vial, and pulled. Surprise loosened her grip. I emptied the Soul-Rot poison into my mouth. Corrosive fire tore through my throat and stomach.
