Aris Moreno and Akari Moreno were born twins, raised by three uncles who taught them discipline, strength, and loyalty from the moment they could walk. Where Akari grew sweet, innocent, and hopelessly in love with Gabe Knight—the quiet boy who once sheltered her beneath an umbrella—Aris grew blunt, sharp-tongued, and unafraid to tread where others dared not.

Together with their childhood friends Mimi and Axel, the twins spent years fending off rival martial artists led by Tobe Hex, a boy with a scar, a grudge, and a secret of his own. But when high school begins to shift their world, friendships tangle, rivalries blur, and feelings grow dangerously complicated.

Akari clings to her unshakable crush on Gabe, even as he pushes her away. Aris, skeptical of love, finds herself caught between protecting her sister and navigating her own unexpected bond with an enemy. And Gabe—haunted by grief and battling emotions he refuses to admit—may become the spark that unravels everything.

Love, rivalry, and loyalty collide in a story where the heart refuses to obey reason—and where every fight has more than one winner, and more than one casualty.

Chapter One: Where it all started
Aris and Akari were born twins but with the loss of their parents at a young age their three uncles who own a restaurant took on responsibilities as their guardians. Both twins were unusually strong due to their uncles being overprotective and having them both take martial art classes as soon as they were balanced enough to walk by themselves. They were both smart, fast, strong and kind. Akari was the sweetest of them while although Aris can be soft, she was very blunt and corrupted while Akari stayed innocent, which was a bit of a pain considering Aris liked making jokes that were inappropriate, Akari was too innocent to understand but she chuckled despite not knowing what Aris meant. Their childhood consists of Akari chasing Gabe, completely falling in love with him after he transferred to their elementary after Gabe’s parents died and he lived with his aunt who was a nice lady and very talkative unlike him. On a rainy day when Aris was sick and Akari had gone to school by herself, one of their uncles was late picking her up and Gabe shared his umbrella with her making her heart beat fast. She has liked him since that day. Aris wasn’t too fond of him because he would ignore her sister’s advances and sometimes wished her sister would give up on him for someone better, but she knows that sometimes the heart can be unpredictable and do what it wants for whatever it wants. Mimi and Axel were childhood sweethearts and best friends of Aris and Akari, even Gabe. Their group grew up together and got into fights often with the martial arts group that contained ten followers and their leader named Tobe. This was consistent throughout jr. high and high school, but during the junior year of high school things took a turn. In junior year of high school things were consistent and stayed the same Aris and Akari were now sixteen, Gabe was seventeen, Axel was sixteen, and Mimi was Seventeen. Tobe was seventeen and his followers were mixed between seventeen and sixteen. At the start of the semester the group noticed that they shared most classes except a few which was a relief for the majority except of course for Gabe who was still running away from Akari. Their classes consisted of art, music, social studies, math, history, and science plus one elective which everyone picked which was martial arts. Aris had a class with Gabe for their fourth period which was math. Aris sat in the back close to the window, she excelled in math, so the subject was no problem, Gabe sat at the desk next to her, he preferred not to be around other people, so the back row was perfect. This particular class had Tobe and a few of his followers, his followers were scattered among the other classmates but Tobe sat at the desk in front of Aris. He knew she was probably one of the smartest people in this class, so he thought of ways to ask her to help him. He felt somewhat ashamed for wanting to ask considering that his group gets their asses handed to them by her and Akari’s group. For a while she’s been on his mind, he didn’t know when that started but he found her pretty, smart and confident but scary and very blunt. He did find her dark/inappropriate humor kind of charming but embarrassing. While all the students sat and chatted waiting for their teacher to show up. Tobe finally mustered up the courage to ask her for help. Aris was stuck in her thoughts looking out the window but upon hearing her name she stopped her daydreaming and nonsensical thoughts to look at the boy with long messy black hair looking at her with his face all red from embarrassment and nervousness. “Aris…. I know we don’t get along but, I know ….that …. that you are better at this subject then I am.” Aris stared at him questionably but nodded at him to continue. Gabe was resting his head on his desk but was eavesdropping to see what Tobe’s intentions with Aris were. “I was. wondering if you could tutor me so I’m able to somewhat pass, I know last year my grades weren’t…. the best compared to yours.” “What’s in it for me, if I were to help you?” Aris stared the poor boy down with some interest but still questioned if there’s more to it than tutoring. He schemed against them all the time with some nonsense fight due to his grudge against Gabe which is still unknown to everyone to this day. Tobe stared at her for a minute before finally saying, “What do you want, I can give you anything… money...food...something you like, anything really.” Tobe started questioning his sanity, it felt like he was confessing to something he didn’t do, which was an unusual feeling, very foreign. “Anything you say? Hmm, I’ll agree to tutor you, but you have to agree to answer any questions I have about you no matter what, no matter how difficult it could be.” Tobe was taken back a bit but agreed to it, he was curious about her intentions. “Also, you have to bring food and drinks every session.” Aris chuckled to herself. Ahh of course there was something to add to the request, such an Aris thing to do. Why did she have to look freakin’ adorable telling me that, Tobe thought. Gabe listened to it and felt that their interactions were wrong. How could Aris just agree, maybe she has her own diary. Maybe she felt Tobe’s intentions weren’t as pure as he intended, there’s no way she would ever hang around him with no purpose. I don’t like this one bit; I hate having to feel something towards someone like HER. I mean she’s Akari’s sister, I hate how she teases me about Akari and that I should give her sister a chance, but I can’t she annoys me too much. How can I like someone who doesn’t take a hint, doesn’t know boundaries, and it just plain annoying. At least Aris doesn’t annoy me besides the teasing, she’s blunt and makes crude, gross jokes, she basically has a sailor’s mouth. She’s the complete opposite of Akari but she has more of a charm to her…. wait what am I thinking, I don’t like her like that she looks exactly like AKARI for god’s sake. Well not exactly they have similar features of course because they are twins, but Aris has half of her head shaved and has the other half dyed hot pink like a delinquent. How could I like someone like that. Plus, she’s very short, like 4’11’ unlike her sister who is 5’2’. I need to keep her safe, Tobe needs to stay away. I need to protect her, protect what's mine. What the f**k is wrong with my mind. I need to go cool off and maybe I can stop them from meeting...but what right do I have. I haven't even had a decent conversation with her depsite being in the same group since childhood. Fuck...I need to come up with a plan, they mustn't meet, she could help anyone else, why does it have to be HIM of all people. That fucker can't hold a light compared to her, she may not be as innocent as her sister but to me she was raw of pure confidence that's alluring, even if her blunt way of speaking hurt but it was the truth, no bs. She was perfect. There meet up must not happen, maybe I can join or watch from afar if he decides to do something funny or hurt her. I know she can hold her own but I can't watch him be next to her. It must not happen!
