When the Fate Changes

Chapter 3

DYLAN

I started to open my eyes slowly. I see the lights from the window because of the sun. It is already morning. I look around the familiar place and I don't think this is my room but this is a hospital room. I saw a woman writing in a paper she's holding and I know she is the doctor by looking on the clothes she wears. I suddenly remember what happened yesterday before I collapsed but now I feel safer because of this place.

I feel weird about myself. I look at my two hands and there is just something wrong.

"I'm glad you're awake. Are you okay, Dr. Rain?" the doctor asked. I feel a little confused because of what she calls me.

"Are you mistaken me for someone? How do you know Rain? I think you're in the wrong room doctor" I explained. She looked at me worriedly and also confused. She just stays there quietly.

"I think something happens to you. We still need to check you. I'm going to conduct CT scan on you Dr. Rain, don't worry" I get more confused because of what she says. She goes out of my room and I try to stand up. I don't know why she keeps saying that I am Rain. I try to find a mirror but I can't find one until I see the bathroom and I'm pretty sure there is mirror in here.

I slowly stepped my foot inside the bathroom that is near the door outside. As I slowly looked at my face I suddenly stopped and get so shocked from what I see.

"Rain?" I said while pointing to the mirror. I suddenly shouted aloud and out of fear I ran fast outside my room.

"Dr. Rain " I heard the familiar voice shouted but I didn't look back. I just run and run inside the hospital. I don't know where I am going but I just run because I still can't get over of what is happening. I hear footstep that someone is following me. I look at my back for a second and see the doctor also running behind me. I run even faster because this is what I think I need to do. Go far from people.

"Good morning, Dr.--

I hear one of the nurse say but I still don't stop to run. I am already outside the hospital. I suddenly feel my chest became so tight and I felt running out of air. I slowly running but I can't take it anymore. My knees fold to the ground. I hold my chest and try to breathe but I can't. I feel like I'm collapsing again. Before I felt my body lying on the ground someone grabbed my shoulder and catch me.

"I... can't... can't breathe... “I utterly said.

She gives me an inhaler from her white robe.

"I know and why did you run so fast? You know you can't force yourself, right?" after I inhale, I again feel myself going back and calming again.

"Don't run again, Dr. Rain" the girl doctor said. I just looked at her eyes and she seems so worry about him. She helped me stand up and walk me in my room again. I lay on my bed and she started to

write on her paper again.

"I'm not... Dr. Rain" I said. I think I needed help from someone on this situation I have. I see her confused eyes looking at me again.

"I don't even know where I am, or what is your name? But I remember who I really am. I'm Dylan, that is my real name and I just--

She touches my forehead and removed her hand slowly.

"You're just... normal. But I don't think I will believe what you are saying now"

"Then why did I shout when I look at my face and why I run fast? It's because I don't really know who he is or this body. It just happened that after I wake up today, I am now in another body. It's... I just need your help because I don't know how I am going to start now." she bites her finger, thinking and looking at me seriously.

"Okay... I also don't know how I'm going to help you. But, I still wanted to help you because... You're in Dr. Rain's body. Actually, I don't talk to strangers" she explained. I just nod at her.

"I'm curious about something. How did Rain's body is in this hospital now?" I asked.

"Right, someone see you... I mean Dr. Rain in the road. He's an old man and he just left"

"Then, why is my body's not here?"

"I don't know" she honestly answered "I'll try to reach the person who took you, sir. Just wait for me and don’t run" she quickly walking out the room.

"What's your name doctor?" I shouted and she suddenly stopped while opening the door.

"Just call me Dr. Hillary" she said and leaves. I feel like she's kind of serious and really don't care about everything around her. She's just about my age and I feel that she is really close to Rain because I see something about them. I still can't get used for calling Rain as me, it still feel weird.

A nurse enters the room. She's just smiling while walking towards me.

"How are you feeling Dr. Rain?" she asked. I'm waiting for someone to answer but I suddenly remember that she's talking to me.

"I'm okay now, thank you for your concern nurse" I awkwardly answered. Her smile just got bigger and she started to bite her lips.

"It's... I mean, I'm worried about you"

"Don't worry, I can... take care of myself." she giggled and put her hand on her mouth. I just feel hot inside.

"Nurse Ellie, what are you doing here? I already checked Dr. Rain's condition so you can go out now." Dr. Hillary appeared as a cool and strict doctor.

"Wow, you suddenly make my heart flutter. You look cool" the nurse said.

"Of course" she smiled "see you at canteen later"

But the wind changes its direction. It looks like they are really close but pretending not at first. They are both weird. She wear a serious face again when she look at me. She's really not talking to strangers.

"The man is already gone and I can't get his contacts because the supervisor suddenly came and checking the information desk. But, don't worry I will give it to you later. "she explain.

"Does that nurse like Rain?" I asked and she smile.

"Of course not, I think she's just not used of Dr. Rain being talkative because he is really a quiet person and don't even answer a complete sentence here in hospital"

"Are you and Dr. Rain close?"

She became serious again.

"I don't know, maybe yesterday"

I got confused about what she answers but I think something happen between them. I feel comfortable while talking to her and I feel like she can be trusted by everything because of her self-centered personality.

I just hope, I'll get back from my body and be with Tammy again. And... help this two.
