Kayla felt an inexplicable pang of unease at Jackson's words. She glanced at Lily, relieved to find her completely absorbed by the shadowy figure ahead. With a quiet sigh of relief, Kayla relaxed slightly.
Beside her, Sheree was in a similar state, sensing there was more to Jackson's words than met the ear. Yet, since he hadn't exposed the lie, she wasn't about to walk into it herself.
Sheree moved closer to Kayla, and the two exchanged a knowing look.
"Should we go check it out?" Lily suggested boldly. Lily always had a knack for diving headfirst into intense and risky situations.
"Since you want to go, let's go check it out," Jackson said, leading Lily towards the shadow.
