SOLD TO THE ACCRA BILLIONAIRE IN A CONTRACT MARRIAGE
Chapter 1: The Job Interview From Hell* Ama adjusted her cheap handbag and stared at the glass building in front of her. East Legon Heights. The headquarters of Mensah Group. "I can do this," she whispered. "I need this job." Her mother's hospital bills were 5000 cedis and she had only 20 cedis left in her mobile money. The doctor said if she didn't pay by tomorrow, her mother would be discharged. Inside, the air was cold. Too cold for Ghana. "Ama Boakye?" The secretary smiled professionally. "Mr. Mensah will see you now." Ama walked in. And froze. The man behind the desk was not old. He was young. Handsome. And angry. Kwame Mensah. Ghana's youngest billionaire. 29 years old. Every girl in Accra wanted him. Every girl except her. "You are late," he said without looking up. His voice was cold like the AC. "I... traffic from Madina—" "I don't care about traffic. I care about results. Your CV says you graduated top of your class at University of Ghana. Is that true or did you lie to get this interview?" Ama's cheeks burned. "I didn't lie." Finally he looked up. His dark eyes met hers. For a second, something flashed in his eyes. Surprise? Interest? He stood up. He was tall. Very tall. He walked around his desk and came closer. Too close. She could smell his expensive cologne. "You are hired. But on one condition." "What condition?" Amara's heart beat fast. "You will pretend to be my wife for 30 days. My grandmother is sick. She is dying. Her last wish is to see me married. You will do it. I will pay you 100,000 cedis." Amara's mouth opened. "What? I can't— I'm not—" "You have no choice. Your mother's hospital called me this morning for reference check. I already paid her bill. 5000 cedis. Consider it advance." Ama stared at him. How did he know? "Do we have a deal, Mrs. Mensah?" He stretched out his hand. What will she do? *Chapter 2: The Contract* Ama couldn't breathe. 100,000 cedis? That was more money than she had ever seen. Kwame pushed a thick paper toward her. A contract. 10 pages. "Sign it. 30 days. You live in my house in Airport Hills. You act like my wife when my grandmother is around. No touching, no feelings. After 30 days, you leave with the money. Simple business." "And if I say no?" Her voice was shaking. "Then I will call the hospital and tell them to refund my payment. Your mother will be thrown out tomorrow morning. Your choice." Ama felt tears coming. This man was cruel. Handsome but cruel. "Why me? You can get any girl in Ghana." Kwame stared at her for a long time. "Because you don't look like the girls who want my money. You look... innocent. You look like you don't want anything from me. My grandmother will believe you." Ama picked up the pen. Her hand was shaking so much she could barely write. She signed: Amara Boakye. Kwame smiled for the first time. But it was not a kind smile. It was a victorious smile. "Welcome home, wife. My driver will pick you up at 6pm from your hostel. Pack only what you need. And Ama? Don't fall in love with me. Every woman who does, regrets it." He turned back to his computer, as if she didn't exist anymore. Ama ran out of the office. Outside in the hot sun, she cried. What had she just done? She had just sold herself to a billionaire. At 6pm sharp, a black Range Rover parked in front of her small hostel in Legon. As the car drove toward Airport Hills, Amara didn't know that someone was watching her from another car. Dora. Kwame's ex. And Dora was not happy. *Chapter 3: The Mansion* Airport Hills. Ama had only seen this place on i********:. The mansion was huge. White walls, big gates, swimming pool. Bigger than her whole village. A old woman was waiting at the door. She was small, with white hair and kind eyes. She was Kwame's grandmother. "So you are Ama! My grandson's wife!" The grandmother hugged her tightly. "Finally! Kwame told me you were shy! Come, come inside!" At dinner, grandmother held Ama's hand. "When will you give me great-grandchildren?" Ama choked on her water. Later, Kwame showed Ama her room. It was big and pink. Next to his room. "You sleep here. Grandma thinks we share room, but we don't. Don't enter my room without knocking. Rules: 1. No touching. 2. No posting on social media. 3. No telling anyone this is fake." That night, Ama heard shouting from downstairs. She went down and saw a beautiful woman in red dress. "Where is Kwame? Tell him Dora is here!" Dora. Kwame's ex. The famous model. Dora saw Ama. She looked Ama up and down with disgust. "And who are you? The new housegirl?" "I am his wife," Ama said quietly but firmly. Dora laughed loudly. "Wife? Him? Don't make me laugh." Ama's hands balled into fists. Before she could think, she slapped Dora hard across the face. The whole house went silent. Kwame was standing at the top of the stairs, watching. His eyes were wide. Kwame walked down slowly. He looked at Ama. Then at Dora. "You have fire," he whispered to Ama, so only she could hear. "I like that." *Chapter 4: The Grandmother's Plan* After Dora left, grandmother clapped her hands. "Good! That girl slapped that witch! I like you more now, Ama!" That night, grandmother called Kwame to her room. Ama overheard. "Kwame, I like that girl. She has good heart. Marry her for real. Forget contract." "Grandma, it's business—" "I am old but not stupid! I know this is contract! But I see how you look at her. You like her." The next morning, grandmother announced: "Since you two are newly married, you will attend the Mensah Family Ball on Saturday. Together. As husband and wife. Everyone will be there." Kwame's face changed. "Grandma, no—" "Yes! And Ama needs dress! Dora will be there! Let everyone see your wife!" Ama was nervous. A ball? She had never been to a ball. She only had one dress from second-hand market. Kwame saw her worry. He took out his phone. "My designer will come tomorrow. 9am." The ball was in 2 days. What will happen? *Chapter 5: The Ball* Saturday night. The Kempinski Hotel ballroom was shining with gold. All of Accra's rich people were there. Ministers, CEOs, actresses. And Kwame Mensah with his secret contract wife. Ama wore a red dress that cost more than her hostel rent for 2 years. She was beautiful. "You look... expensive," Kwame said, but his eyes said more. At the ball, everyone stared. "Who is that girl with Kwame?" Dora came in a white dress like a bride. She walked straight to them. And she was not alone. She was holding the hand of a young man. A student from Legon. Ama's ex-boyfriend, Daniel. Ama's blood went cold. "Ama! Long time!" Daniel smiled evilly. "You didn't tell me you became a rich man's wife? Last month you were crying to me for 50 cedis for handout!" Everyone turned to listen. Kwame's face became dark. Dora smiled. "Oh, this is Ama's boyfriend from university. The one who left her because she was too poor. Right, Daniel?" Kwame did something no one expected. He put his arm around Ama's waist and pulled her close. "Anyone who insults my wife insults me," Kwame said loudly, so the whole ballroom heard. "Security!" Security carried Daniel out while he shouted. Ama was shaking. Kwame held her tighter. "Are you okay?" In his arms, for the first time, Ama felt safe. But also, her heart beat too fast. She was starting to feel something she shouldn't. *Chapter 6: The Kiss* After the ball, things were different in the mansion. Kwame started coming home early. One rainy night, light went off in Airport Hills. The whole mansion was dark. Ama was scared of darkness. Suddenly, a hand touched her shoulder. She screamed. "It's me," Kwame's voice. He had a candle. They walked to the generator room. It was small and wet. His shirt got wet and stuck to his body. Then thunder struck very loudly. Ama jumped into his arms. Kwame held her. He didn't let go even after thunder stopped. "Ama..." he whispered. "Kwame..." And then he kissed her. Softly at first, then deeper. The candle light flickered. Ama kissed him back. She forgot about contract. Forgot about 30 days. Then Kwame stopped suddenly and pushed her away. "No. We can't. This is not part of contract," he said, breathing hard. Ama ran to her room crying. The next morning, Kwame was cold again. Colder than ever. "We will not talk about last night. It was a mistake. 20 more days and you leave. Remember that." But was it? Because Kwame couldn't stop thinking about that kiss all day in his office. *Chapter 7: The Secret Exposed* Dora's revenge came on Monday. Kwame's phone rang. It was his business partner. "Kwame, check i********:! Someone posted about your wife!" A popular gossip page @ThoseCalledCelebs had posted: "BREAKING: Billionaire Kwame Mensah's 'wife' is actually a poor student from Legon! Her mother is in Korle Bu Hospital and she married for money!" There were photos of Ama in her old clothes at the hospital. Ama saw it and started shaking. Kwame knew. Only Dora could do this. He called Dora. "Did you do this?" Dora laughed. "I just showed truth!" "Don't ever call me again! And tell your father I am pulling out of his contract!" He hung up. Then he turned to Ama. She was packing her bag. "Where are you going?" "I should leave. Your family is embarrassed because of me." "The contract says 30 days. You have 15 days left. You are not leaving because of i********: fools." "But your reputation—" "I don't care about reputation. I care about you." Ama stopped packing. Did he just say he cares about her? But then grandmother shouted from living room, "Kwame! Come! News people are at the gate! They want to interview your wife!" Reporters were outside the mansion gate with cameras. *Chapter 8: toget "Because I love you, Ama. I fell in love with my cont 2 days." *Chapter 9: Goodbye G holding Ama's hand. Kwame didn't cry at first. He just sat there. Strong billionaire, but inside broken. Ama held him while he finally broke down and cried like a child. After funeral, they returned to mansion. It was quiet. Too quiet without grandmother. Ama was packing to go back to her hostel because her 30 days were over. Kwame saw her packing. "What are you doing?" "Contract is over. 30 days done." Kwame took her bag and threw it on the floor. "You are not going anywhere. You are my wife. Real wife. Remember certificate?" "But you said contract—" "I tore the contract. Yesterday." He showed her pieces of paper in the trash. "I want you to stay as my real wife. Not contract. Real. Will you?" Ama looked at him. This cold billionaire who once insulted her now begging her to stay. Kwame knelt down. The billionaire knelt. "Ama Adom, will you be my real wife? For 60 years, not 30 days?" Ama laughed through tears. "Yes! Yes!
