Chapter 8

"A-are y-you sure he is heading this way?" I asked, stuttering slightly and she nodded quickly.

"I-i saw his guards heading this way" she replied in a single breath.

I batted my lashes. "H-his guards? Are they really, heading this way?"

I got confused about what to do and turned around, fanning myself. Why did he decide to visit me now? What does he want from me? What am I expected to do now? I walked closer to the wardrobe and opened it but had to close it when I do not know what to do. I groaned in frustration. What cloth am I supposed to water?

I turned to face her. "W-why do you think he is heading this way?" I asked and she shrugged.

"I-i don't know. Should I prepare your bath or something?"

I nodded. "I think you should"

I was already sweating and I feel hot. A bath might help me get better.

"Then I will do that" she replied and rushed into the bathroom.

I sat down on the bed and brushed my hair backward. I sighed and sat down again. Am I supposed to take my bath and wait for him? What is the work of a mistress?

I had so many thoughts running through my mind. Bella came out of the bathroom.

"Ma'am your bath is ready," she said and I stood up.

I heard a sound and turned to face Bella.

"Do you think the Alpha is here?"

"I will go and confirm"

She left and returned a few minutes later. I stared at her waiting impatiently for her to say something.

"Is it the Alpha?"

"No, it's one of the guards"

"You will be starting a class tomorrow"

"For what?"

"To learn about our pack and also the etiquette of the pack"

I furrowed. "The Alpha is not here?"

She nodded. "He is not"

"I thought you said his guards were heading this way?"

"I thought so too but it end up not being so"

I breathed a sigh of relief. "That's a relief," I said and sat down.

I had been worried I won't give a good impression on my first day with him and he might even find out that I am cursed and asked that they kill me.

"Ma'am?" Bella cooed jolting me out of my thought and I blinked. "Are you ok?" She asked and I nodded.

"I am. I should go take my bath" is said and headed to the bathroom

By the time I was out, I felt refreshed and better. I got dressed in the clothes Bella had kept for me. She wasn't in the room when I came out of the bathroom but had kept clothes on the bed for me and some fruits too. I sat down to eat the fruits and also read some books. I had read all the books two to three times each and could tell almost everything that had happened in them.

I need new books but do not know who I was supposed to tell that to. "Maybe Bella would be of help," I thought.

After reading a few pages of different books, I got really, bored and thought about going out of the house for a while.

'Maybe I can go out without being seen and return before anyone would notice" I thought.

I looked through the window and it was sunset already. The place was getting dark and quiet. Though I thought about staying back, the thought of staying in the house alone without knowing when Bella would be back made me change my mind.

I stood up and walked to the door then peeped out. The living room was empty and I could not hear voices outside, making it easier for me to leave. I was soon outside the house. There were no guards outside and I wondered if everything was fine. Though I have not stepped outside since I was brought to the house, I always hear their voices from my room. I stood and looked to the right and then to the left.

The right path seems to lead to the training ground, I guess. I could see the entrance is decorated with helmets, armor, and swords. The paintings were dark colors too and that was the reason I thought it might be the training ground.

To the left was a narrow road, which I guessed to be the one the guard and I followed when we came from the hall. I decided it was best to follow the left path since there is a possibility I might not meet any guard on the road and even if I do, I can easily run back to the house. I followed the narrow path and was soon standing in front of the hall. I stared at it for a while as all that transpired between my pack and I played in my head. I shrugged off the feelings I had and thought about moving on. There was no point thinking about it cause it won't change a thing.

"I should be happy I finally get a place where I am not being treated with disdain. A place where no one knows me as the cursed Alpha's daughter but as an Alpha's mistress". I shrugged. "It is better being a mistress than being an Alpha's cursed daughter"

"If they are to find out you are cursed will they treat you the same?" My subconscious mind asked and I sighed.

I know they won't treat me the same and that will break my heart but what makes it different is that they are strangers to me so it won't hurt me as much as it does with my pack members. I was also sure they won't find out except being told by my pack members who I know do not want to have anything to do with me or the mysterious pack.

"They won't want to risk their lives coming back here just to tell them I am cursed right?" I thought.

"The Beta promised not to hurt them for as long as you remain here, remember?"

I was getting weighed down by the words of my subconscious mind and was beginning to feel that my days might be numbered here but I quickly shrugged off the feelings. I should not get bothered by what my subconscious mind had said. My pack members won't show up just to tell them that. They were happy and in jubilation to finally get disposed of me.

I looked at the hall for the last time and continue walking until I saw the road leading to the woods and decided to see what the woods here looks like. I ran towards it and was soon in the woods. I could hear the chirping of the birds and the rustling of the leaves. I could feel freedom and I love the feel of it. I closed my eyes and took a few steps and then bumped into someone.

I opened my eyes quickly. "I-i am so sorry" I muttered and had expected him to reply to me but he did not. I wondered if he heard me or not and decided he did not hear me. "I am so..."

Without letting me finish up my words he walked away. I batted my lashes at how rude he looked. I could not see his face cause I was busy feeling guilty that I hit him when he doesn't even care. "Hey, I said I am sorry," I said but he did not turn to look at me or say a word to show that he heard me.

"Is he deaf?" I thought.

With the attitude he portrayed, I concluded he might be and decided to run after him and apologize to him using the sign language I had learned from books. I was soon able to catch up with him. I touched him and he stopped walking. I stood in front of him. And without staring him in the face, I began to do the sign languages I remembered.

"I am so sorry. I did not mean to bump into you" I said, using sign language, and then mentally applauded myself for being a good and fast learner.

He pushed me to the side and continued walking. I stared at him leave and I frowned. He is being rude. "Hey!!!" I yelled at him. "He must have heard me in the first place but decided to ignore me"

picked a little stone up and threw it at him. The stone landed on his head and he stopped moving. He turned to look at me and I blinked, seeing that he had a mask on, which drew my attention.

"Could he be the Beta?" Bella had told me he is the only one who wears a mask now.

He glared at me and I chuckled nervously. Though he wasn't so close to me, I could see danger in his eyes.

"I-i don't mean to hit you with that. I was just angry you heard my apology but said nothing about it. I am so..."

I noticed he was already gone and I shivered a bit. What if he is the Beta like I thought? Will he tell the Alpha bad things about me and make the Alpha hate me? I found myself running after him and had to stop running when I lost track of him. I sat down beneath a tree and groaned.

"What if he asks the Alpha to punish me? What if he is the Alpha himself?" I thought and shivered at that thought. "H-he can't be the alpha right? Cause If he is, I am sure he won't spare me," I thought.

I never meant to get into anyone's black book but I guess my curse won't stop that. I knew there was nothing I can do for now. I decided it was best to return home and await my fate, rather than sulk here all day. It was also very dark and Bella might be back and will worry about me if I do not return in time.

I got to the house just a few minutes before Bella returned. The guards were not back too when I got to the house. Bella brought in a very delicious meal but I couldn't eat much of it, because I was worried about what happened in the woods. But though I was worried that I might have entered into someone's black book, I couldn't help but fall asleep as my body touches the bed.

"Ma'am?" Bella called but I ignored her. I was awake but was not ready to get out of bed so I pretended to be asleep by not answering her, hoping she will leave. "Ma'am, are you awake? I know you are. You should wake up. Your teacher is here," she whispered to me and I dragged up the duvet cover over my head. "Ma'am" she called again and I groaned.

I pulled down the duvet cover. "I don't want to attend any class today, ok? The class is boring" I replied.

"Ma'am I can't let you miss a class. The Alpha might be back anytime soon. He won't be happy if he doesn't meet you with good conduct. We will all get punished for that"

I frowned and sat up. "Are you saying I am not of good conduct?"

"N-no. I don't mean it that way. I-i... I-i am just saying..."

I pushed the duvet cover aside and stood up. "I will just go take my bath," I said and stormed into the bathroom.

I spent a great deal of time in the bathroom doing nothing but just wasting some time.

"Ma'am? Ma'am? Are you ok? Should I come in? There is not much time left" Bella asked, hitting the door slightly and I groaned.

"I will be out soon" I answered and pulled myself out of the bathtub.

I missed my cave house. I was really, tired and bored here and seems to like my cave house better. There I tend to decide what I want but here, I do everything they want me to do even if they are against my wish. I opened the door and walked out.

"I already kept your cloth on the bed. I also brought your breakfast. I will get your hair dried," she said, dragging the chair back and gesturing that I sit.

I sat down and stared into the mirror. Bella was busy drying my hair and she seems to be lost in it. I tapped the table slightly drawing her attention and she looked at me through the mirror.

"Did she give you the course outline for today?" I asked

"No, she did not"

I furrowed my brows. "So I won't know what she wants to teach me today?"

"I guess you won't" Bella replied and return her attention to drying my hair.

I frowned. She doesn't want me to ask her questions. She knew I would if she gives the outline beforehand. "She must be tired of my questions," I thought and scoffed.

I am tired of the classes too. I do not like any of the classes, because they keep teaching me the same things that I had grown up to know with just a little difference. And she wouldn't stop reminding me that I am just a mistress and nothing more, so I should not think about dreaming to become his wife or his lover, because he has a mate. Like I care if he has one. I can't have a mate and I don't have a wolf too. Why would I think of such a thing? Even if I end up dreaming of becoming his wife one day, it will always remain a dream, because I am cursed.

"You are his mistress and you must do everything he wants" she had told me in one of the lessons. "You must satisfy him"

"Then what will his mate do?" I asked and she gave me disbelief look like I had said something unbelievable.

It was just a question. If I am to do everything he wants and satisfy his desire, then what is the point of having a mate?

"I just..."

"To the next lesson," she said and that was the end of the discussion.

"Done," Bella said and I stood up. I got dressed and sat down to quickly eat. "You don't have to rush your food. I already told your teacher you will be a bit late"

I stared at the wall clock. "I won't be just a bit late if I do not eat fast"

She stared at the clock and batted her lashes. "You are very late. I will bring you some snacks, you should get going"

"I am not done eating"

She pushed the table aside and dragged me up. "You can eat some snacks when I bring them"

"I..."

She held my hand and dragged me to the door. I peeped into the living room and saw my teacher speaking to a man in a mask. I could tell from the mask type that he is the same man who had said he wanted me. I batted my lashes. Isn't that the Beta? The same I met in the woods some days ago?

"You should head out, ma'am" Bella whispered.

I placed my hands on the door. "I am not leaving. Not yet"

"You have to go," she said and tried to drag my hands away from the door. We kept dragging with each other until and finally succeeded and I groaned. "See you after the class ma'am," she said and pushed me out of the door and into the living room.

I must have drawn their attention because both my teacher and the masked man stopped talking and turned to face me. I froze.
