Chapter 28
Cole had gone over his speech with me dozens of times in the last few weeks. Never one to be comfortable with public speaking, this was a huge deal for him. He had discussed his plan with the principle and kept it a secret from everyone, except for me. I’m so proud of him. I just wish I could have seen him deliver it. I would have loved to see the reaction that his words had produced. I truly believe that this will have been a big turning point in his life. Unfortunately, I am limited to when I can appear, and when he gave his speech, it was outside of the timeframe. However, tonight Cole has one more surprise planned. It’s just after ten, and the sun is finally gone. I’m sitting on an old set of wooden bleachers outside of the arena, waiting. It’s nearly pitch-black, and quiet except for
