I watch as Gavin practically sprints from his room, and I hear the front door closing. So that’s that then. Off he goes to sweep my Hadley off her adorable feet. But she’s no longer my Hadley. She’s his. It takes every ounce of strength that I have not to go back on my word and follow him to her. I have to let this happen, it’s the best thing for all of us. I have to love her enough to let her love somebody else. I’m setting her free. A strange feeling comes over me, it’s the smallest shift, barely noticeable, but it’s there.
