Chapter 7-Reality Check

Ember's POV
I drove off heart broken,Damian and Darcy were having an affair behind my back all the while.
"How could you be so stupid Ember." I questioned myself.
The images I saw of the both of them kept flashing in my mind like a movie scene.I was deeply hurt. I gripped the steering wheel so tightly to the point that my knuckles almost turned white.
"Zayn!" I had almost forgotten about my sweet little boy, I needed to get him from school.

The school was almost empty when I arrived but the sun casted its dim shadow over the playground and my eyes caught a glimpse of Zayn sitting on a wooden bench swinging his legs with his school bag by his side and his face lit up the moment he saw me.
"Mommy!" He screamed in excitement as he ran towards me.I knelt down swiftly spreading out my arms for an embrace while burying my head in his black curly hair and inhaling his scent as I wished myself to be strong for my baby boy.I made sure he didn't see the little tears drop from my eyes.
"Hey, sweetheart." I murmured as I looked into his bright little innocent eyes.He was still so young.
"We are having a sleepover tonight, just you and me." I sounded very convincing and Zayn giggled softly.
"Can we get snacks?"
I forced a brilliant smile as I spoke "Sure baby, anything you want."
I straped him to the front seat right next to me and making sure he was comfortable we drove to a nearby shop to get him some Snickers chocolate bars and then we drove off to a nearby hotel.

The hotel room was a lot more smaller than the room I shared with Damian at Griffin mansion but it felt like a whole new world to me and the moment I shut the door behind me the reality I was now in overwhelmed me completely,my mind kept racing back.
I sat on the edge of the bed lost in thoughts and mumbling things to myself.
"Seven years, wasted on someone who never loved me.How did I let this happen to me?" I had ignored all the signs that played out right before my eyes.The late nights,the lack of affection,the intentional coldness and how he had made me feel like I was the only problem in his life.
"Mommy!" the echo from Zayn's soft voice brought me back to reality.He stood right in front of me with a very serious puzzling look on his cute little face.
"Are you sad,what is happening to you mommy?" I wiped my face as I didn't even realize I was crying the whole time.
"No baby, mommy is just deeply engrossed.I was thinking."
"You'll have to shower now baby."
I picked him up while rocking him with my hands, I made sure he had good food to eat with less chocolate consumption.
We were both set for bed and as Zayn climbed up the bed curling up beside me he said."I love you mommy."
I felt a thickness in my throat before I burted out." I love you too sweetheart, so much." He let out a yawn and within few minutes his little body was already relaxed and he was fast asleep.I watched him as he slept beside me and I relized the reason I had stayed with Damian for such a long time was because of Zayn, he was the driving force.My little boy had every right to be happy in life.I ran my fingers through his curls softly, pressing a kiss on his forehead while stretching my hands to get my phone.I was glad he didn't ask me about why his father didn't join us for our little sleep over.
I dialed a particular number and it rang three times before a smooth,calm and confident voice answered the call from the other side.
"Ember, I was just about to call you.I needed to know how you are doing."
My voice came out heavy and hoarse.
"Elena...I need a divorce."
"What?"
"Please just do as I've asked."
"I will have to see you Ember so we can talk about this properly.Where are you?"
I stood preplexed for a while until her voice came through again.
"Ember are you there?"
"Blue ridge hotel." was my response as I hung up the phone.I didn't know why I hesitated the moment she asked me for my location.I felt Zayn and I were running away from our shadows because I didn't know whom to trust anymore.As I sat back on the bed staring at my phone and anticipating Elena's arrival I heard a loud bang echoing from outside the door of our room.My grip tightened on my phone as my heart beat increased, who could it possibly be?
I struggled to breathe.Someone was out there watching us.
I stepped down from the bed with my mind running wild, I walked towards the door as the loud thud continued.I grabbed the door knorb as my shaky hands unlocked the door and to my greatest surprise there he was, Alpha Damian with a broad smile on his face.He was standing there fixed with the air of confidence,that full black hair and with everything that made him the pack's company CEO.
"You,what the hell are you doing here." I said gazing at him with disdain.
"Ember please come back home,I miss you and Zayn already.Our home is not complete without you both."
"Home,did you say home? they say home is where the heart is.My home is with Zayn, and I believe yours is with Darcy Calvin your concubine."
"I don't love her as much as I do you,please come back home."
"I will do no such thing Damian." I said with all levels of seriousness.
"No, my love don't say that."
I already made up my mind on Damian so I didn't budge.
"You will regret this." his countenance changed as he spoke in dangerous low tunes, his eyes turned red, they were blood shot, and swiftly he grabbed my neck while plunging a dagger into my heart.My blood gushed out and I saw the coldness in his eyes as I screamed right back into reality.
"No!" I found myself sweating profusely,it was all a terrible dream.
