Chapter 5: Alpha Ares

I was stunned by what I heard from Alpha Aaron. Just when I tried to ask him about what he meant, he didn't answer me. I just decided to keep my mouth shut and prepare myself for whatever is waiting for me. That, I am going to meet my rescuer.

It took us an hour before I noticed that we had just entered into a beautiful pack surrounded by many beautiful houses. Never did I expect that I would see such a place. This is very beautiful from the Moonlight Pack or from my parents' pack. I know that the Alpha of this place is not just a typical Alpha but a multimillionaire.

“We're here.”

I looked at Alpha Aaron. He opened the door of the car and helped me get out. I let out a deep breath when I remembered to ask something from him.

“Why did your Alpha save me? What does he want from me?”

Alpha Aaron just looked at me. He avoided my eyes and started stepping his legs through the big house.

“It's better that you ask that of him.”

My mouth widened. I turned my head towards the door when it suddenly opened. It seemed like my world had turned upside down when my eyes saw someone. That is someone I wish not to meet.

There was a man sitting on a couch. His eyes were in our direction when the door opened. It seems like my body doesn't want to move when I recognize that face. The face that everyone will remember for the rest of their lives.

Who could not know him?

The man sitting on the couch is the most terrifying Alpha King that all the werewolves fear.

“Raquel, meet Alpha Ares. The man who was behind your saving. He's my brother, and he's the one who rescued you.”

I just felt my mouth widen. If it was not because of Alpha Aaron, I wouldn't have stepped a little bit. He guided me near the Alpha King. His looks were not scary at all. Perhaps, he's the most handsome and attractive Alpha I've ever seen in my life, but his presence… Scratch it. It feels like I am facing death.

“You must be Raquel.”

His voice. It makes my hair almost stand up. I step back. It's a mistake that I am here.

Just when I had the chance to run away, I grabbed it. I just put myself into more trouble after knowing that my savior was actually the Ruthless Alpha King!

“The moment you stepped out of this house would be the end of your life. If your former pack wasn't able to kill you, then I could.”

I was stunned in my direction. Teeth gritting in annoyance as I look back to where that Alpha is.

“What do you want from me?”

Despite the fear in my heart, I tried to keep my composure. I won't let the ruthless king feel my fears. He shouldn't know that I am afraid of him. The Alpha King steps his feet near me. I wasn't able to move, as if there was a string in him that stopped me from moving.

The moment that he reached me, he held my wrist and pushed me on the couch. I have no choice but to sit down and protect myself if ever he does something to me.

“Is that your way of thanking me for saving your life?”

Rumors are true. You can feel your legs tremble when you talk to him. He has this charisma that can make everyone tremble. After all, Alpha Ares is the most powerful Alpha King of all. He's the king of all the Alphas and no one should mess with him, not even women.

“If I just knew that you were behind my rescue, I'd rather choose to accept the death sentence of my pack.”

Alpha Ares just shook his head at my response. I'd never really thought that I would be this close to him.

“Then you have no choice. I have saved your life, and you must be thankful for that.”

My head shakes. I stood up from sitting on the couch and faced him.

“How much money do you want in exchange for my life?”

Alpha Ares stood up from sitting as well. He walked near my direction, so I did my best to step back until I was cornered by him.

“I don't need money because I have a lot already.”

His hot breath hit my face. I control myself not to close my eyes and feel the warmth of his breath that just hit my face.

“T-Then, what do you really want?”

He caresses my face. I turned my head away to avoid his touch. I just can't imagine that my body would react to what he's doing to me.

“When I want something, I won't stop not until I have it. After I save your life from your former pack, it means you're under my care now. You owe your life to me, and I am so sure that you didn't want to die.”

I was relieved when Alpha Ares let go of me, but he's still in front of me.

“Why did you help me? I killed an alpha, according to everyone.”

Ares just looked at me with his blank expression. He put his hands in both of his pockets while still looking at me.

“A woman like you is incapable of killing an Alpha. I won't save a criminal.”

My mouth widened. I just can't believe that Alpha Ares didn't believe the accusations about me.

“Then, why? I am not worth saving for. I am broke and…”

Alpha Ares never allowed me to continue whatever I am about to say.

“I don't care if you're broken, worthless, powerless, or anything. I saved you because you're worthy of my proposal. I was looking for a Luna and you are fit for it.”

I can't stop laughing just because of what he has said. His facial reaction changed, so I stopped laughing.

“I am not even worthy of being a Luna. I believe that there's a lot who are better than I. Why don't you choose them instead of me?”

He shook his head and moved closer to me again. I was stunned in my direction, facing difficulty to move away. Alpha Ares' face is close to me and enough for my body to react.

“It's because you are indebted to me and I saw the potential in you that you won't get interested in me while playing the role of being a Luna. Don't worry, I will let you go once I find my mate. Now, if you don't want to accept it, then it's better to end your life now.”

Alpha Ares was ready to end my life when I raised my hands. I don't have a choice but to stay and negotiate with him. After all, this man in front of me is the Ruthless Alpha King. He can kill me anytime he wants to, and I don't want that to happen. I have to stay alive because I need to find Ryker's killer. I have to serve him justice and, by that, accepting this Alpha King's offer can make everything possible.

“Okay, I will accept the deal but on one condition.”

The Alpha furrowed his brows from what I had said. He crossed his arms, eyes were still on me and then his lips formed a smirk enough to make my heart pound.
