Chapter 61

212 Words
As we approach the border I look for her and my eyes find her just at the edge. She’s bent over a tree trunk and throwing up.  My heart goes out to her. I am not a normally emotional person but seeing her like this vulnerable and broken. Like a wounded animal, all I want to do is grab her and tend to her wounds. She looks so innocent and undeserving of the filth of this world that’s for sure. She doesn’t deserve to be rejected by her mate. Imagine finding someone like her and rejecting her because she’s different. Blonde hair and some curse is not a deal breaker. The goddess doesn’t make mistakes. She can’t burden her children unless there’s an higher purpose and I intend to find out all about that curse.  “You guys should just stay put and not spook her. She’s a flight risk right now okay and she’s really fragile too.” I tell my men.  She is still there crying and wiping her face. Her dress that was once white is stained with dirt and twig branches stuck to it.  She looks so helpless and lost. I just want to reach to her and drag her into my arms to make her stop crying.
